HostHatch - 3-year anniversary - 6 great offers in the USA, Sweden, and The Netherlands

HostHatch_-_SSD_VPS,_VPS_Hosting,_Linux_VPS,_Windows_VPS,_VPS_Server,_10Gbps_VPS_-_2014-04-20_07.33.58Abdullah, from HostHatch, and I have been in touch a while now about this offer. Today I can share with you some very nice offers to celebrate HostHatch’s third anniversary (which was April 11th). Abdullah and Emil wanted to celebrate this big with the launch of new products and two new locations! HostHatch is a registered company in Tampa, Florida, USA. They are known for their owned hardware and transparency about it. You can find some pictures of their hardware on their Facebook page. HostHatch has invested heavily in new hardware, which allows them to offer more resources for the same price as before. They’ve also started offering DDoS-protected IPs in the Netherlands and Los Angeles (USA), with protection up to 20Gbps/8M PPS. In addition to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, HostHatch now also offers servers from Los Angeles, California, USA, and Stockholm, Sweden! Their new nodes are equipped with Intel E5-1650v2 CPU, at least 64GB DDR3 RAM, and the new LSI SAS3 RAID controllers. Servers are backed up weekly. All offers also come with one free Comodo SSL certificate per IP address. Reviews of HostHatch are quite positive. Feel free to share your experiences with them here!

The website is full of grammatical errors and the AUP page doesn’t work (it has a bunch of PHP warnings instead of content). I don’t have any experience with their servers, but the website gives me a bad impression.

    • Chris,

We just launched our new website. We still have some small changes to make which do include some textual changes – but I cannot find any errors on the AUP page?

      April 19, 2014 @ 4:25 pm | Reply
      • Sorry. I just checked and it does seem that the AUP had some errors earlier today. As I said, we have recently launched our new website and there are still a few tweaks here and there, which are left to do.

      April 20, 2014 @ 1:20 am | Reply
      • Our DDoS protected IP addresses can protect up to 20Gbps / 8M PPS attacks. We have the protection tunnelled from Staminus in Amsterdam and Los Angeles both. There is a difference of 2-3ms latency which in my opinion is very good.

We plan to add a knowledgebase to our new website in the upcoming 2-3 days – so we will have fully detailed information there.

I have been on HostHatch and remember these very nice guys. Abdullah prepared me special offer, it was year or two ago. Support is professional and fast and their administrators are top. I would be glad to back to HostHatch, but for hostings I’m paying by Bitcoins now. Abdullah, do you think it’s possible to add the Bitpay.com gateway – they will provide the WHCMS plugin and users are paying BTC, you’re getting USD – and all sides are happy! :-) Cheers!

I did run into trouble running Shorewall (and using iptables in general), and it wasn’t immediately clear why this was to both myself and their support staff. However they kept on the issue until it was fully resolved. Friendly replies, no assumptions made by them, and they’ve got it fixed. Kudos to Emil!

        • Okay, Tom. I believe ‘suddenly’ and 7 days is a big difference, though – but I guess you are the more educated one here so I might be wrong. When Amazon has 50% off on something for a limited time, they are doing “bait and switch” I suppose – good thinking! :)

I am going to add a few more uses for the coupon as a lot of people have been asking but please do not order from a “bait and switch host”, which you say we are. Thanks and good day to you.

        • Qi:

I certainly tried, but not working. Now, it is more than 72 hours since last time I have access to the VPS.

“I can see your server is on and responding to ping, I will see what I can find from the inside to why it is not accepting SSH connections, please stand by.”

That is the last time tech support replied me, which is about 30 hours ago. No update ever since, despite I update the ticket asking for update. It looks like I was talking to myself in the support ticket.

You should feel lucky there is no major issue with Hosthatch for you, but, will you be lucky for ever? Does the service your deployed on the VPS, and the data on the VPS completely rely on your luck? Please think twice and move out asap.

          • TeeDev:

I feel your pain QI, sorry to hear it. You may think I’m mad but here’s what I have done.

I have about 30 or so customer sites on various low end VPS services and I now have a select handful of trusted suppliers (RamNode, Prometeus, Hosthatch, Chicago VPS (yes!) and Forthcloud).

However, I also have a redundant 4 core 2GB RAM, 100GB HDD server (another LEB offer for which I pay $40 annually) and I have all the sites also configured on that redundant box. Every 3 hours each site rsyncs file changes to its mirror on the redundant box and I have a script which also exports then imports the MySQL dbs for each site on to the redundant box over ssh.

Any time a provider’s node is down for more than a couple hours on the live box with no reasonable fix time in sight, I switch DNS (3600s TTL) to the redundant box. Call me mad but it has saved my face with clients on several occasions. As I have standardised with a handful of reliable providers now it rarely needs doing but still I have this automated process always running just in case. For $30/year it’s a massive massive piece of peace of mind.

When it last happened it took the provider 4 days to bring their node back up but my client only had 3 hours of downtime. Obviously in that time I had already fully moved the site to another provider.

Do you think something like that could help you? After all, if we’re dealing with low end boxes we have to accept that sometimes things are gonna go badly wrong. It’s up to us to mitigate that as far as we can.

AVOID LIKE HELL!! As above guy mentioned, entire server down for over a day. No 24/7 support, unable to login to vps, can’t reboot, can’t access files, nothing! It happened earlier this month too but they got it back online after almost 12 hours of downtime. Should have seen the writing on the wall and quickly moved back then. Have VPS’s with several other providers and never experienced this sort of downtime, now nearing 2 days. Crazy!

I have a server with them in NL (74 days up) and one in SW (56 days up), no problems. I consider them as solid. They did have some problems with equipment about 10 weeks ago (74 days) but they communicated well with several email updates explaining the cause and ETA for hardware replacement etc. They proactively offered credit for downtime. I also find their response times very quick. So these reports are very inconsistent with my experience.

What locations and nodes are you on?

LA Nodes. Downtime now over 3 days, Can’t access anything!!

I think Qi said it well

“You should feel lucky there is no major issue with Hosthatch for you, but, will you be lucky for ever? Does the service your deployed on the VPS, and the data on the VPS completely rely on your luck? Please think twice and move out asap.”

I can’t imagine any decent host taking such a lax attitude with clients. You’d expect issues resolved within 24 hours, especially when they advertise 24/7/365 support!

Damn! Sorry dude. See my response to QI above. Maybe food for thought….?

Thank you TeeDev, i read your reply to Qi about your redundant solution. It’s really wise of you, and clearly you’ve thought of these kinds of issues ahead of time! I’ll dig deeper and try to set something up like your suggestion. Sure will take away a lot of headache. Thank you again! Also I’ll be honest Host Hatch have been very good since last year, barely any down times and super fast server, It’s just this month we started having issues, but they have been good. Sorry for my heavy reaction.

  52. Hi Dave and Qi,

Please allow me to apologize for these delays you have faced. If you have been with us for a few months, you would know that this is not our normal service. I was not working for the past week (along with a few other of our staff) because we had religious holidays.

When SSDNode8 crashed, I was made aware of the situation and was told that it was being taken care of. However, a lot of tickets were not responded to and were not updated. I saw the Facebook posts by some of our customers and these Lowendbox comments today and I accept complete responsibility for this. Some people were not responded to even after 30 hours. I wish we could go back and and change how this situation was handled and believe me, I will make sure this doesn’t happen again.

I would really appreciate if you could send me an email to abdullah@hosthatch.com – I will make sure any issues you have pending are taken care of you are are heavily compensated for the issues above.

So I signed up with a KVM-SSD #2 in NL, without any promotions, and I received an email with the VPS instantly after I completed the payment.

I checked the IP and it was not pingable. So I decided to try reinstalling the machine through Solus just to be sure – it didn’t help. So I filed a ticket, informing the staff about the problem and I started waiting.

In the meantime I checked the routing of the IP and I found that my ISP, along with a server in the US, and a server in Asia, route the IP in the US … which is really weird since I ordered a VPS in the Netherlands.

It has been more than two hours now and no one has even posted a short reply in my ticket to let me know that something is being checked. It doesn’t seem that they have 24/7 support as they advertise.

  54. SCAM from HostHatch! They STEAL MY MONEY after pre-payment for 6 months!
I deposited in Advance to my HostHatch account a 6 month pre-payment, incl. the cPanel option, so that when the invoice arrives, my websites and service won’t be interrupted.
HostHatch, by mistake, suspended my account because no invoice was generated.
I contacted them, they apologised and re-activate my account, BUT now all my websites were not working, my DNS was not resolving as it was before.
I asked them politely either fix or refund me because I don’t know how to fix deal with it.
They said I should pay another company that they recommend to fix it for me, because for this price they only provide hardware, not support.
Since it’s been less than 7 days from my payment/billing cycle, I asked them for a refund. On top of that they never wish to help, like most other hosting providers do. I pay 30$ per month for a VPS including a cPanel (a 6 month pre-payment), I believe at least I should get some support, especially when the problem started after they, by mistake, suspended my account after which all my sites don’t work!
I Canceled my service for which I prepaid through my Control Panel, so they know that I am not using it since I am asking for a refund in which they replied: “Submitting a cancellation request is not the channel to request for a refund, this is your choice to cancel your service immediately (early) or at the end of the billing period (the end).”
So now I prepaid for 6 months then canceled after few days and they keep all my money. Do you guys believe is right to treat your customers this way? Any Recommendation guys you can give me or to them regarding this situation?

    • I already used their KVM VPS for a while.
Their support is very slow, around 24 hours to order get actived. Also if you purchase belongs with cPanel license, you can see your cPanel license is expired even you already paid for it!
I don’t think I will come back with them, but their hardware are good :)

    Abolutely unpredicted services:
they demand the alteration of the private data, if they dont like the private data of the user.
The payment methods via normal processors are absent with this service provider
