Ixam Hosting - 2GB RAM OpenVZ VPS for $7/month in Bucharest, Romania

Maximilian, from Ixam Hosting, sent in an offer with not only quite some RAM, but also quite some disk space and bandwidth! Ixam Hosting has been in business since August 2012 and have never been featured by us before. Their servers are located with Voxility in Bucharest, Romania and are all HP Proliant servers. They use quad-core Intel Xeon E3-1240 or Intel Xen E3-1240v2 CPUs and each have 4x 3TB hard drives in RAID10. I have looked around for some reviews and found some positive ones. Nice another Hack Forum host getting put on LEB:
    – Their HackForum sales thread: http://www.hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2422455
    – Their WHMCS has been dumped multiple times
    – This paid youtube review is hilarious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Nhk8xp-qzE

I don’t have access to Hack Forum post you linked because I am not Hack Forum member but what makes you different from this host you criticize? Or should we say: “Nice another Hack Forum member trashing featured host at LEB”?

      Hey Spencer :-)

I guess I would need to create an account at hackforums to even be able to verify that information.

Second, I’m not going to look for DB dumps for hosts we post. I’ve already explained why before. You’re free to look it up.

Third, a fake youtube review is relevant because?

So, let me get this straight. You believe that deceptive marketing (“fake review”) or otherwise shady involvements, would not be a problem relevant to them getting a frontpage listing on LowEndBox?

        January 11, 2014 @ 12:37 am | Reply
    • Dylan:

Did you actually watch that YouTube video? It’s not a review — it’s a commercial, with the person reading a script from the host “we offer… visit our website…”. It’s not very well done (probably off Fiverr or something) but is in no way shape or form a paid review.

      January 10, 2014 @ 5:20 pm | Reply
      • Your Correct, Its not a review. Its a video made by a user he made in return for a VPS.

I fùcking knew there was a catch:

Transmission, storage, or presentation of any information, data, or material in violation of the laws of The United Kingdom or the United States is prohibited.

There goes the jurisdiction benefit for hosting your VPS outside of the axi$ of cen$oring & $pying evi£ USA/UK.

It’s a cheap server, they don’t have time to deal with abuse complaints and lawsuits. And Romania has copyright laws just like other countries.

Also they’re based in U.K. so obviously they have to follow U.K. laws.

Anyway this isn’t much of a catch.

And also, if you got suspended, then you probably broke their ToS?

Offer looks nice on first see, BUT…

    3) Resource Usage Limits

    VPS accounts may not:
    a) exceed a 15 minute load average greater than two (2) times the amount of CPU cores given.
    b) run public IRCd’s or malicious bots.
    c) run any type of BitTorrent client or tracker that links to or downloads illegal content.
    d) use an Open/Public proxy, or utilize a proxy to access illegal/malicious content.
    e) use I/O intensive applications which adversely affect normal server operations.
    Shared/Reseller accounts may not:
    a) Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
    b) Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
    c) Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.
    d) Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
    e) Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared servers.
    f) Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
    g) Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc
    h) Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes.
    i) Run any MySQL queries longer than 15 seconds. MySQL tables should be indexed appropriately.
    j) When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include(“http://yourdomain.com/include.php”) use include(“include.php”)
    k) To help reduce usage, do not force html to handle server-side code (like php and shtml).
    l) Only use https protocol when necessary; encrypting and decrypting communications is noticeably more CPU-intensive than unencrypted communications.

As already said here, we run scripts that automaticcally shuts a VPS down if its breaking the ToS by example for sending Spam, CPU or I/O Abuse, or other things that affect others on the same Node.
