LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

RamNode – $15/year 128MB OpenVZ and more in 5 locations

RamNode_2014-07-24_10.59.24

Nick, from RamNode, is back with some offers for the LowEndBox community, to celebrate the launch of their Los Angeles location. This new location uses the network blend of PCCW and NTT, with Staminus for filtering.

For our new readers, RamNode is a popular provider in the LowEndBox and LowEndTalk community. They have been featured numerous times before and they came first in the last couple of Quarterly Top Provider Polls. I can also confirm the quality of their service as I am a current customer. My box with them is very fast and stable.

RamNode owns their IP space (AS3842) and all their hardware and network equipment at all of their locations. Their network blend, depending on the location, contains (amongst others): GTT, NTT, TeliaSonera, and Cogent. They recently changed their pricing system by discounting their regular prices with no need of coupons. They also included generous amount of disk space on all their plans. DDoS protection is being offered at additional cost.

Reviews of their service are generally positive and their consistent position in the Top Provide Poll attest to that. For current customers, kindly share your experiences with us in the comments section.

128MB CVZ

1024MB SVZS

512MB SKVMS

512MB CKVM

More LowEnd offers are available at their website. They are also offering the coupon WOWSSD5 that gives $5 credit for new VPS order (one per account). The credit will be added after the new VPS is ordered. The order process should be completed and credit will be added manually after verifying the order. They also provide free DNS hosting. cPanel licenses are available for $13/month.

RamNode accepts payments via PayPal and Stripe. Nothing illegal in the US or anything that is disruptive is allowed. Adult content, Tor (relays only; no exit nodes), IRC and VPN are all allowed. TUN/TAP and PPP are available. For new customers, note that there’s a 3-day refund policy in place for the first invoice, first service only! As with any host, kindly check their Terms of Service and Acceptable Usage Policy before purchasing any service.

Just in case you were wondering whether they will allow torrenting (“dmca” –> so my guess) – yes they will, but a toned down version (that is fine) but what was surprising that they allow torrents “only in USA” usually it’s the opposite that providers don’t allow torrents on their US boxes but do so on other locations like NL, FR or DE.

Anyway, this is still an awesome deal.

Pleasure. Man, even your lowest ram offer is very fast. Good cpu and io, not in terms of benchmark as I dont test that anymore. I just feel it is snappy when I do stuff inside like compress a few gigs of files.

Good luck on your business and sales

I couldn’t resist, so I got another VPS from RamNode. Here’s a ServerBear benchmark I did. RamNode is known for having rock solid performance and great customer service. The only thing is a couple of the download tests were on the slow side (but that probably has something to do with the place that’s hosting them) and the geo location of the IP address is showing up as Smarr, Georgia, USA (instead of Seattle). But I’m assuming that’s just because that’s the address that was given for RamNode’s ARIN registration, as a traceroute ends up going through a IP address with “sttlwa” (which I assume stands for Seattle, Washington) in the reverse DNS.

    • Thanks for your kind words! We can tweak geolocation to some degree with SWIP. Just open a ticket if you need assistance.

Don’t you have something like “128MB CVZ+128MB CVZ”?

Do you offer pure storage boxes (low cost disk space with less RAM and CPU) – something like budget cold storage?

(Also please consider allowing torrent on NL servers; you already limit it to “20Mbps” on a 1Gbps line – you have pretty much covered the abuses part. And USA is anyway likely to have more issues than NL in this regard)

Looking for a box to run rtmpdump once and a while. Storage and transfer limits not important. Would the 128MB CVZ work or would I need more ram + cpu?

Ramnode is , by far, the best out there. I’ve been using them for better than a year, and every time they open a new location, I just HAVE to get a new VPS ;)

Right now, I have 8 VPS’ with them, and have switched most of my stuff from dedicated to ramnode, mainly because they’re that good.

Their support can be a bit tricky , but they do what they can to help out. For an unmanaged provider, this is the best of the best

  30. My VPS stopped working after an emergency reboot was announced “to clients on NLCVZE54. The node has experienced a CPU lockup and had to be rebooted”, according to the email received last Sunday. Since then I cannot reach my server by any means other than the CP, which states it as active (???). If the problem persists the 15$ per year offer barely paid for a few days of uptime, definitely not worth it. Any solution on its way? Other than that very happy with the service, specially the free DNS and domain configuration CP.

2 questions as a VPS newbie, yesterday I have purchased 1024MB SVZS Ramnode plan for my wordpress site, I was also thinking about buying some plan for backup, is the first plan (128MB CVZ) good enough to use it for backup purposes? Another question will SolusVm manage both plans inside one account or do I have to manage 2 accounts? Sorry for those stupid questions but till yesterday I ve’used share hosting on Bluehost, so poor knowledge about that

I highly recommend them to everyone and I’ll definitely be ordering more server from them in the near future.
