Is this over? Because the price isn’t discounted.

The sale continues. What are you having a problem with so we may investigate?

      • vpsierra:

Probably the same thing I’m seeing. The $21/yr link is showing up as $72 a year, that one looks to be sold out, which is a bummer.

I agree that is a little confusing. Sorry about that!

I signed up yesterday paying by paypal and now account is suspended and marked as “fraud”. May I know what fraud you see ? Payment or my contact details ? I have raised a ticket KBN-523536 for this.
On 2nd note I could see only around 6 gb space and not 80gb.

        October 2, 2016 @ 10:52 pm
        • Khalid:

All information provided is correct along with my contact number. Besides that I have paid using my old verified paypal. I hope this has nothing to do with your T&C as suspension reason is “fraud”.

          October 2, 2016 @ 10:53 pm
          • Sadly we are unable to provide support here however I had someone address that ticket number you provided.

Can be found easy everywhere. Also reputation of this company very questionable..

    September 17, 2016 @ 9:44 am
    • 4 vCPUs
      3TB Bandwidth
      2GB RAM
      80GB HDD
      Windows Server 2012

All that for $7 a month or$72 a year ($6/Month). It is actually quite good!

Look at other sellers with those same specs:

      vultr -> $20/Month
      digital ocean -> $20/Month
LEB Deals -> $7/Month but only 1Gb RAM

Honestly not a bad deal, I mean KVM Windows servers tend to cost like $10 and up and they are selling it for $6-$7.

      • Lucas:

Hi @Click for more info :)

Guess even OVH and several others provide a better deal for 2Gb RAM with unmetered BW

        September 18, 2016 @ 6:16 pm
        • Lucas, I don’t understand, what do you mean?

          September 19, 2016 @ 3:59 pm
        • OVH has some network issues last I checked, in their BHS datacenter.

Also there they won’t really answer any support tickets, and if they do it will take ages. Not to mention OVH has some issues with internal DDoS, something with their homebuilt anti DDoS does not prevent.

Lastly, ordering with OVH is a pain in the butt. It takes weeks to get verified, you end up having to provide them passport scans and stuff, then most of the time you cannot even buy the cheapest dedi because it is constantly out of stock.

The problem with lowendbox comments is that this is all a competition and competitors love to discredit their competition. Whether posing as a disgruntled customer, someone who claims another service is better and to avoid the current one or just a shill from another company trying to shoo away customers.

I personally get nothing out of coming on here and trying to vocalixe my experience (apart from the 1 or 2 kind souls who use my referral link once in a blue moon). I get tired of seeing the same charades of faux comments and shills, so i voice my own personal experience with the company.

Sure, CVPS had some lows, but which company did not? It got hacked once, it had massive mail spam abuse problems, at one point was a one man show, got bought out twice I believe and some other things. In the end though, it is still up and running and that says a lot. It means that they are doing something right, and at least getting better over time.

I personally think I get what I pay for. The network is good, the hardware suffices and the support is there even when they really do not have to be there.

Sure you can go to OVH, but even they have a hard time beating some of CVPS’s insane holiday specials! :)

Beware! They don’t disclose a 5% convenience fee for credit cards on the signup page. Not a good way to start a relationship with an undisclosed fee.

Also, the reviews are horrible. Check Webhostingtalk and you’ll read the stories.

(let’s see if the server wont 500 on a reply)

Yea,Low End Box become Middle End Box > MEB

        September 17, 2016 @ 10:58 pm
        • Or my favorite: Pretty Low End Box or PLEB.

Granted everything has become more demanding so we are not seeing 128MB RAM servers for peanuts anymore.

          Still relatively cheap overall though.

          September 17, 2016 @ 11:23 pm
        • Samuel,

The rules have changed recently to allow higher prices because we want the LEB community to showcase offers from providers who offer higher quality. Not just the cheapest of the cheap.

            OpenVZ 1GB LEB Special $72.95 ?

            September 18, 2016 @ 6:09 am
  9. Here are some tips to new buyers from a long time customer:

    – This is unmanaged, nobody holds your hand and nobody cares about your data.

    – Keep your data backed up. Always.

    – Orders sometimes mess up and give you an IP that is in use. If you tried to SSH in and it doesn’t respond, this is likely the case so save some time and open a support ticket right then.

    – Pay using paypal even if using a credit card and paying monthly. Saves you any headache and adds a middleman, would recommend for most online purchases not just vpses.

    – When opening a support ticket try to give as much information as possible in the first ticket, bumping it with replies only delays it in the queue. Expect to wait 1-2 business days for a reply.

    – Backup your data again.

    – Do not use your vps to DDoS anything or it will get shut down. Common sense.

    – Cvps does not snoop through your data or act as data police. They merely filter spam.

    – Don’t use your box to spam people, again obvious but people still do.

    – The connection speed is normally quite good, but since it is shared it can slow down a little at times, but nothing noticeable unless someone is abusing the hell out of your node. In this case just open a ticket and tell them someone is abusing your poor poor node.

Fair warning, nothing but issues with the ridiculously cheap VPS I bought from them. Seg faults left and right, the admin panel fails to reinstall the OS when I select a new one, and essentially non-existent support. Not CloudAtCost levels of terrible, but by no means worth the price.

You get what you pay for, watch out.

    September 19, 2016 @ 7:39 pm
    • If you would like assistance feel free to drop me a ticket number and I will gladly review your issue and make sure you are on a new machine :)

You can’t discard all negative just by saying its from competitors, there are millions in hosting market.

          October 3, 2016 @ 6:13 am
          • Ironically he constantly reps cloudatacost.

CVPS’s rebuilding takes some time (~5 minutes), so if you do it too fast one after another you end up really messing the vps up. May be why you’re getting issues, or you were placed on a bad node. It also may just be due to using OpenVZ (and not KVM), as openvz is shared resources and segfaults can happen when those resources like memory allocation gets given while it was being used.

Leadt that is my hypothesis, but hey at least it works and the network is pretty good.

            October 6, 2016 @ 9:05 pm
  16. GM:

I had a similar issue trying to reinstall the OS, the panel gave me an error so I contacted them and they reinstalled the OS a few times because it stopped working after a reboot (I reported that error, they didn’t notice it).
I waited patiently for more than two weeks but they never fixed the issue, so I cancelled it.
They also charged me for a service that was already cancelled.

    September 21, 2016 @ 1:15 pm
    • I checked the ticket, we are pending a reply on if you still want the free upgrade to KVM to accommodate your needs as a courtesy as OpenVZ was causing issues for you.

Let us know via the ticket and we will take care of that for you as offered Monday and we will restart your billing period today if so.

      September 21, 2016 @ 2:17 pm
      • GM:

They offered me a free upgrade to KVM and a free month for the inconvenience so I decided to give it a try. Everything is working fine now.

    September 24, 2016 @ 8:17 pm
  22. Joe:

They have a strict no refunds policy whatsoever here, which doesn’t do much to build my confidence in trying them. When chatting with sales, only explanation was that “they had problems with refunds in the past” and that I should try a monthly plan if I am concerned.

Sounds like some pretty good customer service they have there… /s

    September 28, 2016 @ 9:42 pm
    • Sadly we have had lots of cases of abuse on a refund policy in the past. Contact us if you want to try something out for a few days as a courtesy.

      September 29, 2016 @ 4:39 am
      • Joe:

Not sure of the kind of abuse you’ve had, but if there’s no evidence of usage abuse by the customer, I don’t see what the problem with a refund would be. My main concerns are about uptime/reliability and if those aren’t met during my service I would expect a refund. Having to be at the mercy/discretion of customer service at the time of the incident isn’t very re-assuring.

        September 30, 2016 @ 5:45 pm
        • I am sorry to hear that, if there is anything else I can assist with then please let me know Joe!

    Long time ChicagoVPS customer here.

    Very good price/performance.

    My only niggles are:
    – sometimes a server goes down unannounced, so make sure to monitor your server
    – fairly regularly uptime goes below the guaranteed 99.9%, I just never bothered to
ask for a “credit” (which they offer)
    – support is responsive, but are often vague, especially when asking why a server
    went down/was unreachable

    September 29, 2016 @ 3:17 pm

  26. Passmark Benchmark of the Windows:
    CPU: 2229
    MEMORY: 636.8
    DISK: 228.6
    Partial Passmark: 538

Network speed seemed to be a fairly steady 100 down, only the upload speed fluctuated between 60 and 100.

Whether it’s worth it or not, I’d say bang for your buck wise yes. Just remember it’s unmanaged and that windows takes quite a bit of ram, so you’re left with less than 1gb of free ram to be used.

As most do, just get one as a production or test server to mess around, use for its traffic or give away. I would not readily condone hosting live servers on any unmanaged service, just for the peace of mind and safety managed services provide.

As always, if you read this and decided to jump the gun and get one, be sure to click my name as to show your thanks (if I helped you that is). ;)

        • Sadly we aren’t allowed to provide support here however I have followed up via your ticket.

          Thanks!

  29. Currently trying to get a technician install a custom version of Windows but other than that, this is a great deal! Although I do sorta dislike that VNC doesn’t work and that there’s no SolusVM panel, but other than that, this is great!

    October 10, 2016 @ 3:40 am
    • Waiting for support still, the deal is great still though.

      October 12, 2016 @ 1:00 am
      • Support has been working around the clock to accommodate all of the additional orders/support queries however feel free to pass me a ticket number if you want me to personally check things out for you :)

Trying to get a quote for 2GB Linux OVZ, but no joy.
Website says (When submitting Contact US), that there was an error

    October 14, 2016 @ 5:32 pm
    • I just personally tested the contact/ticket form and worked like a charm and submitted into our WHMCS.

      Thanks

    Hi Nick,

Will you able to create custom VPS at good pricing as well?

    October 15, 2016 @ 12:34 pm

      Thanks!

  34. Mike Solstice:

I keep giving ChicagoVPS a chance and every, single time they fall flat on their face. Took 3 reimages just to get the new VPS to power up, now I’m locked out altogether due to some absurdly complicated Windows password policy. I’m a civilian contractor with the Government, do a lot of work with the FBI; when my passwords aren’t “secure enough” you’re just flat out being paranoid. Not impressed, highly doubt we’ll keep this box. Last time I’ll be trying one of Colo’s companies, they’re all junk. Oh, and support can’t spell for beans either. Keeps saying “later” instead of “letter”, “speeshul” instead of “special” – is this a joke? Feel like I’m talking to a kindergartener.

    October 19, 2016 @ 6:11 pm
    • I am sorry to hear about the issues you faced, can you toss me a ticket number to review and get this taken care of for you Mike?

      Thanks!

I have ordered VPS server yesterday and while making a payment I got an error stating that the payment has been failed however the amount was deducted from my bank account. I have opened a ticket and it’s been more than 12 hours now but these guys haven’t resolved my issue yet. This is not the kind of support I was expecting from them.

    October 23, 2016 @ 3:16 am
    • Some new orders require manual review when they don’t pass the fraud check parameters, especially when paying with a credit card.

I see all pending transactions were approved this morning and only 2 were denied and does not look like you were one of them. If you are still having an issue after this message then please toss me a ticket number and I will personally review.

Also please keep in mind while we offer 24/7 technical support, most of our billing matters are taken care of during office hours unless critical.

      Thanks!

  36. Michael:

So I did the $7/month offer. I confirmed that the resources and statistics that were promised on this page were correct. I immediately submitted a ticket to switch to a linux node and have ubuntu 14.04 installed. The tech support on my ticket changed me to a linux node, but then my resources were cut to be at the “professional level”. They refuse to give me the full resources of this offer even though I paid for it. They will also not install ubuntu 14.04 because of an unknown reason. Can someone please help me get what I paid for? The ticket is #FSS-445544

    October 24, 2016 @ 12:48 am
    • The sale running is for the Windows VPS’s, not a linux sale so that is most likely your issue. If you could please toss me a ticket number I will address this for you on your account.

My server is down, I cant find any info on how to get to console, reboot did not work and they told me twice they missed me on Live 24/7 chat

    November 1, 2016 @ 2:25 pm
    • The live chat is really only supposed to be used for pre-sales inquiries etc.

Please pop in a ticket to the technical support team via the Client Area and they will address your ticket in the order it was received, thanks!

  39. Jack H:

Chicagovps support taking too long to respond. Why Bitcoin payments are not processed automatically ?

    November 3, 2016 @ 7:20 pm
    • I see you made a ticket @ 13:35 today and a technician replied not too long after flagging it for billing. It currently is sitting in the billing queue and has been for around a hour which is perfectly normal for a billing ticket.

A member of the billing team will get back to you by end of business today as we answer/handle tickets in the order received.

      Thanks :)

I’d like to use this for running MassPlanner. Would that in any way be violating the AUP?

    November 7, 2016 @ 12:34 pm
    • Never heard of it, as long as it doesn’t violate our TOS and is legal then you should be fine :)

      Thanks!

  42. the price is good but the service isn’t. I got 3 active contracts out of 5 and will never again deal with them. Issue after issue, after issue.

    I don’t recommend!

  43. testing-a--windows-vps-server:

Contacted this vendor for a Windows VPS recently.
After numerous qualification problems (rebuilds to unknown state, wrong OS setup, comms not working, tickets not responded to timely, billing issues–all over a few days of effort) I dropped the service.
Will try again when they get their capabilities squared away.
