Hello readers! Nathan over @ NFP Hosting sent over another set of awesome deals to share with us and they are now offering their services in three locations across the US! They were founded back in 2006, their WHOIS is public, and you can find their ToS/Legal Docs here. They accept PayPal, Credit Cards, Alipay and Bitcoin.

More about the company:

“NFPHosting.com was founded in 2006 as an e-commerce hosting provider after seeing the lack of hosts who can deliver quality. Throughout the years of learning the ins and outs of running a hosting company, and seeing the opportunities to expand in the marketplace, NFP Hosting throughout the years added additional services to serve a wider variety of markets. NFP Hosting today offers everything the basic consumer looking to start a website may need, all the way up to the advanced (technical) user looking to set up a cluster of servers. At NFP Hosting, there is no waiting around. Services are instantly provisioned, and 24/7 customer support comes standard with our plans. No compromises. No excuses. It’s really as simple as that.
We are the provider for the people. Our motto is: Premium Solutions. Friendly People. Service Delivered. This means always going above and beyond, and going the extra mile. Hence why customers love NFP Hosting. Real results, real performance!

      Hi nathan,

im having problems with nfp account. my order was declined, i tried to reorder, still declined, but later found out that i was charged. though after a day the staff fixed it, but they failed to recognize that the two (2) order was for the same account so i have an extra.

i tried to ask for customization, but up to now im still waiting for an answer. i asked that my “budflick package” is given (1) unlimited domain + (2) 30gb disk, and my “park package” given the (1) unlimited domain add-on.

and as of now, i again sent a support ticket. i cannot upload a thing to the host! as soon as the upload is finished, the uploaded files are also deleted.

i hope you can read this,

The 6GB RAM VDS (Semi-Dedicated) offer is amazing (just picked one up today for a client) and thinking of ordering a second one, but just curious about incremental disk space cost as well (looking to replace an OpenVZ server of mine that currently has 150GB on it) — Could you shoot me the estimated cost to bump the space up to 150GB?

      Thanks!

Hi! What do you mean by being “Semi-Dedicated” for your 6GB RAM VDS plan? How is it different from your 1GB and 2GB RAM KVM, aside from the obvious specs of course.

    May 4, 2018 @ 11:14 pm | Reply
    • Hey Marvin,

All KVM resources are fully dedicated.

However, Semi-Dedicated is just a larger server, with less VPS per node – therefore it’s better for power users or for those that want additional assurance that they’re sharing the physical server with fewer people.

I have a 1GB VPS plan that was $9 a year with NFP Hosting and the VPS is so slow. It takes 15 minutes to install a 30 Kb package with yum and 10 seconds to open a small text file in vim even though there is 0 load on the server and barely 50 MB of ram used. They are clearly oversold. Support is saying they want to wipe my vm and put me on another server which is ridiculous. Nathan ignored my emails and I am thinking of getting a refund or disputing the charge with my credit card company.

Sorry to hear about any performance issues you’re having, sounds like you did the right thing reaching out to Nathan. I’d say just be patient because he always gets back to me whenever I email him, I’m sure he’ll get back to you shortly. I also just emailed Nathan and linked him to your comment in case he missed you. But either way, I wouldnt worry about it.

I personally have a VPS in LA and performance outperforms my OVH VPS in Canada, so if you’re having performance issues like you say, i don’t think it’s normal, but I’m also sure they will fix it.

      Have a good weekend!

I believe OS plays a big role in the speed and different sites provide different results.

I bought the 2GB KVM plan with 1 Gbps add-on and was wondering the same thing.

            Results:
            For Windows:

          • Hey, thanks for the tip Gsea4!

For KVM VPS customers to achieve maximum network speeds you’ll definitely want to make sure virtio is enabled as your network driver, you can set that within SolusVM.

Please also keep in mind that speedtest is not designed for testing server connections, there are definitely more accurate ways of measuring server speeds!

Yes, cPanel VPS licenses are available, I can do it for $13.95/mo, just shoot over a ticket to sales with VPS IP to license :)

As for bandwidth overages, there are no overages, you will be sent email reminders when you are near your bandwidth allocation limits, and suspended if you exceed it before upgrading it. However IMO we provide more than enough bandwidth for most use cases :) The bandwidth meter is reset every month.

Here’s a review of this host:

Oh boy, where to start, so many things that could go right, go wrong. To start off with, I purchased their first deal in hopes of trialing their windows server and seeing their network speeds. Turns out, the windows compatibility they advertised isn’t actually able to run windows! Go figure!

So I ask for my money back,
I get denied, because their policy is entirely made-up, and refunds are only given if they feel as if they’ve done something wrong. I mention I’d be going through PayPal to get my money back, and that’s what I get threatened by their “director of support”, that he would close my account, and ignored my request for a refund.

I decide to buy their 6gb RDP, and give them a benefit of the doubt, they have such great reviews, or so I thought… Now I’m starting to think they’re fake. Been going back and forth with support to get a 1gbps line that they advertised. Guess what? Speeds are closer to 85 mbps than they are anywhere near 1000 mbps. I’d expect at least 500? Nope. Divide it by 10 and that’s what you get on a bad day.

    tl;dr
Support replies are typically 8-10 hours, their refund policy is non-=existant, support claims to have set my line to 1 gbps about 6 times now. Not even once was it at even 50% of 1gbps. Either a) they’re overselling, or b) have no idea what they’re doing.

    Warmest regards,
    Sasha

I agree that the Director of Support seems to be a little bit unfriendly and does not seem to read the questions carefully, but the Client Support guy was very nice.

I think the speed has to do with OS as I mentioned in above reply. I wanted to try Windows also. When I bought the 1GB Plan I didn’t pay attention to the storage so I had to cancel it and purchased the 2GB plan with larger storage. They have a 3 day money back policy, so I put in a request for refund on the 1GB plan that I cancelled within 3 days. Client Support could not help, waiting for the Director of Support to reply. :|

What is the deal with Director of Support?
I open Ticket, asking If I could get free upgrade from my current VPS to this deal. Because my current VPS and this deal both have same price at $18/year.

Director of Support just open a new invoice and charge me extra $9.28

I didn’t agree on this charge. Director of Support didn’t ask me if I want to pay for extra fee to upgrade.

Unfortunately I’m into NFP for about $30 as I spent some money on one of their annual plans with quite a few upgrades hoping all would be good given mostly positive consumer reviews. Although support was quick to respond to my setup and migration request to another node, the service and speed was very poor. I tried both CentOS Web Panel and cPanel on a recommended-spec (cPanel) server and it was performing ridiculously poorly, load times 15x greater than any other server I’ve had thus far, and all support had to say was the high server load (which resulted in high load times) was at fault for a lack of resources. But yet I had a server with the same specs at another host and had no problem (actually one of the hosts I did the above calculation on.) Another one of my close partners also tried a NFP server and he concurred the server was much slower and was able to handle very little loud.

While trying to contact support, it was dubbed my problem and fault, and that NFP’s nodes were fine. I washed my hands and left it be since there was no considerations on helping me and that was made clear.

I wish you all the best in your future business, but if you’re looking for performance, my review is negative.

    Best of luck,
    Brandin.

I will also share some details exclusive to my tickets:
-I opened my ticket as requested to get my addons activated (which IMO the Support team should get notification the addons need to be activated…) and also requested be transferred to another location as I selected the wrong one. Support addressed only the first question which meant I had to contact back.
-On another occasion I asked for pricing on additional IPs, it took almost 24 hours to receive a pricing on this, and I had to contact them back to get the price.
-I opened a ticket to let them know that the hyperlink in their Support Reply (support.nfphosting.com) returned a SSL Cert Error in Chrome and other browsers (Chrome is my primary) and was just trying to do them a favor, provided them screenshots, and this was something I shouldn’t have ever had to do, and they continued to say the problem was not on their end, it was one on mine. I left that be since it isn’t my site, was just trying to help.

I had other tickets opened, but closed them figuring they wouldn’t have gotten appropriate answers anyways, and moved my site elsewhere.

It is true that with OpenVZ, your container shares the same kernel as the host node. That is just how OVZ works.

If you’re looking to run Docker, or your own kernel, you should consider a KVM VPS. We have both OpenVZ & KVM offers right here in this very post :)

I would highly recommend this hosting provider to anyone. Good pricing (extremely fair/reasonable), quick & fast support (haven’t had to wait more than a few hours), and some of the best network speeds I’ve seen !

This company is confusing and amateur, you offer VPS KVM Windows OS for $ 2.95 (1GB RAM KVM plan), after the customer buy, is forced to upgrade disk (despite being offered in advertisement), support is time consuming and confusing (do not know if it is a confusing team, or just 1 user playing with us)

I asked my VPS KVM about 2 days not working, they simply told me that I should upgrade disk to use Windows (although LEB offer this of course it supported Windows):

    • Hey guys,

There are definitely no bait and switch tactics here, but rather a genuine mistake. Due to Windows not being supported on such a small disk space size, we have removed Windows as an option for the $2.95 plan.

For anyone who ordered the $2.95 plan before this, feel free to open a support ticket, reference this post, and we’ll bump your storage up to 30GB at no additional charge as a good-will effort to make this right.

We are additionally happy to provide refunds, as we’re not interested in holding anyone’s money who is not 100% satisfied with our services.

NFP 2GB ‘special’ ordered. It took a couple of days to get a system that could actually be accessed. Debian 9 install didn’t go very well it seems. It took a bit of back and forth with tickets to get SSH accessible and a root password that works.

After that the system is very laggy, like it’s been ‘swapped out’ by the host it’s running on? Over-allocated? I don’t know if it would be better if it was used more but it’s giving me pause to consider if I want to have migrate to that system.

The control panel and VNC console is very nice though, and the tech support people are good, I just think they need to get more familiar with installing Debian 9 without suggesting I revert to Debian 8 at the first sign of trouble.

This is a rat’s arse of a company. Their support is actually fairly rapid which is a good thing because I have to make almost daily requests. It’s about 50/50 whether your VPS will be up or not at any one time and in two months I’ve had several cases of it going down (freshly installed OS) and failing to boot. Only fix, reinstall the thing.

They’re cheap, that’s true. Overstuffed to hell I suspect but nonetheless, that’s why I tried one for experimentation not production where I can live with it not being so fast. But the constant downtime and failure, you’re basically giving them money for nothing. I’ve given up.

Stick to using a quality service, it’ll save you money in the long run.

Quite lovely offer, and MORE than perfect for the price – I went for the 1yr plan. I never had a VPS before, so I did need some support (entirely due to me being daft). I wouldn’t expect to be able to run anything demanding on the system for that price. For now I only use it for caching (incoming) emails for my own server, and it’s MORE than enough for that.

Support is awesome too, fast and responsive.

Some notes for anyone as clueless with VPS like me:
    1) If you’re on Linux run resize2fs, because the image doesn’t use the entire disk (took me entirely too long to realize that)
    2) The Ubuntu image is outdated (17.04), so… update before you do anything :)
    3) Keep in mind there’s encrypted VNC access to the VPS, so if you wonder why your box is hanging… use VNC, it’ll give you access to the system even if the OS isn’t booting.
    4) There’s TWO logins, one to manage your account, one to manage the VPS. If you need to reinstall the VPS you can only do this from the management page. You can boot/reboot the VPS from both the account and the management page though.

Bottom line for me… if no deal-breaking issues crop up in the next month or so, I’ll definitely use one of their more performance-oriented plans for work purposes.

Just thought I would add my 2c worth here and say I have 4 vps’s and 1 shared service with NFP for a few months now and have been very happy with the service and support. The services themselves and the support guys have been professional and given the great price points unbeatable at the moment. Thanks to Nathan and his team and no I don’t get any benefit out if saying this :). Andy.

The company has generated a certain headache, the support is slow, my windows server went offline for no reason at all, and the company does not respond.

Don’t bother with this company, the ordering process allowed me to order the semi dedicated service and took my payment, however I had to raise a support ticket hours later to ask why it was still pending.
Hourse later I got the answer that they are building a new node, I immediately responded asking for a refund, no answer, so I raised a Paypal case asking for the refund, many hours later I get
[Not until the dispute has been closed.

    Thank you!

I bought a cheap hosting with them, pretty slow, unstable, and useless because of that.
After that I received a mail for a VPS sale, I decided to give them a second chance. The mail didn’t report how the system was virtualized, so I asked if it could support Windows. The customer care told me expressly to send them the downloadable link. So what? After I bought a Windows Server license, they tell me it’s OpenVZ. I got the refund for the VPS, but now I paid MS for a Windows Server I will never use. They are so unprofessional. Bad choice guys if you decide to deal with them. Just stay in touch on LEB and you will find much better companies! :)

What a joke this service is. Less than $1 a month is exactly what it is.

    I got the same experiences;
Ordered and paid for a domainname and the 6GB VDS.
The VDS won’t even boot and the domain name is never registered.

    Do you provide https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ scores?
Can we use CPU 100%? I want to run distributed computing (BOINC) for Cancer Research.

Hahaha, you’re doing what I was doing 2 years ago: I was buying CPU power to “donate” it to BOINC projects. I was kicked by 2 VPS providers out of 4. Of the 2 VPS providers that kept me:
      – one wanted a max CPU usage of 40% (which I could throttle down using BOINC settings)
      – the other one throttled my VPS from their side….
Obviously: all VPS are sharing the same CPU power of the underlying (cheap) dedicated server, so they will not like it if you “steal” 20-25% of their CPU power 24/7…

I have ordered a premium server on the 19th/20th of last month.
My server never worked. First it took some two days to provision, and I had to push the provisioning with a ticket.

Then the server was never able to get started.
Till today I am waiting for the ticket to get resolved. My request for information on the 26th got a standard reply (same as on the 23rd), and yesterday’s one went unanswered.

*Somehow* I cannot recommend this service.

    Hello Nathan,

Are these LEB KVM Specials recurring? I.e. is it 15$ a year forever for the 1GB KVM?

    Thanks

  74. Adam:

I ordered the 6GB KVM semi dedicated server on 6/30. I wasn’t provisioned immediately, so the next morning (7/1) I sent in a ticket (#438141) and was told it would be setup within 24 hours.

24 hours pass and no server yet (7/2), so I ask again what is going on. Didn’t hear back for a day despite 2 more replies, first for an update, second for a refund (now its 7/3).

I then started a separate ticket (#908469) asking for a refund while I was within the 3 day money back guarantee window (it is titled “Refund me”). The reply was to wait 2 more days and they would have a server in DC for me. I said I don’t want to wait, I want a refund now, to which they responded “Please be informed that we are checking your issue further and shall get back to you soon. Thanks for your patience in advanced.”

I am now waiting for a refund after almost 3 days of terrible communication and service, while they try to get me to wait 5 days to get the server. I must say at this point I don’t trust them and don’t want to do business with them.

All this was so easy to avoid if they just stopped selling VPS servers when they run out of stock. Plenty of other places do it, but NFP just ask you to wait indefinitely. Be prepared and forewarned.

I haven’t had any major issues to note with NFP. I got one of their Black Friday specials last year, and their service has surprisingly exceeded my expectations, especially for the price (and to this day, still does).

  76. Noel Jacques:

I have had nothing but problems with NFP. Server will run fine for a couple of days, then slows to a crawl. Everytime I raise the issue with support, I get boilerplate answers and no solutions. If I complain enough then they offer to migrate my VPS to another box. Moving the VPS around is not a solution, it’s a temporary patch. They are way over provisioned, and cannot keep up.

Avoid these guys at all cost.

Their support is very slow in responding. Also the T & C is not clear whether to refund your money in cash or just in credit (which would be horrible if you don’t like their support at all).

I ordered 2 KVMs but still haven’t got it ready. The first KVM already took almost 24 hours but no access is obtained until today.

    Just to give my feedback:
    – Ordered the 6GB Semi Dedicated (1 year) thought that resources was dedicated but upon testing my software CPU was averaging 50% for a 4Core compared to my Singapore VPS which is only running 5% using same software so I guess that’s why the price is very low.

    – Ordered another 6GB Semi Dedicated after a week and guess what, VPS was offline after the order for 3 days and I don’t know when will they finish it.

Having the same problem. I’ve opened 3 tickets, encompassing 6 instances of the host being found offline without explanation.

This 6GB Semi Dedicated really a waste of money and time. Requested Windows 2008 ISO because it can’t handle Windows 2012 and now installation of Windows took 1 Day. Then when you run Windows Update you’ll get a black screen when updates are installing BOOM, you need to install windows again. Had tested many providers and this is really the worst in all of them.

After 6 months with NFP and 5 services my conclusion is to not use them. I had a good start but over time the services have increasingly had offline time and high loads of up to 8 when there is zero activity on the vps. Supports standard answer is we have optimised the node and when that does not get rid of you they offer to move your body to another node requiring a rebuild. Such a shame. It started off with such promise but sadly NFP is the same quality as Alpharacks. My advice, look elsewhere, this company will cost you big time.

I paid 9usd for VPS yearly plan. Cheap yes, but after 3 months it’s barely usable. Very slow both the vps AND the hosting control panel.

Calculating the payment over number of usable months it boils down to 3usd/month. If I add the trouble of installation/configuration you’ll see that nfphosting is not a cheap option.

Their support is also slow. Don’t fall for their cheap offers. Look elsewhere.
