Contrary to that, Woot Hosting is actually one of my favorite hosting providers when it comes to support. I haven’t ever used another provider that provides as much attention to detail when it comes to support. Response times are decent as well.

I would like an opportunity to investigate what happened and resolve the issue, if allowed, and possible. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at jason@woothosting.com and provide either your client info, a ticket #, or a description of what occurred.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Their support isn’t bad.. perhaps a little too zealous with abuse flagging, but overall provided you have a reasonable explanation of why things are, its not bad.

    • Quite true. I’d asked them about a simple mod_rewrite issue, which needs to be done from their end; and guess what? Its been like 3-4 days now, and the support struggling with it, despite me giving them the clue & they are reluctant to even escalate the tickets to someone sound technically.

Wow, nice offers. I just opened a ticket for the bonus month, lets see if the support is quick, but I know its the weekend so I’m not holding my breath.

I just signed up for the second WHM reseller hosting plan, which I hope will be good for hosting my clients websites (I’m a web designer).

Support ended up getting back to me in under 15 minutes after submitting the request, cheers. The WHM reseller is working out nicely so far, much faster than BlueHost if I have to be honest.

I’m glad to hear that the service you’re receiving is working out well and that we’re able to supply you with a service level that is an improvement over your previous provider.

        • Gintoku and Jeff,

First off, I’d like to apologize for the inconvenience. Based upon my experience with this issue, it appears that there might be something (some text) within the ticket that is triggering modsecurity rulesets we have in place for our corporate web server. If you are still encountering this issue, or if you’d like to identify what is causing the issue, please feel free to send the initial message to support@woothosting.com so we can take a look.

Additionally (for future reference) – if you receive this error again, you can circumvent this by sending your request directly to support@woothosting.com

Again, I do apologize for the inconvenience.

I signed up for these guys last month on their last offer.

Initial sign up experience was OK, the only issue I had was waiting 30 minutes for my invoice to be marked as paid. This was my fault though, cuz it was due to paying with 2Checkout, and I guess all payments through 2Checkout go thru manual screening? I contacted support and they told me to use PayPal in the future if I’m in a rush.

A month down the road, the VPS is still working well. No complaints, everything work and I’m very happy. I hope they keep up the service quality and don’t let me down like my last host.

    • Hi Adrian,

I’m pleased to hear that your experience with our service has been to your satisfaction (and I apologize for the initial frustration during sign-up — you are correct, 2co does sometimes take a fair bit of time screening transactions before they approve them and forward the details to us).

If there’s ever anything we can assist you with, please feel free to reach out directly (jason@woothosting.com) or open a ticket with our support team (feel free to mention my name so that the ticket is assigned to me).

I did try to reach out to you on a previous thread – I’d like to investigate and hopefully resolve the issue that was encountered. It is not our intention to suspend anyone’s VPS without sufficient reasoning, and then, once done, without providing the client with comprehensive information so that the issue can be worked through and ideally resolved.

Does your OpenVZ kernel support Docker?

    April 1, 2017 @ 7:16 pm | Reply
    • Hi Ortan, great question — right now our OpenVZ kernels (and thus OpenVZ VPS services) do not unfortunately support Docker. We have (and continue to) investigated ways to resolve this so that it can be offered (we’ve had some semi-positive success, though it seems to involve quite a bit of tinkering and the stability we’re seeing is… while ok for a development environment, not suitable for a production environment that we can provide to clients yet).

In the meantime, our KVM-based plans will be the most flexible and cost-effective VPS option that we have available that will support Docker :) — hopefully we have something on promotion right now that would suit your requirements and budget — if not, feel free to contact me directly at jason@woothosting.com (or by opening a ticket and mentioning my name so that it’s flagged for me) and let me know what you’re looking for.

    • Absolutely, while the particular 512MB KVM special comes with a 100Mbps port speed by default, a 1Gbps port speed can be had for a nominal fee of $3/year. If you were desiring to upgrade the port on this package, you’d want to select this addon in the order form or open a support ticket for help.

It’s important to ask this and I certainly do understand the concern here. Our offers are based upon making use of surplus capacity that we have across a multitude of nodes, thus, be assured these offers are both sustainable (to us) and also permitting the avoidance of a situation where nodes are oversold and overcrowded.

My apologies for any inconvenience and to a certain extent, I can further explain. We’ve recently received an unusual influx of a certain type of order pattern that has resulted in PayPal disputes.

Once this came to our attention, and in order to actively mitigate this, we’ve been requesting additional verification information from orders that resemble the pattern.

I do of course apologize if this has come as a surprise, or as something worse — that is surely not my intention. I’ll follow up with you personally through our ticketing system momentarily, as it is my intent to find a positive outcome – one in which we can continue working together.

Do you allow owncloud to be run on that shared hosting plan?

    April 3, 2017 @ 2:31 pm | Reply
    • Hi Brian,

Based upon what I’m finding, in terms of documentation upon the ownCloud site / GitHub documentation pages, it does appear that (from a resource and hosting package perspective), you would need a VPS package, rather than a shared hosting plan. Some of the information I reviewed was found here: https://github.com/owncloud/core/wiki/Reviews-tutorials-and-videos-of-ownCloud

It does look like this software is rather flexible in regards to how it can be configured, so in the event that I might be overlooking the particular style in which you are planning to use ownCloud with our hosting services – please feel free to open a support ticket with us (support@woothosting.com) – our support team will review options with you and I will oversee the correspondence so that we get you situated on a plan that is most suitable for you =)

      1. Mine shows as a Shared IP. I assume it’s due to a special bundle maybe?
      2. According to my account, it’s $5 a year.
      3. Yes, I created a Let’s Encrypt SSL for my account on Woot.
      4. Unfortunately I have no idea for this one…

      April 6, 2017 @ 10:23 pm | Reply
    • Hi Enigma,

While the normal (list price package) Reseller 200 plan does have a dedicated IP – with the promotion you are being provided much the same plan, but initially with a shared IP address. A dedicated IP address (along with a few other options) are listed and available upon the order form. The cost for a dedicated IP address is only $5/year.

Regarding Let’s Encrypt SSL, yes! This is included with all of our reseller (and shared) hosting packages… and also completely free of charge.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any other questions (as well as backup options – we have a few so let’s talk and we can clarify requirements) – jason@woothosting.com

      Thanks again!

Snagged the first reseller hosting promo just now, with the free month offer they are doing it was really a no brainer! I’m a college student and could use the extra money selling some hosting to my friends and customers as a little side hustle.

Haven’t really had a chance to use my reseller yet (it is 11:48 PM here and I need to hit the sack, got a final tomorrow). My initial feeling is good though, in case anyone is wandering they provide white label hostnames and nameservers so my customers won’t know I’m reselling woothosting.

I’ll check it out tomorrow when I get back on my computer.

Jason, do you guys have Let’s Encrypt capability with these??

I have been using WootHosting for a little over four months by now and I can vouch for their service. If you are looking for a hosting service that won’t give you any headaches, WootHosting is the way to go. I opened a ticket with them at 4 AM one time with a quick question because I just happened to be up early, and I was shocked to get a response in ~10 minutes as I wasn’t expecting that quick of an answer. Good to know that they are there for when I need them to be there!

Our KVM VPS services run upon a variety of hardware configurations – however most of them are based upon Intel Xeon E5-2600 architecture. For anyone wondering, I got the Spring KVM VPS Promotional Special – 2GB and the Spring Reseller Hosting 200GB. There were only a few issues (I added SSH access to the reseller, I needed to contact support for the ISO/VNC access), but they are really quick to respond — ssh was added less than 5 minutes after the ticket was sent in — and everything is working as expected. An awesome deal I’ll be happy to renew for the next years to come.

My question is do you offer WHMCS licenses as an addon to the Reseller account’s? I’d love to move my slow expensive reseller account over to your fast server but I have to have WHMCS.

    • Hi Tim,

I’m so pleased to hear that your experience with our services has been positive – and we’re glad to hear that you’re interested in moving additional opportunities over to us :)

Regarding WHMCS, in the somewhat near future, we will be providing additional software licenses (WHMCS is planned to be one of them), however, right now, the best and easiest way that clients are hosting WHMCS upon our services is by obtaining the licenses directly through whmcs.com and hosting it on a server they have with us. This, for right now, is what I would recommend — when we do have the capabilities to provide this license directly, we’ll be making an announcement and if the pricing we can provide is lower than whmcs.com’s, then it will be sensible at that time to perhaps consider obtaining the WHMCS license through us, rather than through them directly. WHMCS can be installed within a few clicks automatically using the Softaculous Auto Script Installer available in our cPanel control panel.

If in the meantime I can address any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly (jason@woothosting.com) or through a support ticket.

  41. I new to this. In term of hosting. Is there any beneficial ordering VPS, instead of the reseller hosting ?
Because for some reason, reseller hosting has more features (cpanel, whm, ssh, etc), and have more space and bandwidth.

    • not to mention it is cheaper

      April 12, 2017 @ 3:57 am | Reply
      • Hi Yoko,

These are two related, but very different services — a reseller hosting package would be ideal if you were to be interested in setting up websites, email, etc and want to do so via a nice and user-friendly interface (cPanel/WHM). This type of service (shared or reseller hosting) is already predefined and so the uses that it can be used for are very powerful, but also at the same time limited, compared to a VPS.

A VPS can be purposed for a great many uses, one of which COULD be for webhosting/email/etc (for example, you could purchase a cPanel license and install it upon a VPS and do everything the reseller package can (and more)) — however, the license for cPanel would of course add to the cost, and it would make this type of service more expensive than if you were to just opt for the reseller hosting package alone.

A VPS could run many services (game server, an application, etc) simultaneously because it gives you access to the server beyond simply an interface (like cPanel). I’ll use the following pizza analogy =)

If a dedicated server is the full pizza, a VPS is like a slice of that pizza, and a reseller hosting package would be a topping on that slice of pizza. So with the reseller hosting package, you’re buying a specific topping (like pepperoni), whereas, with the VPS you get something more flexible (it’s more than just pepperoni), you get a full cheese pizza slice. With that cheese pizza slice you can do a great many things with it (you can even put pepperoni on it)…

I’d be more than happy to discuss with you in greater detail and discover which hosting implementation would be most suitable for your needs if you email me directly and let me know more about your environment and goals.

I can be reached at jason@woothosting.com to answer any questions – I look forward to hearing from you =)

        • From your explanation, I think REseller Hosting is All I need. I am just looking for provider to host my websites. I need a lot of bandwidth and space. That’s why i am looking for vps. But since reseller hosting has more space and bandwidth than the vps, i will stick to the reseller hosting.

And I have already buy the reseller hosting package.

I don’t take writing lukewarm or negative feedback lightly. I really don’t. But although I have enjoyed some of the positives of Woothosting for the past few months, my frustration has reached new heights.

My servers keep getting slower and slower to respond. Sometimes to “cd” into a directory on relatively fresh install can take about 30 seconds. But – and here’s a general positive – when I have opened a ticket, the support has managed to address this. A couple of times, they moved my server to another node.

A couple of days ago, mid-development, I was again getting extremely slow response on ssh and I opened a ticket and asked for help, potentially moving the server. After a few back and forths, the support created a new server and without asking, confirming, warning…wiped all of my work. And the new install was not even the previous OS. And support since that has been most unhelpful.

    Can’t beat these plans!

I’ve been looking for some decent (and inexpensive) Reseller hosting. Picked up the 100GB plan today. I’ve had 3-4 questions and support has been quick to respond. Really appreciate that.

One issue that puzzled me … For some reason CPU usage was up to 96% even though I was only uploading a WordPress site (from local server) and doing a few tasks in cPanel. Hoping this is not the norm because what happens when I’m actually using the website or add some others and have some traffic?

All in all, still a good experience. SSL (via Let’s Encrypt) works right out the box. It’s easily enabled through cPanel. Neat! And SSH is available (I ticked it during signup, sent a ticket to support, they activated it within minutes.)

I’m new to VPS but not to Linux servers. Took advantage of one of the great deals offered here by Woothosting. Things started off great, then the node bogged down. Jason was very helpful in getting this resolved (moved server to a new node) and things are better than ever. There is also some poor guy named Eddie who Jason keeps chained to his computer that responds to most issues within a few hours 24/7 :).

Jason clearly takes his business seriously and provides great support. Lots of folks here are reselling the same product (Quadranet data center) — the difference is in the support you get.

Jason, I got 2 Spring KVM VPS Promotional Special – 2GB which are both in LA. Is it possible to have one of them moved to Miami? I don’t see an option to do this on the website. My previous provider had this option (with a fee of course). I opened a ticket late last night and after getting what seemed like a canned reply, I’ve not heard back. I just want to ask if this is something that can be done or not. Thanks!

    Hi,
    I have several question,

Spring Reseller Hosting 200GB, is this offer same as Master Reseller Plan?
    https://www.woothosting.com/pulse/cart.php?gid=3

    support white label?

can you share the main server spec?

shared IP for IPV4 or IPV6?

    additional cost for ssh access?

    thank you

    April 19, 2017 @ 12:24 pm | Reply
    • Hello Adhie,

While this particular special is based upon “Reseller” packages we offer (and Reseller hosting services are empowered by a great many number of tools and abilities — including those to create sub cPanel accounts), the “Master Reseller” services would be available, based upon this promotional pricing, for only an additional $10/year. To take advantage of this, just go ahead and contact us via our sales department and mention this post (sales@woothosting.com).

Regarding white-labeling: Yes! We provide white-label hostnames and nameservers — also, clients who are interested in white-labeling will often times set up their own custom nameservers.

Node hardware wise – it does have a bit of variation from node to node, however, our typical configuration is: Dual E5-2620, 32 to 64 GB RAM, 4x 2TB HDD Hardware RAID10.

Regarding IPv4 and IPv6: by default, this promo comes with a shared IPv4 and IPv6 address, however, a dedicated IPv4 address can be provided for $5/year (an option available upon the order form), and dedicated IPv6 addresses can be provided by contacting our support department at any time (and there’s no charge for dedicated IPv6 space).

Lastly, we do have the option (also upon the order form for this special) for SSH access, the cost of which is just $1.50/year and can be added at any time (or at the time of ordering).

If there’s anything else I can address or assist you with, please let me know — we look forward to working with you!

    Hi,
I don’t understand all the positive raving here because I’m having all sort of issues with WootHosting from the very day I signed up for hosting package. I still have VPS servers with Hostodo, HostUs.us and chicagovps and they seem to have much better performing servers than WootHosting. I also recommended reseller hosting package to my friend based on positive rating here and he is also having same issues. His site is also currently down while I’m writing this. Please check http://srijanspectrum.com and you’ll notice how slow the server is.
Jason, I also emailed you. Please move my accounts to a more stable server.

While a great deal of received attacks (as is the nature of the internet these days) is filtered without impacting clients, I do apologize for any inconvenience encountered.

  51. The Re-accommodator:

Hello all! I recently purchased both the re-seller hosting and the VPS, however I can say that for the same price, you should go for the VPS. The re-seller hosting is so slow you can barely host one site, however with my VPS I am self-hosting hundreds of sites.

The only downside is that the support kinda sucks (Jason was cool, tho) and they also are a little shady. I logged into my server via SSHD and found that there was 76 failed log-ins prior to me logging in. This is seriously shady that they can manage and change your information so long as you change your password through their VPS manager. PLEASE change your password to something VERY different from what you give them in the “change password” section after a re-image. I hate to be all “Tin-Foil-Hat” over here, but… Stop it WootHosting.. Please.

    • Douglas:

Dude, how is that their fault and why would they care about accessing your server? LOL. Every public IP out there is suspectible of being bruteforced. It doesn’t matter if your VPS is from Godaddy or if its from WootHosting there always WILL be bruteforce attempts by automated robots out there. As long as you have a secure password, you will be fine and have nothing to worry about. What I do is keep my passwords secure, and also change the SSH port to something other than the default 22.

In addition to that I install a firewall called ConfigServer Firewall for extra security.

    • Hello The Re-accommodator!

Sadly, as mentioned by others, brute force attacks are relatively common nowadays by probing entities across the internet, as such, it is always good to have a strong password, change it at reasonable intervals, and perform some best-practice basic security housekeeping on an on-going basis. I do sincerely apologize for any surprise or inconvenience caused by this and I would be more than happy to address this issue or any other that may be encountered (also, please let me know if the slowness experienced and mentioned within this post is still an issue that is persisting so that I can address it). Please feel free to send me an email directly even if all issues are resolved at this time, just to introduce yourself and establish a dialogue.

I can be reached at jason@woothosting.com directly if I can ever be of any help =)

You do realize that failed login attempts will occur the moment the service is powered on vm or dedicated server as there are dedicated bot’s scanning huge ip ranges looking for a insecure service to compromise.

Also why would your host want to attempt to break into your server via ssh when as openvz can be logged in from the host via vzctl enter CTID

I wounder if they sell tinfoil hats on ebay…..

I’m not complaining about support as Eddie has been fielding my many support tickets and attempts to help fix whatever the problem is. (Heroic!)

But I do wonder if Reseller + Dedicated IP is one offering that needs to come off the table? Or if some further behind-the-scenes testing needs to be done to get it right before resellers ask for that dedicated IP?

  58. Hi all!

We’re pleased to officially announce to the LowEndBox Community our East Coast data center expansion (Miami!)

In our latest client feedback poll, Miami received an overwhelming number of votes and it’s no surprise: Miami is well-known for providing quality connectivity across the East Coast, the United States in general, to South America, and more!

For clients who presently have services in one of our other locations, consider these specials for geographic diversity (a backup location, a secondary location to load balance with, etc).

    Miami Network Test IP: 173.44.32.10

Both OpenVZ and KVM based VPS specials are available in our Miami facility, and you can select your desired location in the order form!

I encourage anyone who is interested, or has questions about our Miami facility, or the services offered within it, to contact me either by sales@woothosting.com or directly at jason@woothosting.com

    Thanks!

I now have two KVMs from Woot, one in LA and one in Miami, and I am very pleased with both. I see the comments about slow support, but I have found Jason to be very responsive. Ordering a KVM from them was a bit quirky. When I ordered it gave me an invoice and said something about payment failed, before I even tried to pay. Then I clicked the payment link and paid. I admit, it was frustrating but I’m glad I stuck with it. Soon after I had my first KVM.

As to the actual KVMs, both have been stable. They have good connectivity and performance. And really, you can’t beat the price for what you get. I just hope he openes up in the US midwest soon!

Uptime:- 99.9% Sever was down for a couple of minutes once due to DDOS I Guess
Speed:- Great, ping is 1ms in West Coast and average of 5-6ms in East Cost!
Support:- Tickets were answered in a matter of minutes, max an hour…. being frank their support is better than giants like godaddy etc, I kind of think eddie is
Setup Time:- Instantly, I had no issues setting up the server, unlike some people said about the delays.
Addons:- Well all my addons like dedicated IP, SSH etc were added to my account in a span of an hour.

Overall:- Thanks a lot Guys!!! It has been pleasure working with you all….. Keep up the good work!!!

Stay away from woothosting, Server57 is unstable, over sold all accounts put it on the same server. I have requested the migration of my account to a new stable server and they refuse to do so. Yesterday and today the server is offline.
Do not buy, repeat do not buy any service, stay away from them

          • Hi Jasen, I have also created a support ticket. While your support acknowledged that there is an issue with server57, but no solution yet. Its been two weeks now. All my sites are down since yesterday and I run adwords. I can’t even login to cpanel or WHM to take a backup of my sites. What is going on?

I recently got two VPS’s from them, a KVM and an OpenVZ and would like to mention how great they are.

I’ve had a few VPS’s before but they had awful limits, but WootHosting really delivers what you expect.

I also had to go through their support system to get some options enabled and their service is incredible fast.

The bottom line is: Not only do they have the best prices, they are really the best.

Totally waste of money! I know It’s little.

22/7 down the server and overselling.

    • Server57 which was originally assigned was plagues with bumpiness and slowness. However, they migrated all accounts over to Server60 about 10 days ago and the service has been blazing fast. No downtime, no slowness. Must give credit when it is deserved.

I still don’t know how they make money with such low prices.

@Jason Chung, if ever you feel like business is not profitable, please feel free to charge me more but keep up this amazing service level.

      • Hi Enigma!

I greatly appreciate that you took the time to assist a fellow community member, and I’m furthermore, pleased to hear that the issue that was being encountered has since been resolved with the migration to server60. Furthermore, I do sincerely apologize for the issues that were encountered prior.

Regarding pricing, our promotional offerings mostly utilize surplus capacities that we have, but the added revenue does add additional security against such internal operational considerations inherent with running a hosting company, like periodic increases of infrastructure costs (power rates, etc), and it also plays an important role in increasing the robustness of our support team (which becomes beneficial to both the clients we obtain through this community, as well as our others, most of which pay list pricing). Rest assured though, pricing is sustainable and we have absolutely no intention on ever increasing service costs to existing clients – I appreciate your offer but your pricing isn’t going up =)

Please feel free to reach out if there’s ever anything I can assist you with, I sincerely value your business!

    • Hi Rogel,

I sincerely apologize if you’ve encountered issues with one of our services and I’d like to speak with you and help any way I can. As Engima mentioned, to ward off performance issues caused by unforeseeable circumstances, a number of clients were migrated to more robust infrastructure and I’d like to make sure (if you are still a client of ours) that you were, and that since then, your services are running to your expectation levels.

Please, if you do not mind, email me directly (jason@woothosting.com) and allow me an opportunity to both investigate and resolve any pending matters, even if you’re no longer a client of ours, please feel free to reach out to me and I’ll make it worth your time.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

in your ToS you write:”CPU-intensive services on VPS and shared hosting (example: mining applications) prohibited”
now my question is, is compiling (for instance crosscompiling kernels for android/arm) allowed or prohibited as well?
    Thanks
