  2. I signed up for a VPS instance with Woothosting in their last offer, and I’ve been pleased with the service so far. I’m getting better service with these guys than service with other “companies” that I pay 3x the amount with.

Keep up the great work Jason & team!

    +1 for accepting Bitcoin.

If anyone is paying with Bitcoin, please know that it took a few minutes for their billing system to recognize my payment.

Afterwards though, my VPS was instantly activated, and I’m up and running!

@Jason, do you guys allow running proxies on these bad boys?

    May 8, 2017 @ 5:51 pm | Reply
    • Hi Edwin,

Glad to hear that you signed up and that once payment was received by our system that services were promptly delivered =)

Regarding proxies, yes! As long as the activities conducted with them do not violate laws / AUP / ToS, we certainly do not have an issue with clients who wish to run such services (many clients already do).

If there are any other questions or if I can provide any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly (jason@woothosting.com)

Thanks again for signing up, we greatly value the opportunity to work with you!

  7. Julian P:

Do you guys support Docker on OpenVZ plans?

    May 8, 2017 @ 6:39 pm | Reply
    • Hi Julian,

In short, you’ll want to obtain a KVM special (or contact me directly with your ideal requirements) if you’re seeking to run Docker.

We have (and continue) to experiment with ways to run Docker on OpenVZ based virtualization, however, the stability that we’re seeing (thus far) hasn’t been very impressive or resilient, and is not ready for production environment. We’ll continue to look into ways to accommodate this, so that at some point in the future, we hopefully have this available, but in the meantime, KVM is the best bet for such applications =)

If there’s anything else I can address or assist with, please let me know or reach out to me directly at jason@woothosting.com.

Typically, this is something beyond what we’d normally allocate to a VM (however, there are exceptions) — please allow me an opportunity to speak with you directly, at your earliest availability (jason@woothosting.com) – I’d like to clarify some details and requirements with you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Whats the difference between the regular disk space allocated with openvz compared to the secured disk space listed under your kvm offerings. Does that mean the disk is encrypted or what?

    May 8, 2017 @ 8:34 pm | Reply
    • Hi Chris,

My sincere apologies, I’ve submitted a request to have the ad updated — there is no such difference between the storage space / disk space that is offered with either the OpenVZ or KVM based packages (aside from the inherent allocation storage allocation differences between how the two technologies work — ie: how storage is carved up and partitioned off). Again, my apologies, the intent behind “secure” was to allude to the data protections / precautions afforded by us utilizing RAID-10 on these nodes; from this standpoint (since both KVM and OpenVZ nodes have hardware RAID-10 arrays), there is no difference.

Good catch – if there’s anything else I can address or help out with, please let me know – or reach out to me directly (jason@woothosting.com)

      Thanks again =)

After the first year do the prices revert to the regular price? Also, are there minimal installations of all the OSs available? Do you have any facilities to transfer information from one VPS to another?

    May 9, 2017 @ 4:41 am | Reply
    • William:

I’m a Woot Hosting customer, and I can help answer this as I had the same questions before. The prices you see here are recurring, so they won’t increase in the future.

They do have minimal templates in the VPS control panel.

      I hope this helped!

    • Hi Srivats Shankar,

William is correct! These promotional prices will extend beyond the first year — in fact, they will continue to renewal at these discounted rates for the entire duration that you maintain the service.

Regarding minimum OS installations, these are available and if there’s something you’re looking for that we presently don’t have (as an available template), just let us know and our support team can assist — also, regarding migration assistance (from one VPS to another), this is something our support team will be able to assist you with as well.

We will be adding some new locations in the upcoming months. At the present moment we are discussing details with a variety of facility providers (both in the US, and internationally). We frequently reach out to our clients (via polls and surveys in order to obtain feedback that we then utilize during our decision-making process) — we have had some interest in a midwest presence (and we do have clients who have dedicated servers with us located in midwestern facilities), feel free to shoot me an email directly and I can keep you apprised of expansion details (and I’d of course like to know if there are any specifics you had in mind that you’re particularly interested in) – jason@woothosting.com

These servers are outrageously fast, and in this day and age, the only way to make it in a saturated market like web hosting is by providing good service. It all boils down to service, which is what separates WootHosting from the others (and you can take my word for it, I’ve used over 6 different providers in 2016 alone). Hands down, Jason and his team tackle the service department aspect like no other. You won’t find anyone else who’s willing to give you the level of attention, personal service, and care that these guys would.

  26. Manjul:

I have a KVM and a OpenVZ setup (bought the KVM 2 months ago, the openVZ just a few minutes back). While the KVM took 24 hours to provision (may have been a CC issue) the openVZ was done in less than 30 seconds (then again I had the account info already setup).

In both cases I am running Ubuntu 16.04, however I am realizing the setup on either system is considerably different from how my servers are configured at home, for one I do not ever use root, we all are sudo’er users. Is there a ‘noob’ guide somewhere to self help? I am finding the way I do things at home and the way I setup my server at home doesnt translate the same on the online hosts. I need a help guide somewhere to explain the control panel and how to set things up.

Also I got the openVZ because I am moving my dev environment out of my house and onto the web. I am finding the concept of running root a bit strange… I havent been a root user in a very very long time. I guess over time i’ll adjust but the adjustment curve is quite large.

    • Hi Manjul,

Thank you for signing up – I’m excited to see that you obtained VM’s of each type! I do apologize for the delay in provisioning, as you have mentioned, it does appear that the delay was pertaining to the credit card processor (2Checkout), which sometimes causes unexpected and lengthy delays.

I do empathize with you regarding the learning curve that you’ve stated to be facing — our support department can definitely help guide you towards documentation and helpful information that should help you get up to speed in no time =)

If you are still experiencing any matters that we can address (service related, or on how to do something you’re seeking to do) — please definitely don’t hesitate to open a support ticket (any time of the day) and we’ll be happy to assist.

If there’s ever anything I can do for you, or any questions you have that I might be able to assist you with, please feel free to always send me an email (jason@woothosting.com)

    What CPUS are they offering?

    May 12, 2017 @ 4:54 pm | Reply
    • Hi Andre,

Are you looking for a VM that runs upon a node that utilizes a particular processor or chipset? (Sometimes we receive clients that have specific requirements or wish to utilize particular CPU technologies for their desired application and use case). We do have a wide assortment of processors in our environment (but mainly: E5-2620, E3-1240v5, E5620) and it is somewhat dependent upon what type of service (OpenVZ or KVM) you’re interested in, as we handpick specific processors for each technology.

I’d be very interested in knowing more about what you’re looking for – if you would, please email me at your earliest availability and provide me with some insight towards your requirements and I’d be happy to provide you with the best available options at the very best values. I can be reached at jason@woothosting.com

I greatly look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi,
I’m interested to purchase the $24/yr package but I have few questions for you. I had an unpleasant experience with my previous vendor.

    1. If I get an IP that is (or was) blacklisted, can you give me a new good one?
    2. Any money back guarantee / trial?
    3. In the event of one of our websites is being compromised, let say being used to spam, what will happen to our account?

    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

      one more question :
Can I still get a free additional month of service bonus?

      May 12, 2017 @ 5:43 pm | Reply
      • Hi Mr. H,

I’m happy to hear that you’re interested in our services — and I do hope that we get an opportunity to work with you!

Regarding IP reputation: If you do request a dedicated IP and you receive one that is initially blacklisted, yes, we will provide you with an alternate IP with a better bill of health.

Money-back guarantee / Trial: We do have a 72 hour money-back guarantee that gives you 3 days to evaluate services and see if it’s a good fit for you. During this time, I do encourage clients to communicate with our support staff if they are experiencing any sort of issue because we have solutions for almost every problem and we certainly don’t wish for anyone to silently suffer.

Regarding complaints and such (spam for instance): We do notify you when we receive complaints and then we give you time to resolve the matter. We do understand that in this line of business, things like that happen and we work with our clients accordingly to help them.

Lastly, regarding additional month promo: Absolutely, just send me an email at jason@woothosting.com after you sign up and introduce yourself :) I’ll then personally handle the service adjustment so that you take advantage of this incentive.

If there’s anything else I can assist with, please let me know — again, we look forward to working with you.

Did you guys just start providing VPSes in the last 12 months? The oldest mentioning of you providing VPS I could found was a promotion for Black Friday 2016. It looks like you were providing web hosting before that. It feels a bit risky getting a VPS from you with you having such short history of providing VPS service.

I find it funny how the initial copyright year on your website’s footer has changed over time:
    – 2005 in 2008 https://web.archive.org/web/20080828022101/http://www.woothosting.com/HOME/index.htm
    – 2004 in 2010 https://web.archive.org/web/20100214122120/http://www.woothosting.com:80/HOME/index.htm
    – 2007 now https://web.archive.org/web/20170515024525/http://woothosting.com

Given that woothosting.com domain was registered in 2006, the current 2007 looks more accurate than the other two :)

I assume this is the company? https://indianadb.com/company/763906/woot-network-llc.html

Did Ivan, founder of Woot Network/Hosting, leave? It seems like Jason has taken his role.

To me, you look credible enough to get your VPS “for fun”, so I might give you a chance, but you better not disappoint.

    • Hi Mark,

Haha, yes you’re correct in your findings — there have been a great number of changes over the years and I’ve been tasked with taking the company to new levels. Aside from changes in our internal organization, we’ve made improvements all over the place: our branding, our site, our product lineup and public offerings :) – a lot of the infrastructure and pre-existing business strengths we had allowed us to easily integrate and deploy service offerings (like VPS) publicly. And while we’re no strangers to such technologies (as we’ve been running virtualized environments for clients for almost a decade), our plan is to ensure that our public offerings are always maintained at a high level of service quality, and that they are priced in such ways that are both attractive to the marketplace, while still being sustainable for us to provide long-term and without resorting to business decisions that might negatively impact client experience.

I’m so glad to hear about your interest in our services (and your idea of fun certainly sounds a lot like mine!) – if/when you do plan to get started, I’d be glad to get you on-boarded — just shoot me an email (jason@woothosting.com) and I’ll personally assist and ensure your experience with our services meets (and hopefully exceeds) your expectations!

I’ve used a handful of hosts before trying out Woothosting, since 2003 I have configured for clients and used for personal reasons shared hosting, all the way up to the big dedicated servers. I’m pretty seasoned (at least, I would consider myself to be) at the hosting game, and these guys deserve a strong thumbs up from me.

There are no issues with downtime, everything has really been great and responsive so far. They’re consistent in responding within a couple minutes with various questions I had.

The plan I am on is the OpenVZ Promo 512MB, if any of you guys have any questions about my experience I’ll be happy to answer to you.

  37. AUP says “nested virtualization” is forbidden, but an answer aboves permits Docker in KVM. Does this imoly that other container-based virtualization technologies are also permitted in KVM? That includes OpenVZ, LXC, Mininet, etc.

    • Hi yoursunny,

In short, feel free to shoot me an email at jason@woothosting.com letting me know what package you’re interested in, and more specifically, what virtualization technology and intended use you have in mind. Basically, we want to make sure things run smoothly for clients (along with client’s end users), and we just want to prevent situations where clients are running and reselling VPS services within a VPS instance — it just never works out well for anyone. With docker, we’re not really worried about this — which is why it’s allowed, but I do really appreciate you bringing this up, because it is something that we’re flexible on if we have a better idea as to what you’re interested in doing.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I was interested in the 4GB KVM but bought a 512MB OVZ for testing network and support.

First, I had to contact them because the invoice was not marked as paid automatically and it was resolved in an hour.

Then, because disk speed is usually under 50MB/s (12MB/s sometimes), I wrote to support to take a look and they answered after 7 hours. Finally they said “Everything working fine” but actually nothing changed so I think there are limits on the disk… just in case you are accustomed to/need greater speed. It still works a bit for me for the price, but I won’t risk a full year with the KVM :P

I don’t work for WootHosting but I can give you guys an update based on my experience. I ordered last night, and am waiting on my new KVM VPS to be online, but the support has been helpful in communicating and honestly I don’t mind waiting. I’ve been told by Jesse their staff that they have been seeing high demand on their KVM line up, and are waiting for new nodes to be setup. They were waiting on the delivery guys to deliver the hardware and are now busy setting up new nodes, according to Jesse.

If anyone is waiting around, this is probably why, and you’re on the same boat as me! Hopefully this helps, give them a break as it’s the weekend and they are probably selling like hot cakes with this insane offer.

I’m going to enjoy my weekend, and check back on Monday. They said they should have KVM stuff set up by then.

I greatly appreciate the feedback – the process of ordering our services and receiving them is definitely NOT supposed to behave in such a manner (there should be no delays nor inconsistencies). That said, I’d certainly like to make sure that I review with my staff what has happened here so that we can make any necessary corrections – and also, it will provide me with an opportunity to establish a direct dialogue with you.

If you do not mind, please send me an email at your earliest availability (jason@woothosting.com) – I’d certainly like to make sure you are taken care of, and happy with the service quality you receive with us.

I look forward to hearing from you.

      – Jason

I decided to give them a try because of all the reviews here. So far I’m not disappointed! What I have realized so far is that Woothosting is not your average hosting provider. Their support is impeccable and they go the “extra mile”.

  53. After seeing Jason’s excellent pre-sales service on this page, I ordered OpenVZ-1GB-LAX on May 19 morning. Technical support is responsive (generally within 2 hours), but some problem resolution requires several rounds of tickets.

    * Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit is listed as an option on order page, but it actually becomes Ubuntu 14.04 32-bit. I suggested technical support to remove this option (416870), but it’s still on the order page.
    * Asian optimized IP: I got it after 10 hours. Good given the complexity of this request (107313).
    * PPP: not working. Technical support keeps telling me the module is enabled, but it is not working. PPP is finally repaired after my fourth reply to the ticket (929586). This is frustrating.
    * IPv6: IPv6 addresses are missing, but they are added within 30min since I open the ticket. However, they stopped working sometime later. Not resolved yet (977409).
    * TUN: not working. I just opened ticket (960859), and I’d see how many replies it takes.

I hope everything could work out-of-box, and not require tickets after tickets. This wastes everyone’s time. Otherwise, technical support should confirm the kernel module is actually working within the container, rather than simply telling the user “it is enabled” when something is still missing.

    • Update: both IPv6 and TUN issues are resolved without further complication.

      • I ordered OpenVZ because KVM is out of stock at the time. OpenVZ roughly equals “tickets after tickets” with most providers.

Running an IRC server, and no problems. The speed is good. If I want to upgrade my VPS later on, is that possible?

In other words, your offering stolen data most probably from the time Linode suffered a security breach. If any admin reads the post, could they block the user?

My VPS runs real smooth, and they have really low prices :o I’m pretty impressed with their customer support to be honest, I wasn’t expecting that for my 9 dollars and 95 cents per year.

I like that they use SolusVM which lets me manage my VPS instantly for stuff like changing my operating system or reboots.

My only caveat is that they do not offer cPanel Licenses..

Some notes on commenting on LowEndBox:

  • Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying "my VPS is down, what do I do?!" will only have your comments removed.
