WootHosting November Specials: Cloud Resource Pools, Master Reseller Hosting, OpenVZ VPS, KVM VPS (3 Locations)

Tags: , , , , Date/Time: November 1, 2017 @ 3:36 pm, by Matt Zelasko

Hi all! We’ve got WootHosting back with a great deal that I just had to post, hopefully some of you will find these useful. We’ve been posting them pretty frequently, so I won’t go too far into who they are, you can check their older posts for reviews and whatnot.

Their WHOIS is public, PayPal & Credit Cards & Bitcoin are all accepted as payment, and you can find their ToS/Legal Docs.

Here’s what Jason had to say:

“WootHosting was first established in 2007. WootHosting is overseen by our staff of life-saving technical support engineers, network engineers, and virtualization experts to provide its clients with a truly streamlined hosting experience. Initially, WootHosting was a company that provided basic web hosting packages to small businesses around the globe, in 2010, WootHosting expanded its portfolio and began offering virtual private hosting, along with dedicated servers. In the years since, we’ve become a trusted partner for providing a wide-array of elegant complex hosting solutions at equally attractive values.”

Cloud Resource Pools:

A Cloud Resource Pool allows you have total control in creating, reselling, and terminating VPS servers on-demand in every one of our locations.

1. You get a Cloud Resource Pool (complete with an allocation of bandwidth, disk space, compute resources, RAM, and IP space) — resource allocations can be upgraded at any time
2. Add your own clients via your control panel. Once this is done, you can instantly deploy their server! The control panel offers you a way to completely manage your clients VPS (from suspending, to booting, to changing the root password). This includes adding and deleting clients/VPS accounts.
3. You set your own prices. You decide what price you want to sell services at.
4. Your client gets their own account (whitelabel URL) to manage their VPS
5. Over 10 possible OS for your clients to use (Linux only)
6. Deploy in 3 locations: Los Angeles, Miami and New York (all without having to purchase three separate services — all locations included in each of our packages. This allows you to cater to a larger audience of clients as well as have a larger immediate presence)

This service is fully white-labeled, and is powered by the SolusVM control panel, meaning you can sell servers to your customers with the confidence that your clients will not know that you are reselling our Cloud Resource Pool platform.

    November 1, 2017 @ 11:55 pm | Reply
    • Hi Syd,

We evaluated several different platforms prior to launching this service — Openstack included. Our cloud resource pools platform is based on SolusVM — which provides a great host of powerful features along with a familiar feel for many — making it easy to instantly deploy/delete instances on demand via your portal.

Please feel free to check out some screenshots of our Cloud Resource Manager portal here: https://www.woothosting.com/cloud-screenshots/

    • Hi Deng,

Yes, VPN is supported — we have a great deal of clients utilizing this service for this very specific purpose. Regarding TUN/TAP modules, these are available and can be enabled within your VPS control panel =)

  7. If anyone is considering purchasing the web hosting from these guys, please read https://dah85.com/2017/11/reviewing-woothosting-web-hosting before doing so. There are things you need to be aware of. I could recommend them for casual use, but absolutely NOT for hosting your client’s websites.

    • Andy:

Reckon I can get the high storage master reseller account, set up Nextcloud on one “client” and then just use that as my cloud ‘server’?

      November 2, 2017 @ 11:56 am | Reply
      • Hi Andy,

I have actually tried this in the past with limited success. The main issue I had was that the nextCloud client wouldn’t connect to the server when it’s hosted on woothosting. If you go through the web UI for nextCloud and upload, it does work. I had a look in their ToS and couldn’t find anything that says it’s not allowed. I believe the issue with the nextCloud client not connecting is to do with the WebDAV that’s set up in cPanel, but I could be wrong. I never really looked too far into it, because it became so slow that it was unusable. Another thing to note is there is an I/O limit of 1MB/sec which means the fastest you could upload to the server is 1MB/sec.

Let me know if you manage to get it working :)

        November 2, 2017 @ 8:39 pm | Reply
      • Hi Andy!

Great question! As others have stated, utilizing the reseller hosting for this particular purpose may result in a less-than-desireable outcome, the reason for this is because of the default CloudLinux limitations that are imposed for shared hosting.

While I’d be happy to discuss this with you directly to ensure that we provide something that will meet your expectations (for example this I/O limit can be increased on a case by case basis), typically we see clients that are utilizing this type of application opting for VPS-based hosting instead – where the I/O limits are substancially higher.

I can be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com – I look forward to hearing from you!

        • Hi Jason,

Just to confirm, is using nextCloud against the ToS? Is having files stored on the server against the ToS? I have seen that ampache is available in Softaculous which allows for the streaming of MP3s, is it against the ToS to have that set up?

This is in relation to the shared hosting plans, not the VPS. I just want to clear this up for myself and on behalf of my friends who are also considering your services :)

I would like to know the official stance on this, as I have some potential clients that wish to use your services and I’d like to set to them the correct expectation.

          Cheers,
          David

          November 3, 2017 @ 9:27 am | Reply
          • Hi dah85,

nextCloud/streaming will run best on either a VPS instance or dedicated server — the resources that are required to run it effectively make it best suited for an environment other than shared/reseller hosting. So the official stance is that these are prohibited on these environments — really for the sake of neighbors. That said, we can always make case-by-case exceptions — but while I appreciate you talking to others about our services, and I do hope that you’re comfortable recommending us, I would have to say that anyone desiring to do more resource-intensive activities opt for at least a VPS. All together this should provide for a better experience for everyone. I certainly do not want to dissuade anyone from contacting us, but I also do not want to misguide anyone either. Regarding files — depends on the file and the usage. It’s not going to be the ideal environment for storing mp3’s (or anything that might be unlawful in the USA), it’s also not going to be the ideal environment for remote storage that is actively utilized — like an active backup or remote file-system. That said again, we do have clients doing all sorts of creative things, it’s just, if the use-case has a lot of overhead (resource-wise), something more robust (VPS, etc) is more ideal both to the user, and to the users on the environment — of course on a shared environment we have to look out for the benefit of those who reside upon the environment.

But in short — great questions, pleased to answer these and any others. We certainly want to find a fit that works for those interested in our services — so if there are any opportunities available to assist you or your clients/friends, just let me know =)

          • Thanks for clarifying that Jason.

            November 4, 2017 @ 1:04 am
    • Hi dah85!

I appreciate you sharing your experience with the community — and I certainly apologize for any shortcomings you experienced with our service. Unfortunately upon a shared environment the availability to resources can fluctuate a great deal — to mitigate this, we do have monitoring (both automated and human) in place to identify areas of concern and address them accordingly. While at times it is necessary for a provider to move a client to a less-utilized node, I certainly understand that this is a sensitivity for some — and I do apologize if this offered remedy was inadequate or undesired. I do want to make myself available to address any pending matters or concerns — I can always be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com. I’d like to thank you again for reviewing our services — keep up the good work!

      • Hi Jason,

Thanks for replying to me to address my concerns. I understand, obviously, that for the price paid that the service isn’t going to be amazing. What concerns me the most is you’re marketing these plans to people to resell to their customers. Imagine a scenario where I was a web dev and my clients need hosting. From your marketing spiel, these plans are perfect. Now imagine my customer’s websites not loading, issues with server maintenance, etc, and me having to explain to them why it’s like that. Should I tell them it’s just the nature of the beast? Would they be happy? Maybe if you didn’t try to sell these as a business-to-business service the expectation would be set a little more correctly. I hope you don’t think I’m being unreasonable or picking on you, it just seems like I’m having the same problem that others are having and I think it’s fair that any potential customers are aware of what’s going on. If your business model relies on people paying a small amount, realising that it’s not what the label says, and then giving up because it’s only a few dollars then I feel it’s unfair to not make that known.

        • Hi dah85,

Excellent feedback – thanks for providing it! I certainly understand your concern, and we have no intention of running our business in such a manner. Clients are provided with a money-back guarantee, and when they are beyond that period of time, refunds are still provided (or possible to get) on a case by case basis. With that being said, please reach out to me at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com at your earliest availability — I have something for you.

I purchased a LA KVM VPS from you the last promotion. I’ve to say the service is great for the price. So far no downtime and reasonable speed. *thumbs up*

However, I would want to highlight 2 things to let you and the public know.

    1. The bandwidth listed on the Pulse dashboard/SolusVM is always about triple of what I actually used. I made the test by installing a VPN server.
e.g. If I download a 100MB file using my server, it will indicate a ~300MB of bandwidth used.

    2. The offer mentioned that 1 IPv4 and /30 IPv6 addresses will be allocated for the VPS. When i entered ‘ip addr show’ in SSH, I can only see 1 global IPv4 address assigned to my server, but no global IPv6 addresses assigned at all.

Hope you can shed some light on the discrepancies above to avoid any misunderstandings.
    Thank you!

    • Hi aki!

Thank you so much for signing up with us, and I’m glad to hear that you feel our service is satisfactory — and I appreciate the feedback you’ve provided!

To address the concerns that have been brought to attention here:

      1. We utilize the SolusVM control panel which is pretty industry-standard, but what you’re mentioning in terms of inaccurate bandwidth utilization/reporting — that’s certainly concerning and atypical. We’d like to certainly look into this and have this resolved — if you do not mind, please reach out to my support team at support (at) woothosting (dot) com – and we’d love to take a look!

      2. I’d like to certainly ensure that you’re provided with the IPv6 space that has been included with the service you’ve ordered. I definitely apologize for any inconvenience caused here. Along with your ticket to item #1, please make a mention of the IPv6 spcae and we’ll get that added right away for you! (support is available 24×7)

        • Hi Jason,

Unfortunately the ship has sailed for remedy. If you were genuine about trying to resolve the issues, you’d overhaul your servers, train the staff a bit more and THEN pump out more irresistible deals. Until you do that, and if you continue to sell obviously unsustainable services, then the problem will continue to exist.

      • Jack:

Jason – Thanks for your offer to remedy this situation. However, I’ve also switched to another VPS provider.

        Here is my story….

I signed up for OpenVZ yearly plan on 8/25/17 thinking WootHosting is a good name and the offer is hard to resist. Everything was working great until 9/13/17. On 9/13 my VPS became completely unresponsive. I was unable to access it. So, I created a ticket and I got a quick response back from support with this statement:

“We have optimized our host node please have a check it.”

I did not expect a VPS provider to do some maintenance work without any advance communication. In any case I tested it again, but not much difference. Still same slowness. So, went back to support ticket and asked again to fix it. On 9/14 I got this response:

“We have optimized host node server and fixed slowness issue now.”

I do want to give credit to support who responded fairly quick.

But, two days pass by and still facing slowness issue….I gave up and shutdown my VPS (and it is still shutdown as of today). I learn my lesson….never signup for yearly plan. I still receive marketing emails from WootHosting with very attractive ‘yearly’ deals, but I either ignore or delete these emails.

I guess WootHosting is a good option for sandbox and testing purposes but it certainly is not ‘production’ ready.

I think a lot of people’s expectations are… unreasonable? Not sure what the dealio is, but if you guys have any issues, open a support ticket and work with them. They always answer my tickets in minutes. I’ve been with them since February, and no host is perfect, but for the price it’s still a great value. They had an issue with a massive DDoS on one of their shared hosting servers a couple weeks back, but they solved that. Since then, my sites load quickly, granted I only use that shared hosting for hosting my sandbox/staging websites. My VPS with them has always been stable enough to host my stuff and a couple friends

I suspect you haven’t had your service long enough to experience an issue. To be honest, I first thought that people saying negative things were either n00bs or had an agenda. Then, the problems started for me. I have opened tickets, and yes, they do reply quickly and can resolve simple matters fast. I have to be honest, they are fast to respond to things like that. But, if you start having issues with performance then they go unanswered. I hope you don’t have to experience what I’m talking about, but if you do, I think you’ll start to see what everyone is talking about.

  18. Well, its been 4 days that I’d requested for an upgrade to master reseller plan from my existing ones, and your staff member sends me an invoice of “doubled storage” after 2 days of waiting response to the ticket. And now, after having re-stated my claim again on the ticket, I don’t know how much many more days it would take now. And this is not the first time such a thing is occurring. I always keep my fingers crossed while using your services, praying that nothing happens which would require me to contact your support team, coz that’s the worse that can happen.

Jason, you never respond to your emails, all you do is stay glued here to get new customers to irk them with your support team. I know all you’d reply to me here would be asking the ticket number, so here it is #674443.

    • Hi Lucas!

I greatly appreciate your feedback – and I certainly understand where you’re coming from. While we do offer yearly deals to clients, as well as community members, a great deal of our client base and revenue comes from monthly recurring revenue and higher margin services. While our offerings here are value-oriented and discounted, these specials typically are making use of already recovered infrastructure costs and excess capacities that we’re able to then make use of and provide to the community here. We certainly do care about the post-sale experience for our clients, and while we grow and obtain new clients, we also request and respond to the feedback we’re given. Quick and accurate responses to tickets are essential to client satisfaction, and we’re making consistent and targeted improvements to ensure that the average support level received is consistently high quality and prompt.

How are the IP4 addresses assigned in Cloud Resource Pool? If I sign up for plan with 4 IP4 addresses will those be permanently assigned, or do you get new IPs each time I create a new VPS in a different location?

So if I create all 4 VPS in Buffalo, then delete and create in Miami and LA will the IP addresses show new location (when I do a lookup) of the VPS’s IP or will it still appear to be in Buffalo?

    November 3, 2017 @ 9:56 pm | Reply
    • Hi Austin,

When you deploy an instance, an IP will be assigned that is specific to that location — for example, if you deploy 4 in LA, take one down, and deploy 1 in Buffalo, the Buffalo instance will be assigned a new (Buffalo) IP. Additionally, if you were to take down another LA instance, deploy a Miami instance temporarily, and then decommission and deploy a third LA instance again, you would end up with a new LA IP. The IPs are from geographic pools, and while they are dedicated to you while you have instances deployed, once you decommission an instance, that IP will be added back to the pool and it becomes available again — therefore, if you redeploy, you may end up with that IP again (if it’s available), or an entirely different IP.

So in short — if you had 4 VPS in Buffalo, deleted them, and created in LA and Miami, the IPs (when you do a lookup) will be Miami and LA respectively (not Buffalo) =)

If there’s anything else I can address or assist with, please do not hesitate to reach out – I can be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com.

Presently, our Cloud Resource Pool specials are based upon OpenVZ based virtualization that supports a wide array of OS options/templates, but unfortunately does not support Windows. We do however have clients that are needing customized Cloud Resource Pools and have specific requirements. If you do not mind, please feel free to reach out to me and let me know what requirements or resources you’re seeking and I’d like to put together a customized solution for you — I can be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com.

  36. iPwnJ00:

New customer, would suggest against them.

My personal opinion, feedback and experience:

    1. My background – I need a cheap 2GB VPS to take over my 2GB yearly VPS that I currently have with ChicagoVPS. I don’t really use much load; I only really use it as a backup server.
    2. I registered for a yearly 2GB VPS in LA. It’s not provisioned instantly, but that’s okay because I’m not in a huge rush. I still have around 14 days on my current VPS plan so I was going to do the migration slowly anyways.
    3. After my VPS was provisioned, logging in via SSH took a long time — network traffic, I guess; but it was not the case. The responsiveness of the VPS was really slow too. I thought it was my Internet connection.
    4. Eventually I realised it wasn’t, so I opened a ticket, asking if anything’s going on, and if not, move me to a lower load server. The response to that ticket took a whopping 1 hour and 15 minutes to respond. Also, the response was: “we are aware of high load, we cleared the load, please check now”.
    5. My VPS responded a bit better, however, it still took around 2-3 seconds for me to start vim against an empty file. Responding to the ticket with “it’s a bit better, but still not acceptable”. Again, the response to my ticket took 45 minutes, and the response literally was like “we are monitoring the situation, check back later” (ie. we don’t really give a damn, just use the service).
    6. I’ve requested a full refund as per their 72 hour money-back guarantee. We’ll see if they honour it.

I have a feeling people are going to respond to this comment with something like “don’t expect fantastic service because it’s cheap” or “you get what you paid for” but this is pretty disappointing and oversold to the max. YMMV.

Node NYOVZ02 is again since hours off and woothosting-support makes no status alert (on the support page) or is willing to answer ticket (and don*t be so stupid and ask here for ticket number – bring node online – that is what need!) the fact is: whether expensive or cheap it has to work! so it is the risk of woothosting when selling cheap! Not sure what the problem is, to be honest. I have been a happy Woothosting customer for some time now, and I wanted to chime in here as I feel like these guys deserve some credit where its due. We’re all guilty of it, we love to moan when there’s an issue, but when everything is going good, we don’t take the time to appreciate.

Sure they’re not perfect, but you know what? No budget host is. Matter of fact, No host is! I’ve had more issues with my ServInt VPS which I was paying over $50/month for, than my < $15 a year VPS at Woot. Yes, they've had issues, but nothing major that would stop me from hosting my website here.

Every interaction with them, they've demonstrated great attention to detail and care. I think you guys just need to learn to communicate with them, and be a little patient, instead of using LEB as a helpdesk.

I’m also really happy with WootHosting. Jason and his team have always been obliging.

I will mention that they had a pretty bad DDoS attack towards one of their servers (Which I happened to be on) not too long ago which caused a high website load, but they mitigated that issue weeks back. Since then, everything has been loading much faster! Other than this issue, I haven’t had any problems with WootHosting’s services. And I’m not going to ding them on it, because DDoS can and will happen to anyone, it’s how the host handles the situation that sets them apart between “average” and “outstanding”.

Keep up the outstanding work, Jason ;-)

    • Hello,

One of our shared hosting servers was under an increasingly sophisicated DDoS attack, to give you an idea – this attack is on the higher end of the scale – so high that it would take most hosts out of business if they were faced with an attack of this scale, should they not have appropriate DDoS protection. The good news is WootHosting has the resources and capability to combat this attack.

While our servers have always had on-demand DDoS protection enabled, we had to shift this particular server to a stronger level of protection, to a protection level that is Always On. This attack is an anomaly – and frankly speaking from experience, I’ve personally never seen such a persistant attacker in my 6+ years working in the web hosting industry.

This issue can now be considered resolved, as we were able to shift the protection levels on this server in order to better combat this complex attack.

Please let us know if we can assist you with anything else.

If there are ever any issues with service availability, I certainly want to be looped in — as there should not be any service interruptions and if there are, I want to make sure these are resolved internally, and to your satisfaction.

Please do let me know if there’s anything presently going on, otherwise, if things are functioning normal, please always either cc me or mention my name in tickets that you open with staff so that such matters are brought to my awareness and I can dig deeper into root cause and provide adequate remedies.

Your business is extremely valued and I want to make sure you’re satisfied.

One word – just stay AWAY!

I have different services with them:
    1. Shared hosting is clearly unusable
    2. The VPS is clearly unstable (permanent downtimes)
    3. Reseller hosting with permanent downtimes like today

For example, I paid $21/year for VPS, the worst hosting I ever used. Still ask for refund…

    • Hi Max,

I do apologize for any trouble that has been encountered and if allowed, I’d like an opportunity to see if I can resolve the issues that are being experienced — I see that you have a wide array of our services.

If allowed the opportunity, I will surely make it worth your time. If this sounds fair, please send me an email at your earliest convenience – I can be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com. I will personally review, address, and communicate with you until we get any items of interest resolved.

then its the same as mine.
i can’t say about other services they have, because i had never used before.
but their VPS should be fine. perhaps you had been provisioned to a bad server.
u can contact them to try moving to your VPS to another location (maybe Miami or another LA server) and see how it goes.

i’ve been constantly monitoring the uptime and it has been good.

I am unfortunately also one of those people who decided to purchase a few services from WootHosting. I bought 2 of the End of Summer VPS Special – 2GB and then bought the Pro Plan – Up To 6 VPS shortly after.

The 2 Summer VPS’s are based out of LA and have been simply plagued with problems since week 2. I can also relate to the people stating that they have had “multiple hour downtime” and currently i have NEVER reached more than 80% uptime. The Pro Plan hasn’t been used at all yet, as i am too scared to create a host and let it loose on a client because I will have to deal with all the cr*p that comes with the downtime.

Maybe I am unlucky, but i always seem to get the same Customer Service person responding (normally after a couple of hours delay), and the FIRST reply is “i can ping it, please check again”. Just to clarify, it DOES respond to pings sometimes, just NOT to the actual web request or SSH, or IMAP, or their own control panel…..

The excuses so far have been varied:
Raid array broke, so need 48 hours to fix it,
Abusive user causing load on the node, so now that he’s suspended its all good,
we are aware of problems, and are monitoring,
I can log in / ping it, so its fixed: please open another ticket if you have problems again etc…

I have tried to contact Jason directly a couple of times, mainly because i feel as a customer who has experience of setting up a VPS, i don’t like being treated like an idiot from the customer service. I have no idea of the percentages of people who open tickets about “problems” when there are none, but when a customer opens tickets on a DAILY basis die to downtime, IMHO it should get escalated.

I really hope they get their act together QUICKLY, as i don’t want to have to cancel the service, and am still willing to give them the benefit of doubt, but honestly… my patience is wearing so thin with them, right now i would happily pay 3 times the price for a system that stays up more than 95% of the time…

    • Hi Piero,

Thank you for taking the time here to provide such a detailed account of your experience with our services so far. I can see a number of issues here that are personally concerning to me, and I will be addressing each one specifically and exhaustively so that moving forward, no such experience is either expected or received to any of our clients. I want to thank you for being a client of ours and it does sound like, and I do hope it is still the case, that you would be willing to allow me an opportunity to address these issues — which I would like to do — as well as speak with you directly to address any other concerns. I understand that patience wears thin, and I never want our company to be the cause of that.

I will be reaching out to you directly to discuss this matter — I do appreciate your time and I’d like to get to the bottom of this and any other concerns.

      I thank you again,

    • Hi cifacimuyi —

I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience with our services and I am very concerned with the problems that you are mentioning because they are atypical and certainly something that I want to personally address and oversee the resolution of. The load that you should be encountering should be consistently lower and so I’d like to look into this. If provided the opportunity, I will certainly be respectful of your time and find a way to hopefully turn your experience with our services around towards one of which you are happy with.

If this sounds fair to you, please feel free to contact me directly, I can be reached at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com. Again, I apologize for the issues being reported and I do hope that you’ll provide me with an opportunity to speak with you.

Well, I am using WootHosting reseller hosting from 3 months, I haven’t had any problems and my clients have been happy. Everytime I needed an account migrated, there support always got it done within few hours or less.

Avoid this host like the plague, especially their OpenVZ offerings. They do absolutely no monitoring for abuse and I’m constantly having to deal with their awful support to have them “suspend” the noisy neighbors who are bringing my container to a crawl.

    79+0 records in
    78+0 records out
    1277952 bytes (1.3 MB, 1.2 MiB) copied, 17.8352 s, 71.7 kB/s

    Can’t beat that performance.

Don’t even bother emailing Jason. He likes to put on a front on these forums that he cares and will work to resolve the major issues plaguing his company’s offerings, but when you email him you’ll get the same non-solution solutions that you get from their normal support. If Jason thinks a “looks like your ticket is closed so everything must be okay!” response is appropriate for someone complaining on public forums about chronic service issues then he obviously is missing the point of why people complain on here.

        November 19, 2017 @ 1:55 pm | Reply
        • Steve:

And now he decided to close my internal ticket with him where I laid out my issues in detail for him to fully understand the problem and be able to respond to it. But he chose to close the ticket hoping I’d let it go away. I’ll post my request here, maybe he will not run from answering it on a public forum:

“If you look at my ticket history, you’ll see a pattern. I report an issue with the VPS, support says the issue should be fixed, the issue is not fixed or reoccurs, support then says they “took action” or “suspended” an “abuser” on the host node and the issue goes away.

This leads to the conclusion that there is no monitoring of the host nodes for abuse or performance degradation. There is no proactive response to issues because you don’t know they are occurring until your customers complain. I should not have to lodge a ticket every time someone is “abusing” the host node to alert you of that fact so my service can return to the expected performance levels. As the host, the one managing the host node and overseeing all containers on it, it is your responsibility to ensure that nobody is abusing the service and to ensure that the service is to the level that you advertise and promise to your customers. OpenVZ is a shared pool of resources, I understand that, but I have had many OpenVZ instances where these chronic performance issues did not occur. This leads me to believe that you are either massively overselling the host nodes, or literally doing nothing to detect and counteract abuse of the resources of the server.

I’ve already been migrated from one host node to another and the issues still occur. So this shows me that the issue is not isolated to a single host node, and is in fact a chronic issue plaguing your entire company, the way you manage/allocate resources on your servers, the way you monitor them for issues, and the way you handle support requests relating to degraded performance.

My additional “question” on that ticket, which your support, and now you, have failed to answer four times, was what will be changed relating to this issue in the future? What will be done so the next time an “abuser” slows the disk on the host node to a crawl you will notice it yourself and it won’t require me to open a ticket and struggle with your support staff to get performance back to normal? It’s about consumer confidence, and so far, your company has done nothing to show me that I should have any confidence that you are able to maintain acceptable service levels.”

Don’t even think about signing up with this company, they may look cheap but you get what you pay for.

Picked up the 2GB VPS for $18/yr. Nothing but problems from the moment I logged in. Had to open a ticket just to get SSH working. Performance is terrible, so I opened at ticket to see if what I was seeing was normal. I was told my VPS is working fine.

Not to mention they love to spam your mailbox with offers after signing up.

when u say terrible, how terrible is it? are u accessing from halfway across the globe from US? what are the figures?
my average pings are like 300-600ms even though they stated 1Gbps network, but i know that it is a low end VPS. so, if u are paying pennies for a budget service, don’t expect premium speeds or VIP service.

and which business doesn’t spam newsletters after you sign up? of course they want more customers! the moment i got my first newsletter, i unsubscribed immediately, and hadn’t received any since. just clicking another button to unsubscribe won’t cost your life, right?

    Hi Everyone,

I have been using a Woot Hosting openvz VPS since February 6, 2017 here. That’s not exactly a whole lot of time, but enough time for me to be able to say that Woot Hosting are pretty ok for what they do. They provide exactly what they promise and their support is damn fast on the responses. I was originally set up in LA, and they were happy to migrate me to their new Miami location once they opened that location, so that was nice of them.

They aren’t perfect. No web-host is perfect. I mean, I had one or two outages, granted one of them was my fault as I apparently accidentally overwrote a network configuration file (You know, those late nights when you’re out of energy drinks.. yeah, take it from me don’t work in a SSH terminal that late LOL). Put it this way, if Woot Hosting were as bad as people for some reason are trying to make them out to be, they wouldn’t still be in business today and expanding locations.

    Just my brutally honest 2c!
