Only order if you want to do some testing or for your hobbies.

Their servers are down a lot. Sometimes up to 300+ minutes per day. Roughly 5 hrs+

I had the same problem with them when I tested one of their VPS plans. Bandwidth tests showed the servers are run very congested with little available bandwidth and the servers went down enough that I just left it to run it’s billing out and never extended. Too many offers here anymore where people just buy a reseller account but don’t have the knowledge or expertise to deal with simple issues and keep servers up.

Servers like this are good for playing around. Nothing more.

They must be adding all their new customers from this deal to my node. This past week, I’ve had several out of memory problems. Now it takes forever just to type in a simple command. Currently, it is as useful as a brick.

I think the service is so awful that no free month would make up for this. It would be a free month of a website that can’t be accessible from anywhere and if it is then it would be utterly slow.

The network is really slow. This is what I have got on a 1gbit network connection option (extra pay). They will keep telling you that sometimes the network has a slowdown but its been 6 days and its the same or worse every time I test. If all you want is 100mbps I guess its fine but for 1gbit its awful.

1Gbit/s ports tend to be shared on demand between users on the same node, please note speed test websites are never true reflections of the bandwidth due to:
      – Geographic location
      – Testing server load
      – Firewall

Also, please do note the difference between Mbit/s and MB/s.

Nevertheless, send me your ticket number and I will refund you the cost of the add-on whilst leaving it enabled on your account.

I am happy enough with the 2GB SSD KVM VPS.
I use it for a low volume email server. It is faster and cheaper than the chicagovps I had.
It runs at about 5% CPU.
    SSD I/O Read Speed avg 0.00246 Mb/s.

It took a couple of attempts to get a clean IP. The support was sufficiently responsive.
As it was when I requested rDNS.

As others have mentioned the SSH terminal isn’t exactly smooth but its better than the 300 baud bulletin board days. Enabling compression on the link helped.

The KVM container is working nicely. I manually upgraded to linux kernel v4.20.7 without a hiccup.
OpenSSL is also the latest and greatest version. That also went without a hitch as did all the other software upgrades outside of the standard production versions for the OS.

There’s enough resources left over in the VPS that I may even get docker going :)
just to see how accurate some of the resourcing comments above really are ;)

  25. I have been with them on a reseller account for about 9 months; set to renew in May. I’m not very active but I try to log in every 3 months or so and see how my sites are doing.

    1. Main site doesn’t load anymore WHMCS backed and fully updated; but at least the cPanel does (which is a win).
    2. On my regular website for construction company my registrar (namesilo) banned my domain and sent a nasty email about how I am a spammer. I could never get that domain back and the site is still down :(
    3. Today I logged in and found that WHM doesn’t load anymore, so I can’t go check anything.

I don’t know if there was a spammer on my server and my site got banned; or if my site was actually hacked (support couldn’t tell me) or if they need to vet their customers more because hackers are getting into their servers and messing up good customer’s domains. But my domain is gone and now I’m on LowEndBox looking for a replacement. It’s really sad because the service started off well but I think they just don’t charge enough to afford people to keep up the good work.

Yeah I have the same question why LEB allow this poorly service and we can say scammy offers to be around and many complains and offer every month and people don’t check their old offers and comments about it, it’s so sad the LEB before was a place with good company/offers now we have this offers trying only to still people money because I can’t call with other names due it’s easy to join but you don’t have your moneyback easily without complain with your credit card company. So beware and do your own research before jump in early plans. Be safe. Peace !

I can’t recommend this provider. Support is poor. I have a cheap hosting account and it goes down often. I have a monitoring solution set up to tell me when it goes down. I’ve confirmed that it was indeed down after getting alerts. Support replies with “try it now”, not addressing the underlying problem. Another reply I got is “it’s working now” which doesn’t fix the problem.

  30. Kevin:

I have tested and used many many service providers both inexpensive and expensive. I cant recommend Alpharacks for many reasons.

    1. Reliability
I’ve had the Server go down and completely lose very critical data within a week of ordering and didn’t get any compensation nor any proper support in getting my data back, only thing the team knows how to do is reset the server for you. Then, within a month of using the service I’ve had the server fail AGAIN with loss of all data again. Two failures within a month I would say is completely useless for any mission critical people.

    2. Service Quality
Service is completely useless and slow. On the two failures I had, I literally wasted at least 3-4 days until getting a support staff to reset the server, something that should only take at most 5 minutes. They ask the same questions over and over again, and the support staff does not seem to be fluent in english.

    3. Server Speeds/Quality
I dont think I have to speak much about this topic at all. Service is oversold and slower than many other hosts with lower price and lower specs. Go with HostUS if you need LA hosted CN2 backed servers. Down times are also very common.

At the time of writing this post, I have contacted Josh, and hope to get a reply ASAP on the situation.

Jeez the setup is slow. Ordered, paid invoice, still haven’t had my server set up for over 6 hours. I don’t know how good they are yet, but I have to say that their support is pretty terrible if they can’t even setup a simple server in 6 hours. I will update this if things change for the better.

Slow setups are usually due to demand. We actively try and provision services ASAP, but cannot always promise this.

Any delays will be added to your services due date.

    Hi,

After about two years of working with them, I began to trust them.
Even though my VPSs are shut down most of the time, they keep telling me that there are too many node connections.

Today, I booted up my VPS and began updating the VPS linux packages, then they suspended it!
My VPSs are controlled by Webmin system with CSF firewall, and they are the best for system management.

New Employee called Ted Orr is responding to me on the chat today, and he is requesting to wipe all data.
Wait the minute, my customers files are on the server!

Now, I am very upset as I don’t have a newer backup of my files.
    They are not responding anymore.
Alpharacks never care if you are loyal or not.

    Never ever deal with them

In response to all three comments, this is far from acceptable. I am proud of AlphaRacks’ offering to customers and feel this has let you down esspecially after two years of service with us. Can you please drop an email or your ticket # here so we can investigate further?

I was about to ask if they still oversell their nodes and from the last posts it seems to be so… i use to use them and when i contacted the support asking what is going on they would just keep turning off services on my vps… Just stay away from them

We do not oversell nodes and hope for the best performance of our services, if not, our 24/7 support team are always there!

Potentially, your service could being suspended by Nodewatch? If you could please email josh@alpharacks.com for me.

I’ve been having trouble with them since I ordered. Took them a few days to take the kvm off of pending after they took my money, and they insisted that they sent me a email with the info. They claimed that it was all setup now and sent me a email with the info, nothing works in the vps control panel at all. I also asked for a refund within the 3 day period of their ToS, and blatantly got ignored. I will probably end up going with Linode, or something similar now. Just wanted to warn others that their service isn’t very good like many others are saying here, or in some cases they will never give it to you and take your money anyways, just be careful.

One of the worst hosters I’ve ever had to endure, slow performance, bad service.

When you’re finally rid of them they will keep spamming you a few times a week with more of their crap.

    Hey Julian or Josh,

Y’all’s support team could work on its customer service skills. I inquired about a refund because I wasn’t finding use in the service anymore and was going to move to another host, and your boy “Daniel Jones” simply said “This is not refundable.” Nothing else.

The start of the new service year isn’t even until 3/26/2019. Can you please help?

Part of my problem is the scant selection of operating systems. They are all specialized builds, and I cannot provide my own (such as a near-base install of CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.)

I strongly recommend that you don’t waste your time with AlphaRacks.

Before purchasing from them, I read through the comments on several posts here at LEB on AlphaRacks as well as reviews found through google, “alpharacks reviews”, and the vast majority of complains involved terrible customer support.
I kept that in mind, decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and made a purchased anyway. Worst comes to worst, I can always dispute with my card issuer. I have some time to kill and not a whole lot to lose from trying.

    So, here’s my experience:

I purchased the $99/yr KVM with 8 CPU / 6RAM. Few mins later, I received the email that contained the ssh credentials. Waited a couple more minutes for the VPS to finish setting up. Other VPS’s I’ve used (KayHosting) were online in seconds.

I tried to ssh into the VPS. Operation timed out. VPS wasn’t online.
AlphaRacks client area shows VPS as offline.
Logged into Virtualizer, shows VPS as offline.

I reinstalled the OS through Virtualizer, thinking that was the problem. Nope.
I tried the starting/stopping/restarting buttons in the client area and Virtualizer. Nope.
I waited for a few hours. Nope.

    I opened a support ticket, #251028.
Responses have been less than helpful. They said they would move my server to another node. That was over 48hrs ago. They haven’t.
It’s been a couple of days since I placed my order and I have been unable to use the services I paid for nor have I been adequately updated in a timely manner on any progress made to rectify the situation.
This is completely unacceptable for “24×7 Support”.

Even their replies to comments at LEB are up to several days late. It’s ridiculous.
Customers should NOT have to go to an external site like LEB to get support for their technical issues. It just goes to show that AlphaRacks is biting off more than they can chew. They clearly don’t have the necessary resources to ensure that customers get the support they need within a reasonable timeframe.

    TL;DR:
Comments about AlphaRack’s terrible support are true. Most VPS providers are able to set up your server within, at most, minutes after payment. AlphaRacks takes literally days. Don’t waste your time with this company while they scramble to get their shit together.

Josh, I have three vps on AlphaRacks (1gb, 2gb and 3gb OpenVZ) and they seem to be heavily cpu limited and when they eventually crash they do not restart automatically.

I understand that I paid extremely low prices for these, but please make it so I don’t have to go into the vps control panel every time it goes down to boot it again…

I am okay with having downtime since I paid so little, but I’m not okay into having to reboot manually every week.

    Thanks

After Acquiring WootHosting & Others, AlphaRacks’ SERVICE-QUALITY DEGRADED even further, instead of higher quality service ! despite having more hardware resources AlphaRacks increased VPS price !

Our VPS was purchased thru WootHosting (2019, and 2017 to 2019),
but after AlphaRacks acquired WootHosting, etc, AlphaRacks suddenly ATTACKED our VPS and changed our VPS node into some new node, changed our IPv4 & gave us a BLACKLISTED IP ADDRESS, disconnected our 30 IPv6, which has orphaned around 10 of our domains !!!

Even after few weeks, AlphaRacks could not set rDNS for 1xIPv4 in their VPS !!! and could not allot 30xIPv6 !!!
SUPPORT DEPT is hiding, ALMOST no response or useless repeatative response in SUPPORT tickets !!! Ticket-ID # 879019

We have even requested AlphaRacks-SALES-DEPT to CANCEL the current useless VPS and use the Credit money for getting this/similar new KVM VPS by sending us a Paypal invoice after deducting the other VPS’s price.
But ALPHARACKS SALES DEPT is hiding, NO response even after 4 days (today is 4th day, when i posted this message). Ticket-ID # 589437

At this point we see no course but recover money thru PayPal investigation process.

    Very bad experience with AlphaRacks.

in 2015 to 2017 when i was their customer, service was relatively slightly better then. But i had no choice but move to WootHosting in 2017, as they deny to transfer some data/settings into a new VPS.

I had no-choice but use the Cancel-service button for the (Woothosting)-VPS from AlphaRacks, then finally one of the AlphaRacks-SALE staff has finally taken-it seriously & responded back, & given only store-credit (which is not a full-refund back into Paypal).

Anyway, I have asked to use the store-credit for another VPS & i’ve shown them similar VPS specs/details offer (with price) from other VPS providers, and finally after discussion+conversation, the staff & I was able to reach an agreement to get another better-specs VPS.

New VPS, again unfortunately has BLACKLISTED-IP, but AlphaRacks staff are now working to fix it.

If IP-address is NOT Whitelisted & if IP-adrs does not have correct RDNS set, then sent-out emails are either rejected or placed into SPAM/TRASH folder, Sent-emails do not go into INBOX.

My last experience with Alpharacks has left a bad taste in my mouth. I just bought an Easter special VPS. The initial setup details worked for about 12 hours, then suddenly I couldnt connect to the control panel, nor log in with my credentials. OK not the end of the world, these things happen. But the tech guys werent listening and were just saying “but I can ping it fine!”.

Eventually they reissued new control panel credentials, which were in fact the login credentials for some other guy’s account, and I had full access to the management console for all of his 22 VPS instances. One of his VPS’s had the same IP address as mine…?

So I got them to rebuild a new instance and start again. I started uploading files etc. but the VPS was super laggy and a benchmark I ran gave HDD sequential write speed of 6 – 11 MiB/s…

This is really disappointing as I have a number of services with Alpharacks and given what took place this time I am reluctant to use their services again.

I had a VPS from Alpharacks around 2 years ago and it was barely usable, it was either extemely slow or down completely.
I moved to Woothosting and enjoyed no slow downs and very rare down times. I then find that Alpharacks has purchased Woothosting and within a couple of weeks I am finding the VPS has been slow for the past few days and today is down completely.
It is now approaching 2 hours since I opened a high priority ticket for the server being down with no response. So that tells you something about the level of support you will be getting if you do have issues.

After recent acquisitions, i become Alpha Racks customer, my servers are down for nearly 6 days now, They started the migration process without any prior notification From France to LA, after data transfer activity they are not able to spin up my VPS and stating that my server OS is crashed.
Long story short after a lot of followups with support they agreed to provide backup and the worst part is that they provided only folder structure of my servers. few folders contain some data otherwise all empty.
As per my understanding, they didn’t transfer my complete data from old server and vps getting failed to start on new server. My 2 Servers contains around 50 cpanel account really pissed with their support.

Never ever suggest this host to anyone, pathetic support even they are not technically sound.
