Hey everyone, Nathan over @ NFP Hosting has some awesome deals to share with us today and are happy to advertise their latest expansion to New York! They were founded back in 2006, their WHOIS is public, and you can find their ToS/Legal Docs here. They accept PayPal, Credit Cards, Alipay and Bitcoin.

More about the company:

“NFPHosting.com was founded in 2006 as an e-commerce hosting provider after seeing the lack of hosts who can deliver quality. At NFP Hosting, there is no waiting around. Services are instantly provisioned, and 24/7 customer support comes standard with our plans. No compromises. No excuses. It’s really as simple as that.
We are the provider for the people. Our motto is: Premium Solutions. Friendly People. Service Delivered. This means always going above and beyond, and going the extra mile. Hence why customers love NFP Hosting. Real results, real performance!

hi, thanks for the offer i have some questions:

    – are those prices recurring?
    – what data center is for the shared hosting plans?
    – do you provide jail shell on Shared Hosting Special ?
    – why not feature on lowendtalk?

    thanks and regards

    • Hey Ehab,

Thanks for your interest with NFP Hosting. You’re more than welcome to cross-post to this post or share the word about these offers on other websites/communities, I do not mind and would certainly appreciate the gesture. The prices are on a recurring basis (we do not increase prices here) :) Yes, jailed shell access is available for $1.50 and can be added on your order during the checkout process, or by opening a sales ticket if you wish to add it later on. Thanks again for taking a look at our offers and if you have any other questions feel free to let me know. Have a great weekend.

    Hello,

I am considering a reseller hosting account with you, this is quite a captivating offer! I am currently hosting my reseller with HG, I’ve been with them since 2011 and can’t seem to go more than three months on their servers without some issue. Been wanting to move but admittedly have been putting it off, figure I may as well get it done and over with.

Question about the free migration, my HG reseller has 9 “subaccounts” underneath it, would the migration cover all the accounts for my clients too?

    Thank you,
    Travis Prichard

Thank you for considering NFP Hosting. We would be happy to assist with performing the migration for you, including your sub-accounts.

    • Hey Adam,

As we noticed a lot of people are happy with the performance that a RAID10 with enterprise drives setup provides these particular offers are not as I’m sure a lot of you would enjoy a larger disk storage allocation thus providing more value and usability for the VPS. If you’re looking for otherwise you can always ticket in at https://portal.nfphosting.com/submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=1 and we would be happy to put something together for ya!

NFPHosting is one of those providers where you get everything setup the way you want, and 6 months later you totally forget about it. What I mean is that their server has worked so well for me, and since I already paid up for the year, I totally forget to praise them or stay in touch with them. So this post served as a reminder today and I’d like to take this time to show some appreciation which is often oversought in today’s society. Thank you Nathan and your guys for your service. It’s a good thing when I’m not thinking about my hosting company everyday, that means I do not have to contact support and things are going flawless.

I’m glad some of you are happy with NFPHosting, because I’ve never had worst provider.
Bought a simple vps last BlackFriday and never succeed to make it work more than a few days, each time I had to show a copy of their own invoice to get my vps in LA, with IPv6, and a double core. And every time 2/3 days later my vps was unreachable via ssh or via panel. And I am not going to talk about their support, I’d love to stay polite.
Please, run away or at least be aware!

    • Zach:

Sorry to hear, sounds like a unique situation – every provider seems to have them. Likewise I got one of their black Friday specials and have had no problems with service or support. I’ve since added some additional servers under them and no issues as well. If you had an experience like this maybe Nathan can help you out but yeah, sounds unusual, maybe they were short staffed on Black Friday?

      March 16, 2018 @ 10:13 pm | Reply
    • Hey Ben,

Thanks for sharing this. I’m glad you had the opportunity to take advantage of our Black Friday deal we ran last year. As you know we were featured on LowEndBox with our Black Friday special which was highly popular, so we experienced a lot of traffic, orders, and as a result of that – much higher than usual support ticket load. So thank you for bearing with us during that busy time and I apologize again for any delays during that season.

If you could please email me at nathan@nfphosting.com with your account details, I would be happy to review things and find a way to make it right.

    https://intodns.com/woothosting.com
    https://intodns.com/nfphosting.com

*alpha racks and woothosting ip is same however they seem to have got dedicated ip for the npfhosting to hide the fact they own it too…

And all domain names are ordered from a person from CA :

    https://who.is/whois/alpharacks.com
    https://who.is/whois/woothosting.com
    https://who.is/whois/nfphosting.com

*Same as with the server the alpha and woot domain are both owned from some chinese guy names and from CA while in npf they used a american name but again from CA…
And of course like every offer of woot, alpha they spam the thread with fake reviews so we can take a good eye on them while after max 2 days the real customers will comment here with their real reviews…

Not sure about how any other organizations are affiliated, but seeing as how you grouped nfp with others, the criteria you’re using might be a little over-reaching (thus making conjectures and assumptions that are incorrect and perhaps damaging?). I took a look at the IP similarity you mentioned and it looks like you’re pointing out a LW nameserver which again, is using a broad generalization.

NFPhosting has a serious problem, the people from support desk can not understand the customer write in the ticket, I have five vps and all of it it’s ip has been blocked by the GFW, so if I pay 15 dollars to five new ip is wasting money and they can’t make sure all the new ip is unblocked. So, I said I want to combine the five vps into one vps and I give up other four vps so I only need to switch one ip. Do you understand what I am saying? I said to combine 5 vps’s RAM and traffic into one vps and I pay for only one ip for 3 dollars , if you understand, open a 3 dollars invoice for account zhujq971210@gmail.com I will pay it and you combine the five vps

    • Hey Andy,

Please keep in mind that we run our shared/reseller hosting servers on Dual Xeon processors (and therefore there are two physical processors in each server) so there is at minimum 16 cores on all of our shared/reseller hosting servers.

I checked all of our shared/reseller hosting servers and did not notice any issues in performance. We also optimize them CloudLinux and LiteSpeed Web Server. Feel free to shoot over a ticket to our support department if you have any issues or if you need any help :)

    Activation: 10/10
I paid by Paypal, server was immediately activated after I ordered.

Support: 10/10 (though too soon to tell)
I interacted with support a few times and received responses within an hour to all of them. Not bad for an unmanaged provider. Take this for a grain of salt for now, as it’s too soon to tell.

So that’s a 2.6.32 kernel, with no likelihood of an upgrade to a newer kernel?

I ask because the GLibc used by Debian Buster (and Sid) needs a 3.2 (or newer) kernel. I expect Ubuntu 18.04’s GLibc will also need a 3.2 or newer kernel.

        March 21, 2018 @ 9:01 pm | Reply
        • Anton:

That’s the way OpenVZ functions. OpenVZ is containing and shares the kernel with the host, in order to minimize overhead.

I have checked with uname and can confirm Nathan’s statement, they are running latest vz kernels for RHEL6. You can compare it yourself at https://openvz.org/Download/kernel/rhel6/Archives

I don’t know of any provider I use that runs vz on RHEL7, because of how unstable it is.

I have LA VPS (10/month – BLACK FRIDAY deal) with them since 4 March. Here is my VPS uptime monitored by uptimerobot https://postimg.org/image/na58f26y3/. I bought their VPS because I saw Nathan Ramirez always answer comments here so I was thinking my support ticket will be answered less than 12 hours. Sadly I never talked to him on their support desk and overall my support tickets got answered a day later (24 hours or more). I have nothing to complain about the VPS, the only thing that makes me not to use my VPS is their support. It’s not good to make your customer wait for 24 hours (sometimes more) to answer a single simple question.

    • Do you have a ticket number so I can review this? Our average response times to tickets is under an hour (unless it’s a sales or billing related question that can take a little longer), the only exception to this was during the Black Friday holiday when we were overwhelmed with orders and requests.

I checked all our nodes, and specifically our LA ones as you mentioned you have a LA VPS, and none are experiencing such frequent downtimes. Do you have any firewall set up on your server (or any sort of iptables based rulesets) that could be rate limiting your monitoring system, or triggering false positives?

I haven’t touched anything, especially firewall things after I decided to monitor it. I have created a ticket #585309 about migrating or moving my VPS to another node.

I signed up for NFP on their Cyber Monday deal. They are decent folks, who work hard to provide an honest and good service. I’m using my server for various purposes including VPN and hosting small projects. The server has always been available and performs great. I would absolutely recommend them.

This sounds like your VPS was suspended by Nodewatch for abuse (either for spamming or sending outbound DoS). Assumptions aside, please shoot over a ticket to support and we will identify the exact reason and get you back up and running. None of our nodes are experiencing any downtime.

So far, we counted the VPS went into “suspended” mode for 5 times or more. When we asked in the ticket for a root cause, no reply. If you really care about the customers, please explain. Thank you.

Otherwise, I would not recommend anyone to use nfphosting. We are seriously considering a refund request.

I don’t see what they did wrong, to be honest. Try being more patient. Sales and billing is usually not a 24×7 staffed department in any company. The tech guy did the right thing, by escalating it instead of trying to handle something that isn’t his department. How’s that gotta do with network availability and all that you’re talking about?

And no, I’m not a NFP customer yet, so I can’t comment on their service. I just felt obliged to chime in, working for an ISP helpdesk myself…

    • Hey,

Please take in consideration that we run Dual Intel Xeon Server processors on our shared/reseller hosting servers. There are two physical CPUs for a total of at least 16 cores per server, some even running upon 24 or 32 core systems.

The only time we would refund and close an account without you requesting it is if the account was absolutely concluded as a fraudulent transaction (and this is based on factual data from hosting provider’s reports on FraudRecord, MaxMind, and also based on other forms of research). We aren’t going to take a hit on a $25 chargeback fee for a $1 transaction.

Please email me at nathan@nfphosting.com with your account details if you are looking for more details.

You can set up your own nameservers, register child nameservers for your domain (i.e. dns1 and dns2, or ns1/ns2) to point to your VPS IP address.

Overall quite nice website, easy to setup VPS, 9 USD per year for a 1 GB VPS is acceptable. Only downside is the somewhat outdated OVZ Linux kernel (2.6), which can’t be upgraded.

    • Hey Dmitry,

That is my fault! We sold more VPS than we had planned for in the past couple weeks, and ran out of space in New York for a couple days while we were getting new nodes up and running.

Anyways, new nodes have been set up in New York and all pending orders have been activated so you should be all set. Also, now in the order form, it will display the setup time (based on real time inventory by location) so that there are no misunderstandings on how soon you’ll receive your VPS moving forward!

I ordered the 1GB box with extra storage for Nextcloud, CalDav, Calibre, VPN. But they’re running openVZ with a 2.6.32 kernel and no option to upgrade. So that means Docker won’t run, since 3.1 is the minimum kernel. That’s such a basic functionality that doesn’t work. Pass on this one.

    April 30, 2018 @ 11:56 am | Reply
    • Hey Jawsua,

We are running the latest RHEL6 based OpenVZ kernels :)

Due to the way OpenVZ VPS’s works, containers share the same kernel as the host node.

Stay tuned for our new KVM offers we’ll be releasing soon, which will allow you to run your own kernel!

I sadly have to say that they played me a bad trick. They sent me an offer about a VPS with 3gb. I tried to check if there was a Windows version but didn’t find on their website. I replied to the email and asked if they could manage to give me that offer with Windows and they told me “give us a Windows downloadable link and we will mount it for you, just choose a different OS and buy the offer now”. I did what they said, bought a Windows license and sent it to them with the downloadable link. At this point they simply refused to mount it, saying that the offer was for an OpenVZ and not for a KVM server. Of course that wasn’t written in the email, nor the customer care alerted me about that. Now I have a Windows Server license which I don’t use because of their incompetence.
Can’t warn you enough to stay away from these guys.

Moreover I can’t visit the cpanel login page normally after opening the ticket. Surprisingly I can visit that with my vpn on! Are they banning ips now?

    Hi,

I have ordered a shared hosting plan from NFP Hosting. To be honest, I have no idea how they can be a hosting provider for over 12 years. tldr version, just do not buy from them.

Let me start it off with this, I may have bought a budget cheap hosting plan of $1 however I am treated worse than a user of a free hosting plan. I opened a ticket, #369612, on November 27 as my payment for the plan has went through and I was given the hosting details, but was unable to log in to cPanel. Ticket was responded in 7 hours.

I purchased the plan on November 28 and was hosted on server with codename ‘citrus’. Fiddling around, I noticed that the loading time for pages and cPanel are way too long. At a mark of over 1 minute, pages are still loading. I was using ByetHost free hosting before this and I must say for a free hosting provider, their servers load fast, within seconds. As for NFP Hosting, using cPanel and phpMyAdmin is a pain, with over a minute wait in between pages and navigation. Feeling frustrated but still keeping my cool, I replied to the previously opened ticket on November 28. Jamie suggested to move me to another server. I replied, yes please if it is any faster. Ticket took 2 days to be responded by NFP Hosting, 2 DAYS. That’s 48 hours.

My account got moved to server with codename orange. Logged in to cPanel and cPanel displayed a message in the main page saying ‘This copy is a trial version and will expire at the end of the trial term. You will need to upgrade to a paid copy to continue using the software after that term.’. Hmm, what a joke. I also noticed my available bandwidth is 100GB instead of 1TB. I responded to the ticket again on November 30 at 0950 hours, no response till now. Softaculous installer? Nope, not available in my plan. Even though its indicated in the above post that it is included in the $1 plan. I opened another ticket, #573161, minutes ago.

Avoid buying from this hosting provider. They can’t make up their idea on what plan to give me, use an unlicensed cPanel for their paying customer, very slow server loading speed and very unresponsive customer support. 12 years of providing hosting service? I am not sure how they can do it.
