Via this WHT offer (which Kenneth has also sent me a reminding email). Virpus has restructured their plans. Their Budget VPS plans now start at $4/month for “VM512”, or $36/year for annual payments. Here is the sign up link, and this plan comes with
- 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
- 40GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
- 2 IP addresses
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Servers in Kansas City MO (test IP: 208.89.210.1). Comparing to their previous offer postde here, you get less burstable memory, smaller disk space but save $1/month. Virpus has been in VPS business for a while, but you’ll find people quite opinionated about Virpus here on LowEndBox (also on WHT). Comments ranging from “okay” to “definitely avoid”. They might not be in dead pool in the near future, but performance might be mediocre. I can’t back that up myself though, as last time I’ve been their customer is over a year ago.

When you open a support ticket they get back to you with “We will look in to this for you and will update you shortly.” and later ticket is closed without resolution. Definitely avoid.
Hello,
I was able to find out your account, and can confirm that there was a lack of following up on this issue, and I do apologize for this. I will address this with our support staff to avoid this from reoccurring in the future. And just an FYI, you could always send an e-mail to the escalation email found at the bottom of any ticket to send it to an admin.
When there is an issue customer should open a support ticket, right? You always reply with initial reply such as “We will look in to this for you and will update you shortly.” and then you simply forget it. It’s not my problem that your staff is not capable of handling the support requests and I won’t be sending email to your management to get every issue resolved.
Agree
That is definitely your right as well. My response was not to argue with you… my response was to enlighten you, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. While, yes obviously I agree that you should not have to send an e-mail for escalation, and it should just be resolved within your ticket, I am informing you that yes it is possible for a ticket to go overlooked. We have quite a few customers, and depending on what is going on, a ticket can slip under the cracks.
And I’m not sure what is meant by every issue, but you’ve only had 2 tickets opened. One handled by the billing department, and another which is the ticket in question. I don’t see how this constitutes or paints a picture that every ticket should be escalated.
So am I finally going to get a proper reply to my ticket?
Why would we respond to that ticket at this point? You do not have any active services with us.
Excuse me? Search for vps.ikocka.com (IP: 173.0.52.118).
Honestly, I believe Virpus support is outsourced to India or some place… Their support is horrible and I found that out by their 6 months 512 MB VPS.
i have a ticket unsolved from june asking that dd result shoud be > 20MB/s . vps is reported constantly offline because of dd result = 8MB/s.
guess what? still unsolved. lately answers comes after 2 weecks .
today i`ve go an answer telling me that MOMENTARY main node is experiencing problems.
A moment starting in june i suppose.
I have asked cancellation on all 3 vps i had with them at the end of already paid period.
I am using a 2G RAM xen vps from BudgetVM and it works perfectly . DD result on BudgetVM is allwais > 70MB/s , mostly > 100MB/s
im sorry to say but i still have a virpus account from their last yearly promotion (it finishes around the end of this summer i think), and there isnt a day that its not down, no point using it even for a test box, also there is a difference between unmanaged and no-managed being virpus the latter, when you get hosting with virpus you are on your own, good luck! >_<
Yeah, support doesn’t exist at Virpus :S
No way, bad bad bad provider!!!!! Stay awayyyyyyy!
I have seen some reviews similar to ‘I need a VPS after deadly experience with Virpus’, and the likes. I stayed away at the last second. But I still think it’s useful for some tasks…. Especially at $ 4 a month means I can test with minimal loose… But still, network quality and stability of nodes isn’t proven, that’s why I’m wondering which data center they use current;y? or if they own the data center!
They are colocating at Whosaleinternet. The quality and stability of their nodes and is proven to be horrible, so why to test? Not to mention their non-existing support.
Support is not ‘non-existing’ – you yourself received a response within 10 minutes, however as said above, there was a lack of followup. Frankly, we are a very large VPS provider, so sometimes these things do happen. We try to monitor tickets as much as possible to ensure it doesn’t and we have also setup escalation channels for instances such as these.
“We will look in to this for you and will update you shortly.” is not a proper reply on support request. In fact, even a kid can do this. Maybe you realized or not, but these things do happen too often. Just take a look at all unsatisfied customers spreading bad karma about your services.
It is a proper reply to a ticket initially to let you know we are looking into it, however the follow ups are what matter, which I’ve already stated to you several times now that we messed up here. You’re going to have to accept this, because there is nothing more that I can tell you other than I am speaking with our support manager regarding this to prevent it from happening to another customer.
I am with virups since 8 month. Never needed the support.
The major problem was the whole-server-data-deleted issue couple of months ago.
cpanel offer is main advantage.
You’re lucky then. Not a good feeling that there is no support when server goes down, though.
I’m not sure how you could say this either… there were never any reports (tickets) of your VPS being down, only an I/O issue.. so where does this come from?
Search for “Virpus” on WHT and you will see how support tickets are being handled when VPS is down. Do you see?
No, actually I don’t? We have no recent bad reviews that were our fault on WHT. And even in the past 6 months, I do not see a thread of anyone saying they cannot get a response.
Hmm… http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1058478&highlight=virpus
I wouldn’t say that you handled this ticket properly, not to mention the amount of time you needed to get this resolved + same happened next day again.
His ticket did not go unresponded to. There is a different in trying to resolve an issue before responding, and not responding at all. Your claim was “there is no support when server goes down” which is unfounded
Ohh, sorry, but I don’t count “We will look in to this for you and will update you shortly.” as reply.
It is obvious that you yourself have not read the thread to its entirety. At this point, you’re just knit picking, and I have no time for it. Best that you just move on.
Yeah, I already asked for cancelation of my “inactive” service.
@Virpus: what about the legacy plans? are they still available?
Hello there,
No, our legacy plans are not available.
Ops, there are a lot of negative reviews :-s
Actually it is more like 10 negative reviews + 1 positive review…
I think the good part about their services is they offer free DA/CPanel, so if you want to learn those without spending too much money, it is a good service to sign up.
Free DA now only for VM1536 and above only :P
Free CPanel! I want one, where is it?
@vedran: http://virpus.com/standalone/promotions.html
I have had a VPS through virpus for 8 months and have the old “Semi-Managed – U-Basic VPS” plan for $5 a month which had 50GB storage and 1.5 TB transfer. They have had major outages and customer data losses while I have had the service.
My real problem with the service is that they claim support for Arch Linux and they let you install it into your VPS but it does not work. As soon as you update the Arch install the VPS will not boot or allow login. I have contacted support multiple times and they always just say reinstall your VPS. That is not a fix. Every time you reinstall and update it bricks the VPS. The reinstall your VPS email seems to be the extent of their service. They need to stop saying they support this distro if it does not work!
I am on lowendbox to find a new VPS
virpus have a good price, but very weak support.
so just take their vps as a “TOY”
do not put important data on it.
And the CentOS 32/64bit minimal is not working at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then why not open a ticket? This isn’t our help desk.
I already submitted a ticket (I don’t remember when)…but nothing has changed.
Mind providing me your ticket ID? I’d be more than happy to check it out.
when I was a customer (I gave up in Feb, as far as I remember) I’ve open multiple tickets regarding this issue. all of them were acknowledged but the issue WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. seems nothing changed since then
Had a VPS with them last year for like 6 months. It wasn’t that good, although my node wasn’t down as much as others, the support sucked. As others said, they would be like “We’re looking into this” in like the first hour of ticket submission and the “answer” to the ticket will come like 7-8 hours later!
This happened even when they offer first month free management!
Stay away! this is worse than garman offline’s
I’ve had a virpus box since December of last year. Never really had problems with it except maybe once or twice someone killing I/O. dd results are around ~40 MB/s and it’s quite consistent, just about what I need and nothing more.
I never really liked their automated backups that would kill the node at midnight for two or three hours but now that’s been resolved (or so it appears).
Their network blend is quite good, and most files download at more than 9 MB/sec.
Currently, I have 99.95% uptime for the past 30 days (according to pingdom) and 63 days of uptime on the VM itself.
Finally, their support does take a day to get a response, or at least the last time I opened a ticket which was over 3 months ago.
Hey look, I am replying. I signed up for the 512mb service thinking how bad could it be!? 15mb io and 1mb/sec download speeds is how bad. For every new ticket I open I get the response
“Hello,
We apologize for the delay in our response. We are currently experiencing a high volume of support requests and we are working through the queue as quickly as we can. We appreciate your patience during this time.
—
Thank you,
Mr Vazapi
Escalation Bot”
I responded to my own ticket once and got this message… Auto response is not a real response. I have yet to get an answer to the speed problem… oh, asked them why it wasnt setup in SanJose and they said it was full. Thanks for letting me know before I paid you. aaaand I am unable to login to SolusVM, the login info I got in the welcome email isnt right, the account name doesnt even exist.
I shall look elsewhere for my VPS services. oh, they wont refund you either, I asked and I didnt get a answer…
This is NOT our company, nor any signature that we use or have used. Please double check the company because this is way off…
Maybe someone mixed up Vazapi with Virpus?
LOL wtf?
They are not nodes in SanJose, Vazapi is, so no doubt that you meant VAZAPI which is actually hardly even considered a real company, taking into consideration their recent problems and ignoring clients everywhere just like if it is not happening!!
Anyway that is OFF TOPIC. As Virpus isn’t the company your post is talking about. Just the name is similar.
Their support won’t win any awards any time soon, BUT their VPSs are great, instant setup, they give you two IPs with a 4 buck VPS, their uptime is great. What else do you want for $4? I think they already offer to much.
Wait until first issue occurs :P If you read comments above you will see that issues are rarely addressed.
I do not agree with you at all. I am using their 100+ VPS. And now they are not caring me at all.
I got VPS yesterday, and it marked me as fraud. then i opened ticket to abuse department and they manually check status to unpaid and asked me to pay. i paid for the service and i didn’t got any VPS deatils, in their client area it says VPS unavailable. I have open many tickets to their sales, technical and Billing departments, but no body responded properly.
They sucks, ate my money.
Till now i don’t have my VPS details, been two days.
We do not have any pending orders nor any pending tickets related to something you have described. Please get back to me with a ticket ID.
#354359 and #329965 are pending, and i haven’t received VPS welcome email and i guess VPS is not yet setup for me.
Please do not exaggerate the situation for more than it is. Neither of these are two day tickets and at that, your service was only ordered yesterday. This is something that carried over from yesterday evening, that has been dealt with properly however your last response was done after business hours.
I went ahead and sent your details, as it does look that although the order was approved, it never provisioned for whatever reason.
Never mind. Now i got the details. Thanks you so much.
whatever reason?
whatever reason = we are not sure. There is nothing in the logs other than the order was accepted, so from the looks its possible that WHMCS never tried to communicate with SolusVM, but we’re not sure since we’re not the developers of either software…
Ordered and had instant setup – Will post some results when I have finished re-imaging my computer :)
I don’t want buy VPS again from Virpus..I am reseller of virpus..I have more than 30 VPSs At Virpus…But When They have big touble look at http://virpus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168, they just sheer nonsense … they do not want to take responsibility … they do not want to compensate my loss …. big time ….
SO..Don’t Buy Virpus…
I think you’re confused as to the definition of “take responsibility”. I’ll leave you be. No point in arguing with someone who has no clue of what “taking responsibility” means.
Also, to add – any request we received regarding getting compensated due to this incident has been honored. If you have a claim otherwise, I’d like to see your ticket ID.
I opened a support ticket for reverse DNS setup 7 days ago. Still i am not getting a clear answer from them. Always Assign to admin and like that status message. What is going on there? I am there old and big customer. I found you here because i am searching for a new provider. It is an alarm for you. Provide good service otherwise don’t waste our time.
Looking for a solution. I will update here.
Thank you.
Looks like there was a DNS issue with the latest block we were allocated from ARIN. This has been fixed.
Every vps of virpus is slow, they are simply overselling all vps. If you purchase any of their vps, note that down, you will be get slow performance every Saturday + Sunday.
Their support team from India, they dont have root access of any server, and they cant perform any maintenance. They normally perform like a doll. Nothing else.
A little bit money, go with Burst.et and you get much more better performance. No way for Virpus!!!
Have you ever even been a customer? Please provide some details.
Signed up 2 days ago, as I couldn’t find anything on their website regarding IPv6 thought I’d ticket their tech department:
“HI,
Do you currently offer IPv6 connectivity on VPS? If not currently do you know of a approximate timespan until it will be available?
Kind Regards
Kevin”
Now here’s the funny thing
“Technical Support || Staff 07/10/2011 10:44
Hi,
Can you please submit a ticket to our sales department about this? They will be able to better assist you with this inquiriy.
Warm Regards,
Support Engineering Group
Virpus Networks, Inc.”
This is just crazy the tech department don’t know if they have IPv6 connectivity?!? Surely they would be the ones that should know
I’m glad this is just a test box and I backup each night (just in case).
It’s only been a couple of days but we’ll see how it goes
I have got 2 VPS from Virpus since 01/2011.Never have any problem.
I bought another one few days ago.But it’s horrible.
Alwayz goes down. And couldnt boot. Sometimes reboot success. But the Status is offline.
Look at this Knowledgebase: http://myvirpus.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=12
The Support let me check the Lowendscript and resource(WORDPRESS) !!??That’s so ridiculous.
I have to say that Virpus is just hands-down the worst.
Given their prices, I was not expecting much, but they still managed to disappoint.
What really cheesed me is that at one point I wanted to test out DirectAdmin so I ordered it but Virpus never delivered it.
Virpus took my money sure enough and then never provided DirectAdmin.
I emailed a number of times and got the same baloney responses above.
After a number of lame responses (and no responses), I just walked away.
What was I going to do, hire a lawyer over $5.00?
I use low end VPS all of the time for development from places like thrustvps and they are decent enough. You get what you pay for…
Virpus is just the worst.
Lol. This is commical. So much for not wanting to hire a lawyer…you called our office and threatened legal action because WE CANCELLED your order and refunded you because you were going irate stating you would us tied up in court for the next 3 months.
Further the lies and information you left out further prove why we don’t want to d business with you.
Coming here and posting outright lies is not a good idea
Okay, assuming you are right and this person lied, I might be out of place but just to give some further insight, the reason people get upset and threaten legal action is if you waste their time, claim something you cannot provide, aren’t responding to them in a manner they feel is deserving of them or something similar (I am not saying that this is exactly what you are doing but I’m giving reasonable answers for why people would behave “irate”). I don’t think people are out to buy VPS from you for the purpose of coming here to bash your company name and product. I said this before and I’ll say it again, its about the service and what people expect from you.
I trust that you will not take this post as an attack to your name and brand of which I am a customer of. I have seen that you guys have been making a better effort to respond to tickets more insightfully (sometimes) so I must give you kudos for that.
Well Virpus isn’t all that bad, apart from some support guys and some I/O problems…they should take customers feedback more seriously.
well … i am with virpus since october 2010 and really can say that virpus HAS SUPPORT .
Maybe not moving fast enough to satisfy everyone but they are there and they do (try to) fix stuff.
I just had a problem with my vps (not virpus fault but their job to fix it). Their max time reply after me messaging them was 1 ( one ) hour ( yes , it was required for me and virpus to communicate a few times to solve it ) and , including my 10 hours of not answering them the problem was fixed in about 24 hours from my opening ticket (and it was not one easy-to-solve-problem , at least in my opinion)
I am really happy with them and i do recommend virpus to everyone.
As l already said before ( here ) :
Thank you Virpus!Thank you Virpus!Thank you Virpus!
Im a virpus client.. As resuming it all as some already sai it.
Take virpus as a ”toy”, and to learn cpanel and test stuff. But dont use it for serious stuff..
Not sure where all these negative comments come from. Prolly other VPS providers hating on their steal of a deal at $4 a month. I have 6 VPS’s with them and am more than happy. Seriously at $4 a month why are you complaining if it’s a bit slow? A+ in my book.
A+++++++ Virpus. I had a big issue in my node. Now they fixed it and VPS is working like a charm. Keep it up Virpus.
Nice to see so many nice reviews for Virpus :)
Hehe. I actually have a Virpus VPS that I use for tracking the low end providers. 26 days of uptime so far. The only issue I had was with clock synchronization and it was resolved within a few hours. Performance is all over the place but it’s not an important node for me so I have no complain.
I am sure many others have very different experience (some might be caused by very different expectation).
Was trying to find out more about Nordicvps.com but the website seems down… what’s going on?
IIRC they were dead o_O But… https://twitter.com/#!/nordicvps wtf
hmmm indeed… maybe its just some sort of script harvesting data and posting to their twitter… Ironic that NordicVPS commented on Virpus and are now “dead”…
Well down 13 hours, tickets are just being marked as “in progress” and no replies.
How long can these jokers go on ignoring their customers?
Really pleased with the VPS, however ticket replies are really bad. Especially asking for information about “downtime” and “compensation” for downtime. My ticket has been waiting 6 days to be answered. Also been blocked from Facebook wall, because I asked them to answer my ticket. Really bad customer service Virpus!!!!
Yes they really need to take things more seriously and it reflects badly on the management of Virpus but it seems they really don’t care. I think they really need to educate themselves by taking some business related courses like Marketing 101.
Just brought this plan, first VPS so I can’t comment on anything really. But, it all seems pretty good. They seem to have more downtime than other providers according to reviews but they also have fast servers. You get what you pay for and this is value for money.
@Virpus Networks
I am asking regarding my DirectAdmin license code. Here my Ticket ID: 797232. Your support staff say: ”
We are moving your request to the department concerned” and I asking: “Which one departments? But, they are not responding.
Sorry, I am asking here.
Hope, I will get fast respond.
Thanks.
@Virpus Networks
My problems is resolved within 2 days.
Thank you
Excellent. My Ticket ID: 441073 is resolved within 10-20 minutes.
Thank you.
Nice, good going Virpus!
Hi I accidental forgot to pay the monthly bill. Service is terminated now. I’m shocked about my data. Will they be safe in virpus?
Sorry to say that I can confirm this and lower IO on my VPS as well… decided to turn the box into a secondary server due to the overall low performance especially from IO aspect :(
I wouldn’t purchase a VPS from Virpus again after feeling the sting of 20-90 second save times within my favorite console text editor ( 10KB file? REALLY? ), random network dropouts and stunning lack of IO.
They can’t be all bad, given the positive reviews. However, I have two friends who I recommended to Virpus due to how cheap they were ( given that they were willing to try and resolve the issues I had, even though they kept coming back ) who had identical results.
I’ve moved to another provider and I’m quite happy,
Good Luck folks.
Unfortunately I have to agree with what you are saying here. It’s not rocket science though, if they provide better service, they’d probably have a better branded name, more pleased customers and therefore more recommended customers. I really cannot understand how they operate like this. At the same time, once in a while they do provide a meaningful answer to support tickets but I hate it (in general) when tickets are replied without an explanation of what caused the issue. After all, we are human beings and more human beings like closure.
Wow that is slower than my box and my box was slow! How is it working out for you?

I tried BuyVM, SolusVM, CHVPS but Virpus is the best for me. I have a VPS since 15 months. My uptime is very good (>99,6%) and the support is very fast. They has same security problems but the speed, price and services are the best for this price.
They are since 6 years on the market.
Hi Mate, would you be so kind as to share your I/O experience with us? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I mean the I/O benchmarks… a few people have posted the command to do it in the comments
You tried SolusVM? Since when do they sell VPS services?

After much complaints and finally moving over to another VPS provider, this is the current IO on my no-traffic VPS at Virpus, the performance looks surprisingly good, I’ll keep monitoring it before I decide if I’m going to switch back over to this server as a live server.

Just got an email from Virpus saying OVZ-Phantom experienced complete data loss *sighs* Really tired of Virpus… this is the second time around :(
Personally i have an awful service from virpus. I signed up to this offer only to find a VPS with massive connectivity issues. Their technical staff clearly didn’t understand the issue, and didn’t seem capable of reading the content of emails fully. They also seem to like sending you passwords in plain text. For these reasons i canceled my account within 24 hours of opening in, and will never go back. I recommended you DO NOT use virpus.
