A new promotion from BuffaloVPS, which was sent to me by Chris from ChicagoVPS, whom I presume is “helping out” looking after the shop while Adam is taking a break. Anyway. It’s Xen this time, which hasn’t been “on sale” at ChicagoVPS/BuffaloVPS for quite sometime. Use coupon code Xensale to take the Xen VPS “Standard” package down to $5.99/month. Direct order link here.
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer
- Xen/SolusVM
PayPal only. Servers with ColoCrossing in Chicago IL (test IP: 205.234.159.210). Both ChicagoVPS and BuffaloVPS have been regularly featured here so do check out some of the comments and reviews. As far as I can see, Chris/Jeremiah/Adam provide quite active support. Their OpenVZ VPS might be a bit overloaded, but with Xen VPS you pretty much get dedicated memory and disk space.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
How many IPv4 comes with the 5.99 plan?
It says 1 on their website…
Yes LEA is correct it is only 1.
I will be back next week from my trip 🙂
Thanks,
Adam
IPv6?
Not yet, however our provider is finally getting ready to support it 🙂
No Debian 6?
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo 😀
I could have sworn that this was Pony country….
🙂
Do they still resell ChicagoVPS?
We have our own machine now through ChicagoVPS
Thanks,
Chris
I would avoid this one. My machine was not provisioned properly (“Destination Unreachable”) and I’ve had an open ticket for hours. I also tried to reach them via live chat but no luck. I would recommend going with another provider if uptime and responsiveness are important to you.
Denos,
We are having a few issues right now that we are trying to fix that take higher priority.
appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Adam
Update: The issue was resolved. Now that I have access to the VPS, I will say that it is snappy and the outbound bandwidth is better than expected. Although I will still say that they need to work on improving their response times, I can’t really complain too much for $6/month.
What kind of templates are available? It is not stated in the offer page I suppose..
We can supply you with any template you need.
Thanks,
Adam
Ordered one today and still waiting for my VPS information. I wish they would set it up today.
Hello,
Everyone should be provisioned, it your not please submit a ticket as something may have went wrong.
Regards,
Chris
My vps is already provisioned but cannot login to the server. I already submitted a ticket. 🙂
I submitted a ticket as well, since I’m still waiting for provisioning and server information.
Very excited to try this out. I’ve been digging around for great VPS prices to use for a new startup project.
Ordered on Friday, received confirmation at 2:14pm. VM wouldn’t boot though. Went to live chat, was told it takes a few minutes to set up so I left it alone and tried it later. Still won’t boot. I put in a ticket yesterday but it doesn’t appear on the support site anymore and I didn’t get a copy of it in email like the support site said I would. I put in a new ticket, #326187. 48+hrs and still don’t have a working VM. I don’t know about this….
3+ days now, still don’t have a bootable VPS account. I’ve used the automated reinstall and can’t boot it after that either.
Hello,
I will make sure to tell Adam about this, I know he has been very sick the past few days. But still no excuse for the delay.
Regards,
Chris
Chris Fabozzi,
when will you ‘1024’ again?
…
paid already half day, didn’t enable yet,
live chat isn’t enable too…
i wouldn’t suggest these guys.
after 1 month they suspended my account for non-payment…
i have paypal invoices stating it was payed 5 days ago…
their response via ticket support was less than adequate (listed lower)
IMO rookies.
