Yeah the cool thing about Vanilla for a small forum was easily accessible. I find that I can go in and flick through it like a magazine without going through so many hoops.
I have IPB 1.3. Old script but it is free and this version has been security audited.

In my optionen noone has the right to ddos/hack a site with the “reason” to not like the owner or what he is doing/saying.

You left out the part where PhoenixVPS and CatalystHost setup a site called LowEndTalk.in that uses Vanilla and looks exactly like LowEndTalk.com and has the same categories. 2 “providers” added to my black list.
I’m not sure where Catalyst Host’s name is on that but you’re free to say as you please.
I’ve set this up for people who wanted to have a forum while the other one was down. I’ve put my name on the domain registration so it’s not like I was trying to hide it. You are pretty stupid in your logic, you know that? Setting up a two bit online forum took less than 15 minutes of work. LET is been down what, 3 days mow? Get a move on it and make it work again so we all have a forum instead of doing DDoS attacks on this one you prick.

@peppr, Catalyst Host has absolutely no problem with ChicagoVPS or any other provider that is on LET. I apologize if you ever got this impression. There is enough room in this industry for all of us. If only more people would realize this. I have actually sent a few clients to ChicagoVPS in the past. I also send people to other providers as well, they all know who they are. So I am not sure where you are getting that our businesses can not co-exist. We are great friends with a lot of providers on LET. The truth was going to come out at some point, just sad it came out months later. So I will extend my offer as well, you can contact either of us at any time.

I have no real interest to hear how well you get along with providers X and Y. Again I am no way affiliated to any provider. @Liam, you have been always good to me and I have tremendous respect for you. I see that LET is being set up on Rackspace so I would call that progress. Maybe the old drama should be left behind and the new LET should have none of it. The information and comments are about as useful as glasses for a blind man. Instead of trying to moderate it just cut the whole thing off (delete it). It’s about as solid advise as I can give.
If the new LET is run by you then me and others will return, otherwise we have no interest to do so. You are a good person and we all respect you.

Every respectable member of this community has moved on to VPSBoard.com and Todd Switzer aka DomainBop (amongst other) are still doing DDoS attacks against that web site, just like he did against us for the short time that we set up lowendtalk.in.
Spirit you’re probably not from the US, but here DDoS attacks are considered criminal and you go to jail if you perform such attacks.
He also made threats against me and others, as well as slandered me and others publicly in his self business interest as well as in the interests of the people running LowEndTalk and LowEndBox. I started using a paid for PO Box on my domain names because I am tired of the spam and junk mail that I get, mostly for Search Engine Optimization. I’m sure that many of you guys are familiar with what I’m talking about, especially those phone calls about how some company can make you rank high in Google, as well as those pieces of mail promising the same thing.

Just want to chime in and let it be known vpsBoard was never meant to be a LET/LEB replacement, it was started in March and was for general VPS discussion. Not ‘low end’ $7/mo limited VPSes. When SHTF here, people migrated.

Your BS is not worth my time. I was a random community member who tried to help out. I’ve taken down the stupid Vanilla Forum because it’s crappy software anyway that doesn’t work right. It’s riddled with bugs. I should have installed XenForo or something else that is more usable and not filled with bugs, but I wanted to give community members a place to stay while you were trying to bring back LET. But it’s fine, I will redo the site the way I think it should be done properly, with the right software and those community members that want to join can join. It will be open to everyone.

I also think that LEB/LET have been hijacked. From what i hear now LEA didnt sell it, it was taken by someone who then after neglecting it a lot sold it to a provider.
It is no longer a community site and you are only protecting the “rights” of a corporation which didnt do squat for the community except providing some DDoS protection and hosting.
While I do not agree with any sort of vandalism, the community needs a new place and leave this to the companies to advertise.
Not too often that I agree with Maounique, but the bad faith that ColoCrossing has shown to the community in the underhanded way they kept their ownership of LowEndBox and LowEndTalk secret has killed all the enthusiasm I had for this place.
LEA did more like a handover to a team and not a single person from what I remember. I am not sure how someone can sell this off and just disappear??

Actually, the order is this:
Get someone else’s work for free->make a lot of money doing basically nothing->disappear->sell.
Chief found a team to help him run LEB/LET, but it was completly owned by him. It’s really sad what Chief has done to this community.
Chief was the only owner after LEA.
Rest of the people (me included) did everything for free, helping out the community.
After awhile things got out of hand because of no direction pointed out from the leader which led every team member to work out of their own head.
Some people was offered things in return (money, items) from Chief. Some accepted the payout.
I guess Chief got tired of all of it and decided to sell to the company hosting the server without letting the community or the team know that it was sold.
Bad decision according to me.
In my eyes, the only person that should be blamed is Joel and only Joel. They handed over the community to him and as far as I am informed, one of the first things he has done is start looking for the highest bidders for the site. Guys, you are lucky that CC aquired the site, over some of the other bidders ;)

well, ColoCrossing I guess should not be blamed, except for the fact that they kept the secret but well, I think that was also one of Chief’s conditions for handing it over, he did not want a furious mob searching for him.
If someone offers you a sure deal would you say no? Put yourself in CC’s position. In my opinion, all the blame goes out to Chief, who cared more about some money than about the community. If he did not have time, did not have resources, etc, he should have left it to someone who could take care of it, but well, the deal is done, and I don’t think CC is into donations, and basically donating it back to the community does not guarantee another LEA will come, because in this world there are 1 LEA’s for 100,000 Chiefs

Can everyone just calm down.. Really.. Something as simple as “Our forums went down and we’re taking measures to put it back up” has blown into accusing other companies and all this hate on supposed ‘trolls’. What happened, happened. LET.in is now down (as far as I can tell) so why don’t we all just stop the bashing and let LET/LEB sort it out. It’s as if all the professionalism has gone out the window.
