Fliphost – $13.50/year 128MB OpenVZ VPS in Dallas and Buffalo, $18/year 50mbit OpenVZ VPS in Dallas, and more

Tags: , , , , , Date/Time: April 12, 2014 @ 12:01 am, by Maarten Kossen

fliphostAlex, from Fliphost, is back with a nice load of offers! While they usually come up with KVM offers, this time it’s OpenVZ’s turn! There’s four normal SSD-based OpenVZ VPS offers and three “normal storage” OpenVZ VPS offers with unlimited bandwidth. The storage offers are only available in Dallas, while the other offers are also available in Buffalo. Fliphost were founded in June 2011 and have since been purchased by Query Foundry. They do run as an independent brand in the Query Foundry “family of brands”, with Query Foundry having recently acquired LiquidHost and GetDedi a bit before that. Fliphost have featured several times before and their offers are usually quite popular. They have also had a popular dedicated server offer a while back. Alex informs us that the servers they run are Dual E5-16XX’s with 128GB RAM and 8x Intel 520 SSDs in hardware RAID10 with the LSI 9266/9271 card. Feel free to share your experiences with Fliphost in the comments.

  6. I’ve had a storage vps with fliphost for just over 11 months (May 2013) and have nothing but positives to say about them. I’m even happier because I got one of the special 1000GB promos.

    Hello,

According to your TOS, you don’t allow “large files” for the purpose of download. Is it still valid for the storage servers as I think that the purpose of those kind of servers are for storing and donwloading “large files” especially with unlimited bandwith. Not searching for abuse and no agressive talking here but a real question ! ;-)

    Thanks.

In my account welcome package, it states clearly:

    1. We offer Offloaded SQL for free to all customers, open a ticket and ask us about it!

However, when I opened the ticket, the support person declined my request.

what a terrible customer experience. please be aware of FlipHost!

    • As mentioned in your ticket, it was a mistake in the email. I am sorry that you are upset however we offered to refund you if it changed your need for the server. That option is still available if you so choose.

The coupon should apply at checkout but that doesn’t always seem to work. Look at the URL when you first click it, you’ll see promocode=####### – copy the art after the = and before the next &, that’s the coupon code. Should be able to apply it at checkout if it doesn’t apply automatically.

I have had a dedicated server with Fliphost for several months now. We’ve had a couple minor downtime events, but they have been VERY prompt in responding and it was nothing major. Once a switch failed due to a 2 second power outage, just had to reboot (that was months ago & additional generators were installed) and another when someone else on our node got DDoS’d. THAT instance is what earned them my loyalty. I opened a ticket & had a resolution in under an hour, along with a CLEAR explanation of what had happened compared to the generic excuses we get from many of the other LEB providers. I absolutely CAN NOT recommend this host strongly enough & even though we have our own cloud with them I think I might just grab one of these VPS’ as well. They set themselves apart with excellent customer service, fast response times and even under a heavy load our Dedi has experience zero issues (other than stated above). We went through 5 other hosts before we found FlipHost and I highly doubt we will ever move elsewhere. Thank you Fliphost!!!

I ended up snagging the SSD1, haven’t run any benchmarks as I needed to get it setup for a project (Horde mail server). Fast, responsive, have had no issues thus far & am not expecting to. If you’re on the fence on these offers, snag ’em while you can. I am not kidding when I say this is the best host I have EVER used. Hope my comments help :)
