Skylar, from Crissic Solutions, has sent in three special offers for LowEndBox, located in Jacksonville, Florida run completely off their own equipment!
1GB RAM
| 2GB RAM
| 512MB RAM

Crissic Solutions, LLC was founded in April 2013 and are incorporated as an LLC in Missouri. Skylar is familiar with the hosting industry and has been around a while. Crissic have a transparency policy which is a good things for customers. Recently, they have acquired some IP space directly from ARIN and have their own AS (AS62639). They can also SWIP IPs for a once-off flat fee of $2. Their old nodes in Jacksonville use the dual Xeon L5520, with at least 36GB and 32GB DDR3 ECC RAM while their newer nodes have dual L5639’s hex cores, 36GB RAM and 4x1TB hard drives in RAID10. There haven’t been many reviews recently, but the general gist is positive. There is a quite detailed review on LET and I personally have a machine with them as well and I can only say it’s a very decent provider!
Crissic accept payments via both Stripe and PayPal with a 10 day money back policy as standard. In short, their AUP forbids IRC, Bittorrent, P2P, Warez, spamming, or anything illegal in the USA, however does permit private proxies and VPNs. Additional high-speed bandwidth can be purchased for $2.50 per TB. Backups are made weekly on VPS nodes but of course you are encouraged to keep your own backups, they also have a fairly detailed step by step process for spam/bulk e-mailing. Their TOS is available here and AUP here.

Hi Team,
I had a 512 yearly vps with Crissic a few months ago. I had trouble with I/O because when I was compressing or decompressing a large file for backup. Your I/O protection system automatically cuts off the operation. You said you turned it off that time when I replied in your previous off a few weeks ago. I just wonder if the I/O limitation still there because I’m thinking about buying a 2G monthly VPS but I definitely don’t really want to have that tight I/O strict due to the site I will be running is about 20G size for data. I will backup quite a few. Is this going to be ok?
Cheers
I’ve noticed the same problem as well. They limited IO intensive operations apparently.
I understand that they want to make sure the good performance for every customer. But for larger VPSs, people might run big site and backup large files regularly so… what’s the cure?
Yes we use software that proactively limits the I/O of the VPS’s to combat abuse. Feel free to send in a Support Ticket once you get a server and we can raise the limits per container.
Let me get this straight..I need to send a ticket to get my VPS to properly create a big tar archive?
What’s the limit per container?
Actually, scratch that – there was a “memo” last week stating that we were no longer doing I/O limiting on our nodes. Sorry about the misinformation.
Web’s second comment is correct, we are no longer automatically limiting IO operations via VPSMON. Ultimately was causing too many issues such as in your case so we opted to disable it.
finally, and how about email limitation? too strict even just few email in a hour. but sadly I’ve left you because you don’t lift that limit when I’m with you.
We have a less strict limit in place (by default) I believe it to be 150 in a 15 minute period. The intent behind this is to prevent spam abuse so we don’t get hit with backlist (those aren’t fun hen it hits a full /24 and messes it up because one person was being bad).
The limit of course can be removed entirely, just open a ticket and let us know what you are using your services for and we’ll remove it.
Their OpenVZ has a issues with iptables, support is great and very responsive but unable to fix this problem, not recommend for VPN, pick up KVM
Interesting, do you have a ticket number, or can you submit a ticket?
Already drop account few months ago,its abnormal, iptables resets every day, just stick to open tickets every day, sorry.
I had VPS with them from about 3 days, tell now everything going well
Hi,
Which DataCenter you are using?
We are in GoRack in Jacksonville Florida. You can test out connectivity at our looking glass page http://lg.crissic.net/
How Crissic and NodeServ are related? I must have missed something…
NodeServ purchases rack space from Crissic. I happen to do support at both companies because well they were the only two companies that offered me an internship.
As web mentioned, Nodeserv collocates with Crissic. Web is providing support for both companies, but that is where any direct connection between the two companies end.
I see. Good luck guys!
Is this price offer for the first month/year or is it recurring?
Yes. It is recurring price and not one time.
Btw, I’m an existing satisfied customer of Crissic.
Thank you!
Correct these prices are recurring.
So torrents are not allowed even for personal use only ?
Correct, Torrent’s aren’t allowed at all.
how about bittorrent sync (BTSync)
I do not use BTSync for file sharing…
i run 3 dns servers, i use BTSync to update the dns records from my home pc, each dns server has a script that reloads the dns records every hour, so the servers do NOT need ftp or ssh – so i worry less about hackers..
BTSync is fine for a purpose like that.
thank you (i see no way to reply below)
will be ordering the 512MB RAM $15 per year, will be my East Coast DNS server..
shame about the cpanel fee you would have had a customer if it was $10
Yeah, unfortunately BuyCPanel charges us more than $10/License.
We *are* considering going for a cPanel NOC partnership which would get us $11/m licenses — if there’s enough interest we’ll speed the process up along
Please do something on cpanel license. Probably, you could get us $11-$12 internal licenses if not $10/m.
The cost to get a cPanel NOC Partnership is $1000 so we’re INTERESTED in getting this to offer cheaper licenses, but it just isn’t worth the money at the moment — I’d rather spend that money on servers or other things such as network upgrades, etc. Once we’re more stable with finances and not expanding so rapidly then we’ll get it, but right now money in goes right back out relatively fast for new hardware and other upgrades.
I don’t know about the service of Crissic. But, I have a great fascination towards their Website Design. I visit their website for their Design. :-P Thinking to have one from $15 Offer. Do you have any benchmark ? If the Port Speed is 1 gbit (as you mentioned) and Disk I/O 100+ (I mean not under 100 mbps) will work for me :)
Definitely a great design.
Yep, design much better than on Cloudch and UGVPS :D We seen who are care..
Our average disk IO on a loaded node is less than 100, average is about 80-95. Glad you like our website :)
just tried the 512M plan, not so good. it’s takes ages to install magento and finally failed. The program just stopped while trying to write into database.
If you send in a support ticket we can transfer you to a brand new node.
thanks for the reply. I will continue to test for a while and see if i need to move to another node.
I am considering purchasing their 512mb yearly one please give me update how was your experience.
Is IRC-clients allowed? and is IPv6-rDNS available out-of-the-box?
Yes IRC clients are allowed. IPv6 rDNS is available from the SolusVM control panel.
I had a vps with Crissic a few months ago,i like the services ,the support and network speed , but you are killing me with i/o speed, if they update put ssd caching i will tranfer all my vps’s bak to them, they can be one of the best provider.
We may consider doing SSD caching in the future. I consider the I/O speeds on one of our full nodes pretty okay for average use.
[~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync; unlink test
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 15.3309 s, 70.0 MB/s
i get 55 MB/s or less on my vps. which is i really dissapointed..
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 20.958 s, 51.2 MB/s
other than I/O speed, everything is good. you really should implement ssd caching
SSD caching upgrades is something I’d anticipate within the next 6months — that’s the game plan at least :)
great news.. :)
if you get ssd caching.. i’ll buy more servers from you guys..
dissapointed? how about 117 kB/s?
1740+0 records in
1740+0 records out
114032640 bytes (114 MB) copied, 972.983 s, 117 kB/s
dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync; unlink test
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 17.2159 s, 62.4 MB/s
O.o
Everyone is all hung up on I/O for some reason. That pretty good average.
no it’s not it took effing 10 minutes to do an apt-get install nginx command the download went fast but it was a pain in the ass to install I Have some other vps that have the same average I/o and done it faster ’nuff said…
I bought the $3 VPS a couple of days ago to run a Java P2P application without reading the AUP beforehand.
Everything was going smoothly until today, when I found my service to be suspended and the reason being “You have infringed the AUP. We have heard from other companies the application XXX has high I/O utilization.”
I thought it was weird since I’ve never had that problem on other VPS’ and I was confident there was no high I/O utilization involved in said app.
After opening a ticket and detailedly specifying what it was for and how much resources it used, I am very happy to say that they did revoke the suspension on a per-case scenario.
If your application falls short on the APU, I’d still suggest contacting them and explaining what you’re intending to use it for. They seem like very reasonable people and if you aren’t trying to deceive them I suspect you’ll be granted grace on it.
So there’s a problem with the IO. That’s why when I tried to buy the vps last month and installing it using Minstall, load increasing. So I just cancel it after one week.
People really it not I/O that affects something like apt-get or yum install hahaha. Its called cpu units, so on so fourth. It just more than i/o that plays factors with things like that. So please stop saying the i/o sucks because really that is pretty good average!
Wrong, it’s kinda bad. Actually it’s the worst among my 65 VPS: http://www.hostingwizard.net//?h=Crissic
That VPS was good but disk I/O is really getting slow. SSD caching is strongly awaited.
Dear,
I have a small question, I’m kinda new in renting a VPS.
– Can I just access the VPS using SSH (is it enabled at installation)
– Can I use any port to connect to (f.ex If I want a service on port 8080 or something)
Best Regards,
Maxim
yes for OpenVZ server, KVM server is just like a no-os computer.
most ports should be open for common programs.
Hello,
I have ordered for 1 GB vps, but when I want to pay by Paypal, it requires my Paypal Account to link to a credit card or debit card. I have balance in my account, and my Paypal Account is verified one.
What should I do then? I found this vps so promising.
Please help.
Regards,
Budiarno
No worries, I clicked the wrong link.
It’s okay now.
Hey,
Im having the same trouble.. I have enough money on my paypal
but It keeps asking for my credit card as ‘backup’.
What button did you press?
gr,
Maxim
No gameservers allowed (minecraft specifically) :(
No gameservers allowed :(
so I was asked to provide a domain name when checkout, how can this be skipped since I donot have one currently?
It’s just required for provisioning. Doesn’t have to be an actual domain, just some data longer than 4 characters will do.
I bought one vps but it’s not working I sended e-mail and they told me that everything is okay from them side but I can’t login to ssh even via console .
I have done reinstallations of os etc but nothing is working .
Which specific ticket?
It is a very nice deal at the price point. I am not familiar with the provider but at least some comments seem to indicate some sort of performance issues. I hope they get it worked out. I have enough reliable VPS’s at the moment, but I’d like to take another sometime next year. I’ll keep an eye out.
Bunch of performance issues related to some abuse with the sale or heavy usage from new servers all at once, we’ve stabalized it a bit better now so should be fewer issues.
Yes, totally understandable. I feel like whenever providers post deals, there’s a much higher chance of abuse or excessively heavy usage.
Mounting custom ISO available?
My VPS kept restarting, support informed me that there was a cap on CPU usage, that my instance of bitcoind was exceeding, and the VPS was consequently restarted. So all in all you risk your server being rebooted if some process uses too much CPU time at some point. I can’t use this for anything serious. Resource limitations are fine, but cold reboots are not.
To be fair, bitcoining isn’t permitted regardless, as per our AUP it falls under a high-resource usage. We’re working to elaborate further to include bitcoin farming, but bitcoin farming is not permitted — You cannot expect to maintain a load of 5.0 for extended periods of time without issues arising for those you are affecting on the node.
This method is utilized to keep things fair for other users on the node. You are in a virtualized environment, not a dedicated one.
It is not Bitcoin mining/farming. It’s running a Bitcoin node that processes transactions and keeps track of the balances of Bitcoin addresses.
Mining is only profitable on specialized hardware (ASICs). CPU mining stopped being profitable several years ago.
Try their competitor nodeserv.com i think you will get much better cpu.
I got BlueVM to make me a VPS with a slow CPU (500-700 MHz single core) that I can max out, plus 1 GB RAM for $49/yr. So I’m going with that. Thanks though. I really don’t need a lot of CPU power. I just need to be able to max it out at times, without getting shut down completely. It’s not a real-time application, they could throttle me to 100 MHz if they wanted, but rebooting my VM isn’t acceptable.
I really hate it myself just limit cpu but reboot is not acceptable.Suppose if you are running website on vps then your traffic is gone.
Exactly. I can’t operate a service under those conditions.
The limit is imposed to maintain integrity across the node for all customers. A node cannot maintain 100 VPS at a 3.0+ load as it will seriously slow down for other customers on the server. If you are using your service for legitimate uses that aren’t things such as bitcoin farming that really shouldn’t be on a VPS then you very likely won’t even be restarted (of our 1600 VPS only 2 have been rebooted for regular CPU/load abuse in the last week or so, both of which had been utilizing software that is against our TOS and AUP)
Again, it’s not Bitcoin mining. It’s running a Bitcoin node. A Bitcoin node simply processes incoming transactions (which happen, on average, at a rate of a single transaction per second). The CPU usage for this is very minimal when it’s synced with the network. The initial sync, however, takes up a lot of resources, since it has to process all past transactions to get up-to-date. Once it’s up-to-date it only needs to process around two transactions per second, on average, with a single transaction taking around 2 ms of CPU time to process.
The optimal solution to this would be to throttle CPU usage. Ie. when I hit a limit, you simply reduce the speed of my CPU to, let’s say, 100 MHz. This will ensure the rest of the VPSs can get their share without me bogging down all the resources.
The issue isn’t necessarily CPU time though, it’s also LOAD which is a factor of multiple other issues. We have CPU throttling setup at specific limits, but if your load is as high as it was then it would get restarted under that.
Had we been informed that it was a temporary requirement for the load to spike so high to sync initially, we could have removed the limitations temporarily until the process was completed had we been notified of the intentions.
I get 117 KB/s or less on my vps. are you killing me..????
1740+0 records in
1740+0 records out
114032640 bytes (114 MB) copied, 972.983 s, 117 kB/s
What specific test are you running? JAX7 is our worst node and I’m pulling 72.8M/s
I’m also getting around 100 – 130 KB/s
It is painfully slow when trying to upload anything.
Can you submit a ticket? I’ve received a grand total of 1 ticket relating to slow IO speeds and we didn’t get anywhere close to that result when running a DD test within their VPS.
Just as an update NOBODY opened a ticket relating to this “issue” and we double checked all 10 of our OVZ nodes and had been unable to reproduce this “test”.
> DP said “114032640 bytes (114 MB) copied, 972.983 s, 117 kB/s”
For reference purposes, that is approximately the same I/O speed as the average 3 1/2″ floppy drive in the 1990’s :P
Lol :D
Just like Isaac asked, is IRC services like eggdrops, psybncs, zncs, sbncs are allowed as long as they are using IPv6 addresses instead of ipv4?
I am interested in ordering the $15 / year deal. In real how many IPv6 would I get with RDNS from SolusVM?
IPv6 rDNS via Solus is fully supported yes. ZNC etc is totally fine, we just don’t want an actual IRCD server hosted.
Sure then, going to order it within few minutes and hope everything will be working fine as mentioned. I already have a node from ramnode and its too good already.
Hello,
Can I set up a VPN on this vps for my own use?
Regards,
Flyfish
Ordered the $15 / year deal. VPS delivered instantly but the IPv6 address were not added, I guess I had requested 64 ipv6 addresses may be that’s why its taking time to set them up. I will keep you guys updated with the services
We do not auto provision Ipv6 at this time. Handled via ticket :)
Thanks :)
IPv6 added successfully after submitted a ticket but the ticket replied very quickly (in 6 minutes).
If I order a VPS 512 15$ annually, do I pay that price forever?
Best Regards!
I started off on the 256MB for a couple of months before upgrading to the 512MB last week for $15.
The service is great and I have not had any problems. Today I decided to upgrade to the 1GB ($28). I raised a support ticket and only had to pay an extra $13.
Great Service I must say.
I can access my container, but not the client interface, because it “forgot” my password (I am sure I used correct one) so I tried to reset the password, I receive email, click link, it says “Password reset successful” but no chance to setup a new one. So what did it reset to ?
I have 2 VPS with them, and today I just realized one of my VPS has lost communication on port 25 with external world (gmail is exception, surprise!) few days, causing all mail sent from my VPS is queue & returned (expired). I am not sure this is the action of “fighting spam” or any other issue but this is definitely a wrong move. if communication to port 25 is blocked, then your VPS no longer suitable to use for any mail service. any advise ??
We replied to your ticket. Our AUP and transparency policy go into great detail as to our email policy.
hi,
i have a question. as ppl are talking abt disk io, i have dedi server with servermania, snelserver, perfectip, all with vmware esxi 5.0, i run asterisk on all guest os, now i plan to use vps, i already running asterisk with servermania ssd vps with 512mb ram. for 50+ calls the asterisk crash, now i realize i need more ram like 1gb for 50+ calls, can i use asterisk and run calls on it, all i do is protocol conversion with custom protocol named sync.
using the 512MB for a month now, using it for simple (private) webhosting, datastorage.
a lot of bang for buck, speed is good!
Started off well and I was happy. Now it’s slow, intermittent packet loss, not all the time but most of the time. I guess the node is full now and the overselling starts.
Can you open a ticket for me Danny so I can take a look into it? Our newest nodes are working very well without any of these issues, it’s possible you are on one of our older nodes that we are working to upgrade off of. Drop us a ticket and I’ll see what I can do for you :)
Hi,
Is it possible to Combine 2 $15 Plan all together?
We are offering a yearly package on all plans at the moment.
