Servers in Equinix Zurich Datacenter, Switzerland (test IP: 46.19.136.1). Domain has been registered since April 2010, and both NS are on the same box. Nothing much changed since their previous spot here last July. Still part of “RH Groups” that claimed to be around since 2003. Domain is still WHOIS guarded. Quite a lot of broken links on the website. No SSL for the client area. The WHOIS record of that test IP belongs to Private Layer in Panama — could have been the upstream.

I guess that hasn’t changed my confidence (or lack of). However it’s the only Switzerland low end box we’ve got so far so could try it out if you really want one in Equinix Zurich.

          Yeah :-) However rarely I do contact support because my servers and VPS are “expendable” — automatically replaced by others during outages and cancelled if performance/uptime is not acceptable. If the service is not stable I just move on, then support response time is not important when I’m running cheap VPSs.

    Hostrail has moved there NL based location to Switzerland (There site is not modified yet).
    And now they are moving there DE based location to there as well.
    They are located in the same data center as this one.

    • I had just ordered a DE VPS from HostRail when they sent me an email saying they were now moving their DE VPS’s to the same datacenter my NL VPS with them are now in. I only ordered it because of the location. Time to find another cheap DE offer :(

        The fact is I kept my “French VPS” hosted in Frankfurt (Netdirekt) for only $2.5 USD and so far so good.

    Downtime from ~ 04:00pm yesterday (March,31st) to 07:45am now (CET) => 15h.

    The contact person answering my 1st ticket needet to “contact technical support”, which he presumed answering within 24h.

    I am still waiting …

    Still haven’t had my VPS provisioned yet. Received a response two days ago saying “All our server are full. Our new server will be ready tommorow. Your VPS vill be ready in 12 hours.” and offering me a $5 credit. Support responses are *very* slow. I highly recommend against them based on these issues. If my node is every activated I will try to offer feedback on the VPS itself.

    Have you already been trying to install OPENVPN or some firwewall rules with IPTABLES?

    If no: try it, tell me if your VPS came with TUN/TAP- and IPTABLES-support ootb.

    if yes: did you have to submit a ticket in order to get it running?

    On my VPS@1cheaphosting.net I had to submit 2 tickets and wait for ten days to get it running – which is very slow and obv lame at all, as enabling these services is mandatory.

    As posted before, the server where my VPS was created needed date/time adjust as it was quite wrong. Five hours after I opened a ticket asking the support to fix it they replied asking my root password! Out of sheer curiosity to see how my VPS password could work to adjust the server’s clock I replied the ticket with it. Six day after, no VPS access by them, no data/time fix, no ticket reply. I then cancelled the VPS according to their rules — including the 7 day money back no question asked — but I never was refunded. Few hours after the cancellation request the provider’s server and my VPS (I guess both were in the same box) went down for hours, then I think it was a good decision to dump this company from my provider’s list.

    You are absolutely right.

    Time adjustment would also be necessary for my VPS.

    In the evening hours I often have to experience a lot of lag, just when using ssh to edit scripts.

    The knowledgebase as well as the forum and the announcement links on their web page are leading to nothing in an all-purpose web-hosting template.

    But after all, I don’t even think about sending more tickets.

    It’s a bad hoster, but really cheap – and there is not more to expect from a provider with that name, right?
