5ITE - $5.96 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago or Germany

5ite 5ITE, founded by Andrew and first featured here in October 2010, seems to have quite a few issues in October 2011. It appears that they have been sold, and was having some transitional issues. Earlier this month Nancy, the new 5ITE account manager who also represents Swift Communications (new owner of 5ITE), contacted me regarding to their new LowEndBox offer. So here it is — use coupon code LEB2012 to get 25% off recurring discount on all their VPS plans. “VZ-1” would be $5.96/month after the discount. Sign up link here.

  • 256MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 3TB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers in either Nuremberg Germany or Chicago IL. This is actually worse when you compare it with previous offer given by Andrew, although the ordering link still works on that. They are now a part of a bigger company also means that you might be able to get phone support, and VPS might actually moved to migrated to their own facility in the future. Well, recent review wasn’t so positive. Maybe it’s just the migration pain, but hopefully things will become more stable.

Forget it, this is way too expensive. If this is indeed with Hetzner, the 3TB transfer is not realistic, just see what happens when you actually start using it ;-)

    • Hi Krute, Thank you for your interest in 5ite.com …. however proxies are not allowed on our VPS packages. It’s not in the best interest for our business.

      Sincerely,
      Nancy

I signed up for a monthly recurring subcription yesterday. It took a little over 24 hrs to get the login information, but I think it was an isolated problem. I submitted a ticket and received a response minutes later.

I am fully set up now, and speeds are decent. Using my home connection I can max out downloading from the server at 1.8 megabytes per second.

I hope it’ll be easy to switch my monthly to an annual subscription once I feel safe to do so.

  9. first i asked online support if i could use it as a seedbox in private trackers not public and said that would be ok, then purchased it on Feb 3rd, and now on 11th i am with no vps from 1o’clock (gmt+2) as it shows offline and support is offline too. By the time it went down, support has not responded to my pm’s.

    Just submitted my Cancellation request.

I feel $5.96 is a bit high for the amount of resources given.

I had a bit of a hiccup to start where it took them 24 hours to setup my order due to invoice not being marked.

Other than the above the Node speed was good.
