I am back! Home sweet home now, although it looks like I’ll be busy catching up with work for the next week or two. Caught a night flight last night and here is a tip — try NOT to watch Inception on an overnight long haul flight. I am still struggling with the reality, waking up from my dream holidays 🙂
Anyway. I’ll be spending the next couple of days catching up some Christmas deals as well with low end cheap VPS. Russell from webRulon, who acquired AlienVPS, emailed me about their Christmas special, which can be found on WebhostingTalk. Same 25offlifetime 25% off life-time discount as last time. You can also get 50% off discount on plans that don’t fit with this site so I won’t go there. Also, instead of Phoenix AZ, now AlienVPS is also available in Los Angeles CA. $3.75/month for “UFO 1”. Direct sign up link.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Welcome back 🙂

Welcome back :p
back to home lea. home sweet home
I have ordered a VPS to test out, and I find their servers are giving me lag spikes quite often, can anyone else confirms this?
I can confirm, their servers appear to be on a 10mbit connection (or atleast throttled), the maximum speed I was ever able to get was about 800-900kb/s download speed on a good day.
Also, if you plan on using your vps as a seedbox, you’ll be disappointed because they just put something in place that kills any process with ‘rtorrent’, ‘transmission’ and possibly others seconds after you start it (which is why i’m leaving them).
I can confirm this. It seems some IP transit issue.
Wow, this is getting more and more interesting. Asked for refund on unsatisfactory performance on the server and ticket opened as “HIGH” for more than 24hours.
I suggest no one else should buy their VPS. Service is very poor. Kept avoiding my tickets.
Anyone should suggest what should I do?
This normal. Ticket answering speed are normally very low.
PS. Read TOS. It says no refund.
