Both Brandon and Tim from BitEntity emailed me about their latest VPS hosting business which has VPS packages starting $5.99/month. It comes with
- 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
- 50GB storage
- 2TB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/Custom panel
According to their home page, “Our network operations center is a state of the art facility located in Scranton, PA…”. I guess they meant HostNOC/BurstNet. The same applies to their WHOIS data, which they actually used HostNOC’s address. I am pretty sure they are not a subsidary of Burst, especially when they seem to be from UK. Domain is also registered just 2 months ago. Not to mention SSL is missing from the ordering page (self-signed if you conenct to port 443), and some interesting websites hosted on the same IP.
If it’s me I’ll pass on the offer and wait for at least a year.

The owner pulled some interesting tricks on WHT a week or so ago. He posted a thread in the VPS section asking if ‘anyone had heard of this company’, using a username that was also attached to an email on their ‘contact us’ page.
On top of it, I, and many others, felt the site felt heavily ‘inspired’ by Linode’s design.
Francisco
@Francisco Who pulls a trick like that :P Nice catch on the linode-inspired style
Go to main website, at the bottom-right click submit on the control panel form. This is the error that I get. Is this English? “one can not simply in to vps”
While I do not have anything against custom control panel (Linode has a great custom control panel), I believe, if you don’t have the right resources you should not jump in to reinvent the wheel.
@Asim – It’s a butcher from Lord of the Rings :P
“one does not simply walk into mordor”
Francisco
@Asim – It is English. Its just an access denied message. I shall change it now.
Also, i realise that somebody has posted us on WHT as i signed up yesterday and it seems i got instantly banned.
I am now in contact with them to fix this.
Another host with copy and paste TOS :-)
Can’t wait for someone to actually write a new one that everyone copies!
@Joseph B: I’m actually 75% done with a slightly snarky custom TOS, couched in terms of Commandments:
Thou shalt not be a giant tool.
Thou shalt not host nor link to warez.
Thou shalt not abuse the server nor network.
Thou shalt not spam.
Thou shalt not abuse the staff.
Thou shalt not open support tickets whilst drunk nor stoned.
Thou shlt nt opn sprt tix in txtspk.
ZOMG, thou canst not has lolspeak support tickets, kthxbai.
Thou shalt not host nor link to child pr0n.
etc, etc
Upon the Other Hand:
Thou shalt pay all bills on time.
Thou shalt request cancellation in writing at least four days in advance of your billing due date.
Thou shalt have two clues to rub together.
Thou shalt make regular backups of your own, just in case.
Thou shalt find a Google and learn how to use it.
etc, etc.
I look forward to people with senses of humor copying it. :)
@Mike
I like these:
Thou shalt have two clues to rub together.
Thou shalt make regular backups of your own, just in case.
hehe that’s so awesome :-)
@Mike lol, im copying yours :D
I know I might be a little biased here, because I am one of their customers… But, Seriously the BitEntity staff bends over backwards to help with my website hosting needs. They even walked me through how to install WordPress (I was doing something stupid and it wouldn’t work) in less than an hour after I submitted a trouble ticket. The guys let you control as little or as much as you want. The VPS price is really cheap compared to others with the same HDD space / bandwidth options.
The last company I was with, Fastsh.it was cheap, but not nearly this cheap. Plus they were in Luxemborg, so there was the delay issue with certain things. This is by far the best VPS company I have been a subscriber of.
And about the sock-puppetry, and copied TOS stuff… That really does not bother me at all, I’ve made those mistakes on blogs before. When I saw others get corrected for it, I also stopped. Rookie mistakes (if even true, I’m not sure). These issues have nothing to do with the service itself.
Have seen these guys advertising on some forums I use – They seem to be okay and seem to take a professional approach to their business.
A quick google search….

It also seems like the poster above (Jackk) is registered on their too!
A Habbo forum? Kids, again.
I think people should pass on this. I’ve used a “child” host before without knowing and one day there here, and one day there not!
Also just found this.

Seems like this person isn’t reliable
Seems like they have fun switching what they do.
@Jackk – If you don’t mind me asking why are you registered on a “Habbo” forum.
I take it your a child? Looking at your post’s on that forum you look slightly full of yourself for your age.
Sorry if I come across nasty but I’ve been scammed by two companies ran by “children” which think they know it all.
@Tom – You’ll be glad to know I own no companies, never had and don’t intend to for the future. I wouldn’t want the responsibility and don’t have the time!
Jack.
They have a custom control panel. Would have bought otherwise :)
I often post in the tech forums.
Looks like the website ceases to resolve since 24 September. Did they just do a very-quick death?
MX (Google Apps) and NS records (NameCheap) still exist, no www or A record.
Fail.
A major fail indeed. Their previous IP (184.82.116.28) is still online. Just no website in the virtual host.
LEA. They have moved to a different domain (lovevps.com)
Still kids.
Thanks for the tip. Added that to my tracker :)
lovevps.com looks dead as of 27 October. Same quick death caused by the same scammers?
Hello,
I would just like to inform you that we have now purchased the domain from Tim.
I was the owner of TigerTB.com previously however after selling the company I decided to start up a VPS company.
I can assure you that LoveVPS.com / LoveVPS.co.uk will not die an early death and that LoveVPS and your servers are in safe hands with me.
Thanks
Why was lovevps.com for sale on WHT just now?

Francisco
Maybe he’s continuing with only lovevps.co.uk? Mind you, lovevps.com would be useless to whoever bought it… Something smells fishy.
Then why did he list lovevps.com in his post & list it first?
This smells all sorts of foul.
Francisco
Yes the purchase didn’t exactly go to plan a day after I posted this buyer wanted an increase in price to what was already agreed. So in the end we upped our offer.
so,,, has LoveVps survived?
Seems the main sites on both .com and .uk are down, oddly it coincides with the domain name expirey listed earlier in the wht forums.
Is this the final death of Love VPS?
Erm, yes we are still here:
http://www.lovevps.co.uk
http://www.lovevps.com
Our domain registrar forgot to renew our domain despite the fact we paid them.
Hello,
Updates Blog:

Thanks
Matthew
If you bothered to read the threads from the WHT forums, you would find out exactly what happened.

Hello,
We have renewed it and this is all down to the people at Tech-Hosts.co.uk
We are currently working with them on this issue.

We where unable to transfer the domain name away from them, and now they are not renewing for us.

LoveVPS.co.uk was registered in January. I went through a lot of trouble in the first place to get the LoveVPS.com domain name and a considerable amount of money for the LoveVPS.com domain name, only to find they wouldn’t allow me to transfer it.
The LoveVPS.co.uk was registered by me in January as we plan on launching our UK VPS Services within the next few months. We did email all our customers about this, and we are still working on it. But I just drafted it in for yesterday as a temporary website address.
Thanks for confirming the services run fine. Sadly at the present time, its not us that is taking the time. Its Tech-Hosts.co.uk who are taking the time.
