As discussed on LowEndTalk, community favorite BuyVM has decided to pause new signups for BuyShared, its shared-hosting brand for 2021. According to @Francisco (BuyVM’s owner), they are focusing on the VM hosting side of the house.
BuyShared is still in operation, upgrades/downgrades are possible, and they are providing full support, so if you’re a happy BuyShared user today, you can continue to be a happy BuyShared user tomorrow. If you’re not a BuyShared user, you’re unlikely to become one in the near future.
@Francisco stated the reason for the change is the high support load that shared hosting generates. This makes sense – your average VM customer is more sophisticated and self-supporting. If a VM customer runs into an issue with his web server, he’s more likely to search for an answer, ask on forums, query StackExchange, or simply troubleshoot the issue. While some shared hosting customers are pros – people who just want someone else to deal with the hassle of configuring web services, particularly if they have many users – many more shared hosters are less technical folk who have little understanding beyond the basics of cPanel. When they load up a couple dozen WordPress plugins or copy/paste instructions they’ve read on the Internet, generating tickets asking why their site is slow or has stopped working quickly eats into thin margins.
The good news is that judging by @Francisco’s comments, BuyVM intends to innovate. They’ve been a leader in bringing bigger cloud features to the lowend market, all riding on their in-house panel (Stallion).
Kudos to BuyVM for doing this the right way – simply making BuyShared products out of stock but continuing to support their users. We’re looking forward to seeing what BuyVM has in store for 2021 – and look for a more in-depth review of their services here on LowEndBox later this month!

few times you get clients which are not just worth the effort. Recently I got a client on shared hosting who started to abuse us from the very first day and his card was being declined by 2co. We tried hard to make that work but in the end it was better to let him go.
Hope it can get back again.
