Fionn from Byte Bistro emailed me to have their service listed on LowEndBox.com. Their Xen VPS plans start at $3.95/month for 256MB “Appetizer” instance, or $6.95/month for “Main Entree” that comes with
- 512MB memory/512MB swap
- 25GB storage
- 500GB/month data transfer at 100Mbps
- Xen/SolusVM
Servers with OVH in France. They are only accepting PayPal at the moment. 2 year old domain registered by Michael in California, and I believe Fionn “Fike” is Ireland based. Non-redundant name servers. If you checked their tweets, they have actually stopped offering shared hosting service, and relaunched a few days ago as a Xen service provider (see Fike’s post here).

IPv6? Own IPv4 from what country?
Hi Spo0lsh
We do offer IPv6 addresses on request – you would simply open a support ticket and we could get as many IPv6’s assigned to your VPS as you would like.
James,
Byte Bistro
The offer looks nice, I wonder how I missed this one :)
Can you post a test IPv6 address?
Out of Stock. Nice!
Blacky,
We’re currently in the process of setting up a second node to fulfill the high demand of VPSes we’ve received. We’ll keep you guys updated here, as well as on our Twitter account, for availability. Thanks for your interest in Byte Bistro!

Byte Bistro
Hello,
Now I waiting for IPv6
And I got it :)
IPv6 are from OVH IPv6 class: 2001:41d0::/32
Thanks, got my VPS just 10 mins after I pay. Very fast.
Lets see how it runs!
their technical support is very fast and friendly :)
Nice offer however bad DC location. OVH take ages for hardware replacements.
They serve so quickly my order of Xen VPS. But the server of my node has a little problem with CentOS templates. Even I install 32bit CentOS 5.6 it goes setup 64bit CentOS 5.6. I had let them known and have to wait 24hr. :(
CentOS 5.6 32bit will not play nicely on a 64bit node, probably why you get 64bit not 32bit.
We’ve fixed the issues, and given clients who experienced them 15% off of their next invoice. Thank you for your patience!

Byte Bistro
That’s not true at all. You have PyGrub to run CentOS 32 bit kernel.
We’re now using PyGrub, which in turn fixed the issues, which means my statement is true: we fixed the issues.
Fionn Kelleher,
Byte Bistro
Dear Sirs,
This is it just a warning for who need a secure hosting, secure support, and trust-able people!
We Just Hacked before 2 days through bytebistro.com technicale support, and that happen when the technical support of this website had give someone (cracker) a permission to access our account
after he deal with him to pay more than $1500 to have the password of our SoluVM reset to his email as we have a screen shoot picture ( we will provide it as per your request ),
The cracker who hacked our server does not have any access to our emails or have our password to access the control panel, otherwise he would of course had access to more than 200 servers and
hundreds of domains we are asking other companies or anyone who need a secure to get out of them, and block this type of bytebistro.com who don’t have a mean of a secure hosting or trust-able people.
Kind Regards.
Firas,
Our technical support team was not paid off to grant a third party access to your virtual private server. We’ve already discussed this over the phone, as well as through emails/support tickets. I encourage you to submit evidence backing your claim against Byte Bistro, as it currently holds absolutely no truth whatsoever.
Additionally, I’d like to provide readers with a log of a few support tickets between our staff and Firas:
http://pastie.org/pastes/2436265/text?key=xnc9faujh3ojbnejtcq
We have yet to receive any form of proof from this client that backs his accusations against us; therefore, his/her comment is considered slanderous.
I’m open to discussing this matter in greater detail if the client is willing to provide evidence, as we requested a copy of his/her investigation, but have yet to receive it.

Dude,
accused in this attack… am not looking for getting back my money! am looking to show people here that your technical support was involved with this attacker after he pay you a money.
and please accept my apologize for the last ticket, i think the one who grant the attack the permission to access our account deserve it.
am not going back to discuss this with you here or anywhere, am just pasting my review in all over the net to warning people from you.
please don’t lie and say we discuss this by the phone, you just call me before a hour and we don’t want to answer you.
—
VMPort,
I have used and work with more than 6 company and this guy one of them with in 9 years.
I think my mistake is to trust a cheap vps from starter company as i see the domain registration of them:
Updated Date: 01-aug-2011
Creation Date: 16-jul-2009
Expiration Date: 16-jul-2012
—
If am posting this in LEB and here that because am member there and here since 2004, as my registration show that am join at 2008 but i use to have other account here before i forget the password of it.
so always before i take any vps i look for the company review, and this guy i didn’t because it was so cheap to google about it.
Firas,
Again, please explain your reasoning behind our support staff being paid to grant an unauthorized party access to your server. Anybody can make a false claim like this; therefore, your statements are not valid, as I’ve told you before.
Regarding our phone conversation, I have a call log in Skype with your phone number, thus proving that we did discuss this matter over the phone. If you wish, I’d be glad to provide you transcripts of our call.

Michael Goss
i did told you by the phone that you and the attack are responsible in this attack.
Anyway am not your customer anymore, and your company is not TRUSTED!!! for me as i wish everyone to learn from me.
Don’t ask again the same question man!
You get hacked and you blame hosting company for this? You are an idiot.
What? The $1500 paid for a password wasn’t a clue? Most I ever got bribed for a password was 50 bucks. I must be working for the wrong company. :)
Looks like his thread on WHT got closed after I explained to them his false claims.
Hi. Can I sign up for more then one extra ip, I need two (extra) for dns ?
Thank you
Definitely! Simply open a support ticket after placing your order, and we’ll be glad to route an additional IPv4 to your VPS.
Thanks!
I have also ordered extra IP and it has been taken 24hr. I hope to get quickly.
This is the first time I’ve purchased a VPS and not found myself regretting it after the first month. I definitely recommend Byte Bistro.
If I could wish for one thing, it would the the ability to upgrade my HDD space. Aside from that — for me — they’re perfect. :)
Nice prices. First month I was really enjoy this VPS, but in september… Their servers seems to be down about 40% of time – no access to control panel, bytebistro website and ssh. Also, sites at VPS are down too. What’s happened?
My server now in bad condition too. Same to you I god service in first month. I have submitted some support ticket 2 days ago but no reply.
And here we go, another provider that forgot his business… (intentionally, or not).
We’re aware of the issues, and are currently composing a mass email apologizing, as well as explaining our plan of action to remedy the situation. We do appreciate your patience, and we will be providing discounts on next month’s invoices for the downtime.
I also ordered from them ,3 days ago and I still havent got access to my server. They even sent me a wrong IP , the IP my server is suppossed to have is already used by someone else! They also dont answer to my support tickets! Whats wrong with you guys? How in the world are you going to justify this? If I was using your server as a production server I would be in HUGE trouble right now.
Now my server is gone. ALL DATA on server is lost. What is happening? No notification or any alert received. I NEED RECOVERY DATA OF MY SERVER and need respond that situation to us.
lrn2backup :)
Also their website is down from here (kinda resolves and connects, but shows just a blank page)
Works for me.
Their website is certainly up for me.
@Yaung — when you said “my server is gone”, do you mean that it is off-line/unreachable, or do you mean that it is completely removed from your WHMCS/SolusVM logins?
I can log-in to SolusVM. But status is show offline even my server is up. Can’t boot or restart. you can see my server here 46.105.246.41. I can’t SSH login. It is look like completely fresh VPS.
My VPS also vanished a little over a day ago now (so much for 24 hour support, eh). Every hosted server responds with what I assume is their host node’s Apache default page. Support and Twitter, including the feeds of self-proclaimed staff, are dead.
If there are real problems and you guys haven’t simply run off to a tropical island with my money, just a short message would do.
i got an email from them a few minutes ago
Dear Glenn,
We are very sorry about the issues that have came upon anyone. It has been a very rough week. Please accept our apologies. For those on Tempesta, we have experienced a issue with the node, and it is currently offline. We plan on transferring all clients that were affected to a different node. We would like to provide you with a generous discount on next month’s bill for all the problems. Again we are deeply sorry.
Thank you for your understanding,
Byte Bistro
Yes, Me too but no description about how long they could take.
Also there is no description about user data are safe or not.
Finally, all of my data have been lost. They can say not more than sorry instated of detail explaining. I can login to my server with SSH until last minutes before they shut-down even SolusVM is lose control. If they make a warning before action I can make my own backup. But now they make it their self without any responsible.
Their reply. They hide their fault. They are not trust-able persons.
Hello Yaung,
The node you were one went offline and the data was erased by datacenter issue and it is their fault. We transfered you to working node. We do not have any of your old data. We will be discounting your VPS greatly next month because of this, but your VPS is fully operational currently. We are setting up at a better datacenter because of this and the network issues some customers have faced this month. We are just as upset as you are about this node, you are not alone.
I have got such e-mail too, but still sites are offline in the evening. I wonder when they will fix this problem, because I can’t create any projects with them – they will fail, because of uptime.
OVH Terminated them for finding DoS Scripts on Client’s VPS’s probably :).
OVH is really good at getting rid of such abusive clients in their system, I wouldn’t be surprised either.
Gets annoying if its a client/s though cant stop it really.
Sounds to me like it’s just the people on the one node that are experiences issues. My VPS still works perfectly.
It looks like they disappeared and took my VPS with them – even their website has been down for a couple days. Apparently OVH took down their nodes.
Well, there was notification in Twitter, that OVH took their nodes down. Can you explain how it will affect my VPS? I have backup, but it is quite old and I want to retrieve server configuration. Or is it lost forever and I must look for new provider?
They now say they’re closing down for good. Since their nodes were taken down, I doubt any data can be restored.
Deadpool for October it seems.
To our former clients,
We’re sorry for the lack of notification about what has happened. Unfortunately, Byte Bistro was overall an unsuccessful project for many reasons:
* Lack of staff: One of our weakest points was our staff. Although we answered most tickets in a 24-hour time frame, we were always overloaded with support tickets and requests, and we didn’t have enough staff to handle each one efficiently.
* More to the point… too many clients. Before we got listed here on LEB, we were able to manage tickets and maintain our servers with little/no hassle, however after getting listed here, business was getting more hectic every day, and maintaining our clients services and servers became harder and tougher due to the limited amount of staff we had on our team. We are in no means “slagging” off or blaming LEB for the increase of clients; this was ultimately our fault. In other terms, we dived in too deep too fast.
* Our datacenter: We picked OVH as our datacenter because of the value for money (we were starting up, after all), and at the time of purchase/setup, we were impressed with the speeds and our node’s high-performance specification. It wasn’t only us that were impressed; our clients had sent us many emails praising their VPS’s high performance and uptime. People were running web servers, game servers (Minecraft for example), IRC daemons/BNCs/bots and much more with no interruptions, lag or downtime whatsoever. Everything looked excellent until the last few weeks of Byte Bistro’s existence, when things started to go downhill. One of our nodes was down for a considerable amount of time due to a fried router. I believe this caused a few days of downtime, however OVH replaced the damaged hardware eventually. After that, one of our nodes, “Tempesta”, was disconnected and immaturely formatted/wiped by OVH staff at the datacentre. Their reason was “failure to pay for an invoice”. We never received any invoice what so ever for our node, we checked our inboxes and the OVH control panel to make sure. All data on Tempesta was, unfortunately, lost. We were furious, as you would expect us to be. We were upfront with our clients and sent out a global email explaining the situation and what was going to happen. We purchased our new nodes at Hetzner, which is one of the best providers of dedicated servers in Germany, and our new nodes were set up. After a few days of setting up Xen and securing our network’s infrastructure at Hetzner, we found out that our other nodes at OVH were taken down. We were not informed by OVH, and we weren’t exactly sure about how to handle the situation. After all the hassle we had with OVH, we decided it would be best to disband Byte Bistro. We informed our clients of the situation, perhaps not as in depth as what I have explained, and closed up shop – for good.
To those who said our nodes got shut down due to denial of service scripts – this is impossible, as our sophisticated system alerted us when any attacks from our servers/networks were detected. Our staff have a clean record, and have not been involved with any attacks from our network. It is unlikely that a client caused OVH to take our nodes down as we would have either been alerted by our own, internal systems (as explained above), or given a warning from OVH.
It’s impossible for me to stress how sorry I and the rest of the team are; I myself have been through a similar situation with another provider: data loss, insecurity etc., however we never planned this to happen to us. We were very sure that everything would work out, but in the few months of our existence, reality proved us wrong.
ADVICE TO CLIENTS
If you are going to purchase a new VPS, shared web hosting package or a dedicated server, I advise you research them well before you buy. I am in no way saying that Byte Bistro were aware of any of the issues that affected our business (it’s impossible that we would have known about any issues), however I suggest you purchase your server from a known, experienced hosting provider that have been around for a good few years.
Sincere apologies,
Fionn

Interesting. But why you didn’t hired more staff? Even here there are some people that want to help their providers. Well, good luck with the future projects
Are you honestly sure about that router comment? OVH is slow as hell for tickets about a server, but their network is always reliable and they wouldn’t just leave a router offline for days on end. Honestly, it sounds more like you had a billing dispute with them for that ‘router’ issue and they simply nulled your subnets/box at their router/switch.
I had boxes with OVH back in the day and they invoiced us just fine with time to spare (granted I used a credit card).
Francisco
OVH sent us a maintenance notification about the router issue, and it took them a little while to get it replaced. They didn’t null our subnets or node at the router, our server was up and running with no issues and no complaints from OVH.
That’s a good point for “go with your own hardware” – at worse you will have to change of datacenter & your customers will have new IPs, if you don’t have your own /24…
OVH are terrible, they did the same thing to me and I luckily recovered it as it wasn’t a huge loss. They terminate contracts and force-reinstall servers at the touch of a feather, they’re a corporate BS company and the techs don’t understand a thing. Can’t recommend them to anyone.
There stuff are so noobs as i would like from everyone to search for my comments here regard a bad review from them, they just accept a money from crackers to reset our server data to them, and after-that they advising us to check if we have a key-logger or virus, but anyway am so happy to see your company down Fionn to didn’t accept more money from crackers.
