LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

ChicagoVPS - $3.45 256MB OpenVZ VPS

ChicagoVPS One problem with having Christmas and New Year so close together is providers might come up with a better New Year offer, right after you get sucked in with their Christmas deal! It happened with DynamoVPS, where they dropped their $60/year special to $36/year. So is ChicagoVPS, where Chris just told me about their “Lowest Price Ever” sale. These apply to only their OpenVZ plans.

  • VPS — Starter (Sign up link)
  • 256MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • $3.45/month (with promo code LPEstarter), or
    $35/year (with promo code LPEstarteryear
  • VPS — Standard (Sign up link)
  • 512MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • $4.95/month (with promo code LPEstandard), or
    $50.00/year (with promo code LPEstandardyear

Nice price drop. Do note that according to Chris, “Lowest Price Ever” actually happens once a year rather than “ever and forever” — so don’t be too upset if you miss this one :) They are in some sense affiliated with Colocrossing and Velocity Servers, although the business itself has only been around since early this year. Chicago servers (just in case people couldn’t figure that out from their name).

I have a Xen VPS, can I switch it over to OpenVZ to take advantage of this?

    December 31, 2010 @ 3:47 am
  3. @JC,

You would have to re-sign up and cancel your old Xen VPS. We can not just move you over, because then all of our clients would want to do the same.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Ordered ‘standard’ package.
I think this is the first time I’m actually happy to run yum update on a fresh VPS, it updated faster than I managed to type this.

Good to hear the speed of both our network and the VPS served you well.
