is it windows server 2008 R2 only- no option for windows server 2012?
Sagar,
We will have Windows 2012 available next week.
Thanks
Chris
I still don’t see Windows 2012.
can you not just perform a simple upgrade on your existing Windows server 2008 R2 vps? it’s very easy
I do not recommend this company, it has support to legs
they have been sent to the abyss to hudson
a good supplier have become a chicagovps more than poor quality
I believe they will still be better than BlueVM who are sitting on my qty 5 VPSs both KVM and openVZ (different hosts) down for 2 months and they had data loss and still down. They are blaming on their previous admin but I cant believe they still cannot bring those VPS up blank- no updates to the tickets!. payments system is working and they keep charging my paypal. I guess they are shutting their business down(because only then you dont car about numerous 15 tickets that I opened in past two months-none resolved, none updated. so I am looking for another cheap and affordable provider for my testing.
Milan is the only good support of good chicagovps in the same way that Chris
Hudson I spoke with 7 different stands and all were good
they responded in 20 seconds
on the other hand you can compare BlueVM with Chicagovps the difference is huge
[BlueVM compares with (serverhub, evoBurst) low quality servers]
Avoid this company. I have had poor experiences with both of Chris Fabozzi’s services: ChicagoVPS and 123Systems.
No refunds policy, outsourced support, frequent downtime, crowded and abused servers – Just do yourself a favor and avoid.
I agree with you about 123systems..
But 123systems is a fine bet, if you have some sort of addiction towards adding more and more LEB VPS’s to your forever expanding inventory.
123systems are cheap and doesn’t give you any functionality or other value. Quite easy to handle since they don’t work. So you don’t waste time waiting for commands to complete.
I like to be a part of 123systems history as a customer. Sometimes I even open a ticket to say hello to whatever thing that connects with me at the other side. Always friendly and robotic. Always there for me even tho the answers tend to look like the previous.
I will say avoid company ,they dont have licensed copy of windows vps ,not good support
Avoid at all costs. Support is dreadful, I foolishly raised a support ticket , the “technical person” uninstalled everything! Another time, they just wiped my vps. Tech support is worse than non existent, they actively break thinks if you raise tickets. If you want to waste money, they are the best!
Almost as bad as EvoBurst
I like chicagovps
Woah !!
I open the page thinking thats a steal..!
But after i read the comments, what a butt load of crap.
Hmm.. i’d rather stay on with my current VPS till another good offer comes up in LEB.
~LH
as the name of your current server?
so poor server in ChicagoVPS,bad support.don’t solve the problem and just close ticket!
I can only advise against ChicagoVPS. Only ChicagoVPS was worse but the Ertatten the money after all. In ChicagoVPS to get his money back is a fight!
Sorry for my bad English.
Sry,… “Only BlueVM was worse …” not ChicagoVPS :)
In fairness, I do not have any direct experience with ChicagoVPS as a customer. Nonetheless, I have read many threads and comments posted by ChicagoVPS customers. Before you sign up with ChicagoVPS, I strongly recommend that you perform a web search for reviews and commentary regarding ChicagoVPS’ service.
I have had a couple VPSs with them. One on openvz and the other on KVM. My openvz experience was decent. Very few issues. The KVM VM however I have had some problems with. I am currently shopping around for another VPS company.
The main issue that I have had is intermittent connectivity at times and just general slowness.
I got one of their deals last year — the price was great… I just wanted a small server for my daughter… We weren’t able to use it as the connection kept closing every minute or so… Apparently from support it is because there were people abusing the service… This went on for a month or so, and then we moved on… Do you research before wasting your money…
provide 2 GB of RAM and 100 GB HD please?
I dont think ChicagoVPS is very bad at all. I have used their VPS for years until now. Even im using their service for my Name Server service. Their uptime is good (if you were on a stable node lol).
For the price, you can go with ChicagoVPS, but they are not managed service. So dont expect they will help you with your weirdo requests.
Some of users might experience some intermittent issue at times. Just raise a ticket and request for migration to another node. That’s what I did.
And ones more, check your IP first after your vps deployed whether its blacklisted by the RBL host or not. That’s all =D
Overall, I would like to say this host is good for private use and community use.
I wish I had seen all discussion here and only throw several $ for one month try.
I now was stucked with windows VPS setup and the delivered VPS has too slow IO speed (0.x-4MBPS) making it unuseful. I wish chicagovps can fix the issue or refund me, at least allow me to use the returned credit for my linux VPS where I had great experience.
update:
not sure what was changed but now the speed is OK/good.
I think we should be patient to a provider for affordable VPS such as chicagovps. When there’re a lot request coming at the same time they may screw it for a while.
15 GB space occupies the folder winsxs
1558 hrs, 8 mins uptime 100%
very good chicagovps :)
Ordered Win VPS 12 hours ago. Still pending setup. Opened Ticket but nobody response. This kind of service is worrying!
I just ordered and paid for a Windows VPS, it has been hours and still pending. How long do you wait for yours sir?
I oreded a windows vps in April 28 but i couldnt connect the vps,i open a ticked and they told me that it was fixed today but i could not connect again.I asked for refund.
It is a shit company.Bough a vps and cant connect 4 days before, still waiting for support to fix it.I asked for refund they told me wait.
Will you able to do windows server 2003, instead of server 2012? I can provide license and iso for my self. I am planning to make it a VPN server. let me know soon.
Here we go again. Every month ALL MY cpanel licenses expire on ChicagoVPS and the only way I get this resolved is to post all over the place until they actually respond and fix it. Yes, I’ve done the verify and sync and also the cpanel cpkeyclt command. Nothing seems to really get through to these guys unless you bitch and complain. This is my last time you’ll hear from me here since I’m cancelling all my VPS’s with this place and headed elsewhere.
Also if you ever sign up with this place be prepared to get DDOS attacked and login attempts all through out the day/night. Firewall, changing ports, you have to really protect your VPS with this place. Instead of dealing with it I actually had to block entire countries because it was so bad. Yea, I do not recommend it here. Sorry but be aware before you spend money. It is very apparent they oversell their servers since they don’t care about my services.
0 stars with this place.
This company in three days downed my vps for no reason, and now it seams that somebody deleted my VPS.
Even the IP is now beeing used for another VPS.
I WAS NOT informed of this, and had no warning. This is no way to treat paying customers.
Up until now I was satisfied with ChicagoVPS, but now, after 113hrs of downtime I’m looking for something else. When it’s up, it’s good, but they don’t seem to have monitoring on their VMs to know of prblems when they arise, and when they are informed of problems by their customers, they don’t seem to know what to do. Or they don’t have the resources to do it. Either way, I can’t afford to be down a whole week at a time, I’m taking my business elsewhere
Do these cheap Windows VPS services require you supply your own Windows Server licensing?
I was a client of ChicagoVPS with more than two years. Previously, the vps was in uniquegeek, then it moved here. Yes, there were downtimes, sometimes for a long time (hours) but overall, it was stable. And now look what I’ve got: one day, a few days ago vps is down. Then they rebooted it after tickets.
The next day, the situation repeated. From now on I will never be able to connect to your server. It did not exist. He was not there, they “could not find it”.
On the server, that worked fast, I had about 30 mini-sites. Which brings me to the income (about $300 per month). Now there are gone.
Yes, I know about backups, but I just moved to another city, and all the data on the old PC in another city.
Just imagine: there was a server and have the sites, now they are gone. Completely. It is much ruined my life.
Server costs $5/monthly, but I it was good. Was.
Here you can see tickets screen: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CF2TFAhUsAA64Mt.png:large
p.s. Sorry for my English.
Don’t ever use them for live sites.
i’ve been very happy with chicagovps since i signed up 3yr ago…
but now… i lost the “Add Fund” menu in my billing client and no vps order anymore, except domain order/renewal
Could it happen that this company might soon be closed for business, OMG
Hello Chris, it seem your network for my vps is down now
was fine apart from laggy server i had been given. now it’s turned off and i don’t think support even properly reads my tickets. support and performance was great 2 years ago, it’s complete shyte now. I have 2 vps with them, i have more or less recent backup, i think i will cancel my services with them because this is unacceptable.
still down, i don’t think their staff knows what they do.
Due to bad real ability and support I use Chicago only as a backup server.
But past 10 days even that doesn’t work.
The server is down, I cannot log in to client area, cannot reset password since it can’t detect user name…
Writing them but they are like retards resetting password and closing tickets while I still can’t log in to boot the server.
I also dont recommend Chicago VPS, SSD performance for them is <10mb/s. A $2 USB thumb-drive is faster. Windows update took 5 hours today! seriously!
Terribe service, could never connect to the 2GB VPS I gave the 3 chances to fix the problem and they blew them all. AVOID these timewasters at all costs.
I will never use this ChicagoVPS again. Terrible service and supper slow VPS. This is probably the worst I have ever encountered so far. I am surprised how can they still operational. With this kind of service they should be out of business by now.
