More offers inside.

Abdullah and Emil celebrated the third anniversary of HostHatch earlier this year with the addition of Los Angeles and Stockholm, as well as an overhaul of their product line. HostHatch is a registered company in Tampa, Florida, USA. They are known for their owned hardware and transparency about it. You can find some pictures of their hardware on their Facebook page. Like noted before, HostHatch has invested heavily in new hardware, which allows them to offer more resources for the same price as before. They’ve also started offering DDoS-protected IPs in the Netherlands and Los Angeles (USA), with protection up to 20Gbps/8M PPS. Their new nodes are equipped with Intel E5-1650v2 CPU, at least 64GB DDR3 RAM, and the new LSI SAS3 RAID controllers. Servers are backed up weekly. All offers also come with one free Comodo SSL certificate per IP address. Reviews of HostHatch are quite positive and I myself have had nothing but good experiences with them. Feel free to share your experiences with them here in the comments!

VZ-SSD #2

KVM-Storage #0

KVM-Storage #2

HostHatch accepts PayPal and Credit Cards (through Stripe). They also accept Bank Transfers on request. Refunds are provided within the first 7 days on the basis that there is a fault on their side (so not for personal reasons or otherwise). Additional IPv4 are $2 each per month and additional IPv6 can be added for free on request. From a look at their ToS: basically, they do not allow anything illegal, or anything that attracts DDoS attacks. Why do you use vpn at the first place? Hiding your location? Maxmind will compare your address with your vpn IP, if it’s not match, then your order will be flagged as fraud/malicious.

After two days of having a server with them, and before I even set anything up on it, my server was ‘hacked’. I received an email it was using to much processing and it would be reset. I’ve owned many servers and for this to happen it had to be the owners, the only people who knew the password to it (was not a simple password). I’m paying for convenience not inconvenience. Someone saw it wasn’t being used and took advantage. If it wasn’t them that’s unfortunate because I will forever think it was.

        • “Anon”,

I really wish I could say “I understand and will look into this for you” but I really am not sure what to say, because this does not make any sense to me. Why would we, the owners, run anything on your server? We have quite a lot of spare capacity, why would we specifically use your server and then suspend it?

I hope you can at least provide me with a ticket ID so I can look this up?

          December 13, 2014 @ 7:02 am | Reply
  11. David:

Non simple password won’t help you to be hacked. Not updated system is vulnerable. If you had SSH on port 22, be sure – all things are possible and sometimes it happens. I had few hundreds VPS (as it’s my hobby) – and had few successful attacks on my servers. Blaming on provider is nonsense (unless they are keeping updated vz, kernel, solus, etc.).

No problems here. Grabbed a similar deal with them back in April? Since then the only downtime we had was a couple of hours for something on their end and then when they shutdown our server for too many resources being used (runaway Minecraft runtime on our end from the 1.8 release) which was resolved in less than a day.

Bought one just yesterday with them, and so far I’m very impressed with the performance. Only thing I had was when I first signed up; I didn’t get the extra core and 512Mb of RAM so I opened a support ticket late Saturday night and the next morning I had it with no other issues. At the price, especially with this deal, you can’t beat it.

  19. I just bought the special above. It has a $5/month (cheapest KVM).
The payment went through fine via paypal, but then going into vps.hosthatch.com to install centOS 7, I was unable to ping nor ssh login via root to the
IP address provided by them. I used the same interface to reboot and reconfigure networking too. Still not able to log in via root.

Can someone provide me with details that I am missing or anything that should be done? I am hoping that this is a legitimate service.
Don’t want to be buying an VPS (KVM) that does not have a legitimate IP address at the other end.

Their provisioning must not be automatic. I bought aVPS from them on Dec 22 and it still hasn’t been provisioned. I also opened a ticket, but there has been no response (maybe due to the holiday?). If I don’t have a server by the end of the month I’m going to dispute with PayPal.

Apparently if you use PayPal to pay you have to use a bank account. Guess I’ll go elsewhere.

Your account had an extremely high fraud rating by Maxmind. On top of that, your Paypal account was 1 month old and unverified. I am sure you can imagine how it looks like for us. Sorry it did not work out.

Our provisioning is automatic and we are working in the Christmas holidays.

Hi there, big wall of text (rant):

I tried to order a VM from hosthatch, as the offers look really cool, but … I don’t know, those guys are really paranoid, don’t ask me about what exactly – I don’t know. After running into the same issues as a previous speaker about the telephone number being in the wrong format (hint: it has to be like 00491239876543), the password being not strong enough and the form forgetting what I entered before, when I finally reached the checkout, it said my order was considered fraudulous. I opened a ticket about that, which was answered after ~20hrs, and only after I made my third comment in it. The fraud issue, so I was told, came up because I submitted the order through a VPN/Proxy, which is true, but strange. So I tried a new order, like I was told to do, this time from my work PC. That order was also consodered fraud, don’t know why this time, but the supporter Mike W. came back, questioning me about if xy was really my ISP and which package from the ISP I was using and what the URL to the product package at the ISP’s was. I told him that it’s none of his business who my ISP is. Answer yet to come. What are they thinking, that someone is intercepting ALL of my internet traffic to get access to the VM I am about to order?

    • Peter:

reply received, basically: I am the malicious user. Obviously giving them my address details phone number and email address is not sufficient.

      quote:
      >>>
Our system feels that you are hiding your real IP address by using a VPN or a proxy, this is something hackers or users with malicious intent usually do. This is why your order is being caught up by Maxmind.

I am sorry if you feel this is none of our business. I wish you the best with another hosting provider.
      <<<

If customers MUST come from a "consumer" IP range they should state so. Or block the entire process before starting it. What a hassle. :(

      January 23, 2015 @ 9:41 am | Reply
      • Peter, I reviewed your account. At first, your order came through a VPN. We asked you to turn it off and order again. Your order came through another VPN hosted at 1&1 Internet, which itself is a hosting provider. This detection was made by Maxmind.

According to you, it was your own ISP and not a VPN, which is why we asked what ISP you are using and if you could give us the link to their official website so we can verify. Your answer was that it is none of our business.

At this point, we asked you to go with another provider. We obviously do not want to lose real customers like yourself but at the same time we need to protect ourselves from the malicious users that sign up daily with us and most of them use a proxy or a VPN while placing the order.

          Hey Abdullah,

as Peter mentioned a german landline prefix in his first comment, I’ve to tell you that *1&1 Internet AG* is a big ISP in Germany which sell DSL-Lines, this is their biggest business in germany and not the server part: http://dsl.1und1.de/?linkId=hd.subnav.dslflatrates-uebersicht

So I don’t think he was using a VPN ;)

Tried signing up several times, but every time the website returns with a message saying I forgot to enter something (while it’s certainly there). What’s worse, when it returns with the previous fields entered shown in gray, the password is in plain text. And what happens next, is that the site again returns now saying I forgot everything except the one thing I entered again from the first time.

This does not come across as very trustworthy to me. Not signing up.

  29. SCAM from HostHatch! They STEAL MY MONEY after pre-payment for 6 months!

I deposited in Advance to my HostHatch account a 6 month pre-payment, incl. the cPanel option, so that when the invoice arrives, my websites and service won’t be interrupted.
HostHatch, by mistake, suspended my account because no invoice was generated.
I contacted them, they apologised and re-activate my account, BUT now all my websites were not working, my DNS was not resolving as it was before.
I asked them politely either fix or refund me because I don’t know how to fix deal with it.
They said I should pay another company that they recommend to fix it for me, because for this price they only provide hardware, not support.
Since it’s been less than 7 days from my payment/billing cycle, I asked them for a refund. On top of that they never wish to help, like most other hosting providers do. I pay 30$ per month for a VPS including a cPanel (a 6 month pre-payment), I believe at least I should get some support, especially when the problem started after they, by mistake, suspended my account after which all my sites don’t work!
I Canceled my service for which I prepaid through my Control Panel, so they know that I am not using it since I am asking for a refund in which they replied: “Submitting a cancellation request is not the channel to request for a refund, this is your choice to cancel your service immediately (early) or at the end of the billing period (the end).”
So now I prepaid for 6 months then canceled after few days and they keep all my money. Do you guys believe is right to treat your customers this way? Any Recommendation guys you can give me or to them regarding this situation?
