For those interested, their WHOIS information is public. HostMyBytes supports payment through PayPal, Credit Cards and Bitcoin. • Hi Zhang! I see that this is an affiliate payout request, which are automatically scheduled to reopen for processing following the end of a fiscal quarter (January, April, July, October). In order to make it simpler for accounting and easier to understand for everyone, we process affiliate payouts in batches, four times per year, at the end of each fiscal quarter. Please note that this structure and schedule was also made aware to you prior for you signing up to our Affiliate Program.

Thanks so much and we’ll be in touch!

Hi there, can you take a look at ticket # 228309? I ordered an instance after seeing the ad on LEB and ran into an error with openvpn. The support ticket was initially opened on 7/4 at 10pm. There was a simple acknowledgement almost 48 hours later (compared to the promise of 60 minute response on support tickets). In addition, the ticket was closed several days later without any additional response beyond that.

What happened? Is this the norm?

So far so good! Seems very speedy, good performance.

  6. Be careful of this business, there is a possibility of running. It has already begun to default on Affiliate Withdrawal, and the general business is closing.

    June 26, 2018 @ 8:43 pm | Reply
    • We have been in business for well over four years and have no plans on going anywhere! Web hosting is all that we do, so we are definitely not going to be “closing.” Also, if we were closing, I don’t think we would have expanded to start offering SSD VPS specials here :)

As far as our Affiliate Payouts, payouts will occur on the 15th of the month following the end of a fiscal quarter (January, April, July, October). In order to make it simpler for accounting and easier to understand for everyone, we process them in batches, four times per year, at the end of each fiscal quarter. Please note that this structure and schedule was also made aware to you prior for you signing up to our Affiliate Program.

Order their service at beginning of June, VPS Pool 4GB – Create 5 VPS, Service is very spotty and about once a week the node is unreachable, at these times their control panel wont even load, it gives a gateway timeout. IMHO they oversell nodes and have poor load monitoring and balancing. Support is very slow and only states what is wrong not a solution to the issue. Stated by them that low end services are not a priority and 24-48 hrs is normal response time. Asked for refund and was told no refunds on special offers.
When the service is unreachable it last 12-48 hours till it is reachable again. No way I can use this service to host customers, even small low load sites and ruin my reputation with services that are unreliable. I use it now as a daily backup of my other servers, if it misses a day its not critical hopefully.
If you are looking for a service that offers consistent up-time look elsewhere, hostmybytes isnt for you.

    Some questions:
    1. Recurrent deal?
    2. Here you wrote about 30-day refund for the new customers. In your TOS 3-day refund and ‘Special promotions packages are not guaranteed to be eligible for refunds’ is specified. So which one is it?
    3. TUN/TAP?

Got a ticket number I can pull up (if it wasn’t already resolved)? I can get SpeedStep entirely disabled on the node if you want, but it’ll definitely scale up the frequency automatically if ever needed.

HMB is a decent host. Sure they are not perfect but for the price guys, you just can’t beat it.. Matter of fact these SSD servers perform better and faster than my $10/mo instances with Linode. Have reasonable expectations guys and remember what you are paying, and don’t expect the world for your $1/month from here, or any other provider from LOWENDbox. If you are looking for an unmanaged VPS and you know your way around Linux and do not expect hand-holding technical support, I do not see any reason why you would not have a good experience at HMB, as I’ve had. Just my 2 cents!

I had a really bad experience with these guys. My 100Gb storage was only giving me about 25Gb, and they couldn’t fix it, so they had to move me to a new node. The new node was even worse and slower than the original node. Then suddenly nothing worked, couldn’t even log in to the control panel. They said the OS broke during the move and so it had to be reinstalled. After ALL that downtime and hassle and problems that were their fault, they wouldn’t even compensate for all the downtime. Dropped them like a hot potato after that.

I strongly advise staying away from Hostmybytes. Lately, they are just a disaster.
OVZ networks disappear on several VMS, if you can reach the support and are not getting a server error when trying to open a ticket, they are near to useless and at best they offer to rebuild the VPS (naturally the data is gone) but the new VM also doesn’t have a network interface.
These guys are completely under and away. probably too many promotions to collect money but not the infrastructure to support this.

Bought a VPS from them a few weeks ago. Went to bed , woke up and it said offline. I opened a ticket, they said the “OS was corrupt” and they said they only option was to reinstall a os…. I know this was not user error as I had the same things running on this vps as I have on every other, and when I went to bed it was fine. So as of now im kind of scared to rely on it. also cpu performance is weak lately. Also I get a bunch of email from them written entirely in Chinese, which is weird to me.

Like meany other people on here have reported, their support does not answer you at all. Even when procuring services you may not get everything you ordered.
