Bought a VPS with Losangelesvps in September. Still humming along nicely, no complaints. The new DDoS protection feature is a great plus (extra peace of mind hehe)

Interested in picking up a 3GB vps server plan. I have some questions:

    1. Can I set up a Plex Media Server on the VPS?
I figure it would be perfect to set up as one considering I’m in SoCal, I get under 10ms to your test IP. Buffer speeds should be considerably good if it’s anything like your test file

    2. Unlimited bandwidth, is that right? I plan on transferring in and out at least 20TB data a month which is why I want to double check

    3. Can I set it up with Ubuntu for now with the possibility that I MIGHT want to re-install to Debian later on? I prefer Ubuntu but have never installed Plex on an Ubuntu server. If it doesn’t work out I’d like the ability to reinstall to Debian where I have installed it before and have a guide for. Both are similar OS’s but have their differences.

Other than that, this looks like a solid offer and I might even pick up two if the first one works out well after setting it up. Let me know,

    Thanks, Dennis

Will you allow custom ISO’s if we don’t want to use an outdated version of the OS’s you list? Even if not officially supported?

  7. Hello Dennis,

Plex Media Server is OK to run and all of our VPS plans do include Unmetered Bandwidth. We use the Virtualizor Control Panel, where you will be able to reinstall (or change) your server’s operating system if needed.

Please feel free to me know if you have any other questions

  8. Hi Aaron

Yes, this is doable and we’ve accommodated similar requests before for other clients. Please open a support ticket and we will get the ISO mounted to your VPS to complete the installation using VNC.

So far so good. I got three and the team of LAHost was patient and super fast.
I’m surprised how little slower than my current 16GB and whatnot it is.
Disk space is the bottleneck for me.
I’ll go all in and cancel my old hosting.

I just ordered. I can not connect to the control panel via the link in email.
    (Ends with port :4038)
I can login to the client area, it’s just the control panel. Tried various connections, and it either doesn’t load or displays a TLS error.
    Anyone else having this issue?

  11. Kent:

Was not their issue, two separate FWs had to be configured to allow the 4038 port as secure.
This may be helpful to others, as some FWs only allow 443 and 563 by default over https.

Are you able to install any Linux distro on these KVMs? Is that what the ‘none’ option is for when selecting an Operating System in the shopping cart?

  13. Hi Alex

Yes, we can mount an ISO for you if you do not see an available OS choice that suits your needs. Please open a support ticket and we will get the ISO mounted to your VPS to complete the installation using VNC.

Please could you explain how flexibly the resource pools can be allocated. For instance on the 4x VPS Pool, could you create 2x VPSs each with 2 Cores, 3Gb RAM and 30Gb SSD? Thanks.

How many different IP4′ do you have? I do SEO, I just signed up for one vps, I’d be interested in signing up for More VPS if I can get placed in at least different class C IP block ranges.

    Server one example: 192.168.220.x
ideal server two example: 192.168.56.x or 192.146.20.x or 45.42.52. examples just different subnets for google SEO backlink building purposes

I made a positive comment on Feb 9th. However, I stand corrected. Ever since, my sites have not been running properly.

1:1 identical configuration as on other hosting services. 4 times slower than before and my last VPS was in OVERSEAS. Constant attacks from servers from their own IP pool. Regular service interruptions. They already killed two servers but it’s an ongoing thing.

    Very unreliable also.

I lost more money to wasting time and time and time than I saved going for this deal.

They don’t offer refunds, but I will try to get my money back for 2 of the 3. Having one slow server for playing is fine. But not for real websites.

The people I was in touch with are VERY nice and I’m sorry to leave this comment. But I can’t recommend this. It’s not inexpensive, it’s cheap.

    • I bought a few for my business. I got a couple runt slow ones, but they were pretty good about replacing them with a different node by emailing support. Not instantly but they switched the node to a much faster one by the next day.
