          And IPv6, don’t forget the IPv6 :)

Speaking seriously, since I am from Russia it is very interesting to me to see this LEB offer.
Local providers suck on price/performance a lot, so I guess it’s good to at least have some providers from the ‘civilized world’ to come and open their proverbial branches here to show everyone what a good VPS offer should look like. (Well, okay, $7 for 128 might be not quite it, but at least it’s Xen, and the transfer is unmetered).

Your comment regarding the Russian providers is rather unfair — I had very good experience with ihc.net and reg.net.

NQHost offers familiar SolusVM and 100Mbps unmetered but all downloads I did in the couple of hours I’m using the Moscow VPS were all under 5Mbps.

          @Francisco
how exactly is my comment ‘unfair’? I said: they suck on price-to-performance ratio. Let’s see, OpenVZ/1000Mhz/512MB/10GB costs $17/month at ihc.ru you mentioned, and $24/month at reg.ru. That’s about 3 to 5 times more expensive than a typical LEB offer here. Not even to mention the ridiculously capped CPU. So I do not see how what I said is not true or fair.

US$ 15-20 is the usual cost for a cheap/entry level unmanaged VPS from a reputable company even in the US. In most countries around the world a VPS will cost a lot more than $20.

IMO LowEndBox could be more about low end boxes and less about low prices. :-)

Oh fscking really, I can get a whole 2GB/750GB/5TB dedicated server for $35 and yes, from a reputable company too.
I do not see what grounds you have for your wide-brush insulting of virtually all companies who are posted at LEB, and many of them having nothing but good feedback in the comments even years later, by calling them ‘unreputable’.
Maybe you should just hang out around here a bit more. And do not mistake the terms ‘cost’ and ‘price’, in your mentioned $15-20 range _cost_ is much less, the owners just decide to set an obscene _price_ and sit back&relax raking in profits, but that ‘business model’ comes crumbling down right now just as we discuss this.

Clearly I’m talking about the cost for the client not the cost to provide the service. In that context, cost = price.

@rm: where did you find such a cheap russian dedicated from a reputable/stable company?

could you give us the company name?

That was in response to “US$ 15-20 is the usual cost for a cheap/entry level unmanaged VPS… even in the US“. So no, the mentioned $35 dedi was not in Russia (but in Germany).

I was talking about myself, that the things I look at in new hosts is their approach to IRC and to IPv6.
I did not imply this host has or has not IPv6.

  4. Hi everybody,

Unfortunately ipv6 is not supported by the Russian data-center right now. As far as I know, the ipv6 in Moscow is very big issue and no maybe one or two DC’s offer it in the testing mode.

Regarding IRC question, we allow IRC for the legal usage only (no botnets!!!)

And thank you all for the interesting to our services.

  8. Guys, please reboot your VPS containers via SolusVM in order to fix the bandwidth speed issue.
Our bad – we used old SolusVM settings for Moscow-located node.

For those of you who might dream that everything is possible in russia:

“We don’t allow any kind of warez/copyrighted content hosting/linking/etc. Please
don’t even try to use our services for that.”

Don’t know what would happen in case somebody tried though as eventual complains would be sent to the DC – who knows how they’d handle that…

    • This is our position. Any kind of the illegal activity (copyrighted content, “warez”, torrents, etc) is strictly prohibited.

    • Russia is not a country with bears drinking vodka and playing balalayka. There were some cases when the authority have seized the servers and the domain names.
      Just FYI.

Russia is quite big Ville, there are still a lot of bears drinking vodka.

( & a lot of nice host that will host anything if you react when you/they receive a dcma/copyright complain )

          Don’t worry, be happy :)

      Sure.

And as long as you don’t host the stuff on the server & avoid russian content there is usualy no problem in russia (even in other places though, who would believe that linking to a torrent file that contains only metadata could be illegal?)
