OpticServers is a registered company in the United Kingdom and have been since September 2014. According to Joe they operate their own data center in London, but Surrey is close to Gatwick Airport which is a bit outside of London. Still, the latency to London should be really low. DDoS protection is shared amongst all users, meaning that the 40Gbps attack capacity is not available exclusively to just one VPS. With the unmetered traffic, I have to say this is quite a unique offer, especially at this price point. If you do give them a shot, please let us know how it goes!

PayPal is currently the only accepted payment method. The server is customizable during ordering, though it could take it over the $7-pricing limited. Before you order, please read their Terms of Service!

          • There is currently an issue with our RAID Card the Battery is dead on that particular host node, a new battery has been purchased and everyone on that host node will be compensated up to 7 days once the Battery has been replaced.

Offer and @DanielM’s benchmark looks awesome. Finally something unmetered in UK. @Lucas, yes – I would love to see KVM offer next to OVZ.

Where is that DC now? Joe, can you please clarify? Because that test ip brings up so many cities on http://www.iplocation.net/ and another one on maxmind.com, but never I see London.

From another forum, it seems their operating their own DC and using Virgin Media for transit.

    February 21, 2015 @ 12:44 pm | Reply
    • It is on our upstream provider’s edge and it normally detect’s and filter’s the attack with in 15 – 30 Seconds.

I can verify it is in Surrey. Their IPs don’t show up as any specific location due to Virgin Media not being so good at editing the geolocation on business IPs. :P

So if I host legal downloads, at what point are you going to cut me off? After all, “unmetered” should be unmetered, right? Or does that conveniently fall into the “Network Stressing” category in your TOS?

    February 21, 2015 @ 11:38 pm | Reply
    • We have no limitation on the bandwidth inbound and outbound however if the 100Mbps uplink on your VPS is being abused you would be notified about it and have 48 hours to resolve the issue as we clearly can not provide a full 100Mbps uplink 24/7 to 1 VPS, and the “Network Stressing” is more if you were trying to send outbound malicious traffic from our network (DrDDoS)

Is anyone else having random network outages or is it just me….

    March 4, 2015 @ 7:38 pm | Reply
    • Herm:

Had a lot of outages and extended periods of extremely slow network speeds, I was down to less than 300Kb/s several times.

Decided that its not really stable enough even though I was only intending it to run dns services as at times, it has been too slow to even allow dns zone transfers.

Also, they say they are £3.40/month but apparently that’s a 1st month promotion and the price goes up after that.

That thought had crossed my mind more than once, whatever the truth, the speed is dismal. I downloaded my backup last night, 700Mb of data, max speed I got was around 256Kb/s.

it appears to be some kind of leased line fibre optic (maybe big red internet from virgin media?)

Still maxing out at about 1.47MB/s to another server in the uk.

that server i used is in the actual network (virgin media) itself

so should be a lot faster

what is more worrying is no reply to ticket either as yet (maybe they don’t work weekends?)

        • Herm:

I was hoping this would be a good UK offering, not expecting the earth at these prices but a network speed that varies between slow and dial-up speed makes the whole thing useless even for basic things. Shame really, looked really good.
