How long does it usually take to get the server up and running? — I do know I made a special request which may take longer (32bit OS), but I am just trying to see from your experiences if after almost 24h I should be concerned..

It’s not like I’m in a hurry (I still have much to do before getting my stuff working on the server), but it wouldn’t be any cool if somehow the process got messed up.

Will contact nenolod later, once the 24h mark is reached.

    UPDATE:
Just got word from nenolod that everything is ok with my account. (after emailing him)

Will make a last update once things are up and running (or I have the time)..

Update#2: Account is setup and running, but not in 32bit like requested.. (or at least “uname -m” replies with x86_64) [It’s Chicago by the way]

Can’t figure out where to get serial access, if it is available. SSH works fine and system comes clean like expected.

Seen somewhere else the URL for systeminplace DNS, which supposedly should work for RapidXen — that is, RapidXen costumers apparently are allowed to use it.. didn’t really had the time to test it out.

I hope this little mishaps like the initial delay and then a wrong kernel (unsolved — just mailed in) are just a bumpy start to a smooth ride.

  4. Serial console access has to be requested via a trouble ticket for security reasons; we do not want to enable potential security risks (think: root password cracking the VPS via serial console (by cracking the serial console server password)) for customers unless they want it enabled.
