Fair enough in both senses: IPv4 exhausion is aready here, so it’s no longer an option to provide IPs “just in case”, AND they slashed the price accordingly (last time 6.50, 5.25 now).
Perhaps listened to the feedback (I posted about that somewhere too), that almost no one uses more than 1 IPv4 address on a VPS, and everyone would prefer 1-IP cheaper plan to many-IP more expensive one.

    • Hello,

I always look forward to hear comments from clients or future clients, the price slash is reflective of the IP’s, and yes IPv4 is getting exhaustive. They have and are starting to make it harder to gain more IP’s, most clients don’t even utilize more than 1 IP from what I’ve seen. We’ve been performing a lot of new work lately and are trying to bring our prices down for our clients. Hopefully we reduce more overhead to bring clients more. Please keep checking for future promotions.

  2. Still no burstable memory I gather?

    • Hello drmike,

Are you looking for a vps with burstable memory capabilities? Why don’t you check out our XEN VPS’s as they have swap memory, most vps’s that are set for burstable are usually oversold and the vps’s that can do burstable memory can go down if the bustable memory is reached. Please let us know if we could be of any assistance. Email us at sales@simplerack.net or talk to one of our sales rep’s online for more information.
      Thank you.

      • No, I;m fine. Just pointing it out as it was mentioned in the previous offer.

        Thanks though for the response.

    • Yes for VZ provider when they don’t mention burstable memory, usually they set it to the same as guaranteed memory.

And no (to Leo), burstable memory is necessity for OpenVZ containers. Without burstable memory, the only thing guaranteed memory does is to guarantee that you can’t use that much memory…

      • This is an ironic truth that most providers do not understand. And consumers continued to be misled by the flowery marketing terms “guaranteed” and “burstable”. :)

        • Please do elaborate. I’ve tested guaranteed and burstable RAM and it seems my understanding of it is pretty clear. Not saying I can’t be wrong.

          On another note off topic.
I’m intrigued by the blogging site you host, it’s simple, but interesting and the first time I’ve ever been on it. I like the coloring and the layout. I’m surprised I never came across it. It also has the adgridwork which really caught my eyes. Is there any way I could contact you privately?

        • @Leo — with regarding to OpenVZ, sometimes RTFM is better than blindly testing (although it’s true that testing is still required).

  3. Say you set 10 vps and you have 10 GB of RAM. You assign 1GB of ram per VPS, where is this burstable memory coming from, well actually it’s coming from another VPS/client’s share. Hence the point where people can oversell with openVZ, we don’t burst for that reason. However as the LowEndAdmin wrote burst is good, but only if you don’t oversell, say you have 10 vps and you have 20GB of ram, and each vps has an extra 1GB to burst. The only reason openVZ needs or should have the burst is because it doesn’t do swap memory.

I have no qualms or quarrels, if you need burst, I will customize your vps for you. :-)

And as I make that compliment, everything goes down, including simplerack.net and both my VPSs. Hope to have them back soon.

    • Hello James,

We’re terribly sorry about the outage, this morning our switch was being finicky and as we had an order to replace it it went down on us. We sincerely apologize for this.

  6. Hello LowEndAdmin,

That’s so true, you can only do so much with testing. I’ve read your blog on openvz as well as many others on WHT and the one you recommended at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showpost.php?p=6933231&postcount=16 . They make perfect sense.

Thank you for your reply, much is always appreciated from experienced hosts/users.

  9. From the tracker, looks like they had a change of ownership somewhere around February to Leo? Is Chris and Cody still there — they were commenting in all previous posts except this one. So I guess Chris has already planned to sell the company prior to December last year?

  10. Hello Everyone,

This is Cody formerly with Simple Rack,
I would like to clarify everything that is going on.

Pleas keep in mind that I am not officially a representative of Simple Rack, however I would like to inform everyone as to what I know has recently happened.

To answer LEA’s question, Simple Rack was sold about 6 months ago.
During the 6 months following, I was not apart of Simple Rack’s day to day operations, however I did stay in communication with Leo the new owner.

According to Leo, and according to the Ticket I saw, all of Simple Rack’s servers at Joe’s were permanently suspended due to Spam Complaints.

Currently Leo is waiting on Joe to Ship the Servers to a new DC, which will has of yet to be disclosed.

Leo has told me that, if anyone is wishing to seek a refund, or is wishing to further discuss what has happend, to contact him directly at customerservice@simplerack.net, lvang@simplerack.net or through the client center.

In addition, I am currently in the process of trying to acquire Simple Rack from Leo, the website has been replaced with a “under construction” page for the time being as we work togethor to sort this out.

Hopefully I was able to clear things up, if you have anymore questions you may contact myself at cadkins@simplerack.net or leo at lvang@simplerack.net .

    Thank you for your time,
    -Cody Adkins
