First of all, a very merry Christmas to all! I’ve managed to find a few minutes to publish an irresistible offer for those of you who want to spend your Christmas money :) Taking the prestigious Christmas day spot this year is StormVZ, who have sent in two different offers in three different locations.
LEB NY/LA 2048
| LEB UK 1536

Since their last post, on LowEndBox, they have gone through a bit of change and now have a new website, offer new plans and provide new locations. StormVZ are offering all LowEndBox customers a free port upgrade from 100Mbps to 1Gbps port, simply submit a ticket to get it upgraded.
VPS are instantly activated after you have passed their fraud check and your payment has been approved. They accept PayPal and Google Checkout as their payment methods. StormVZ offer a full 5 day money back guarantee. All of their servers have 2 x gbit links on a dedicated port to ensure “the network is always quick, even during peak times”. Here is a little benchmark from my NY VPS from this offer. The server feels very fast and the network as well. One thing I think is worth mentioning is that the support from StormVZ has been outstanding. This is my third VPS from StormVZ. :) Only downside is there is no IPv6 available at the moment in NY.

Super quick reply to support tickets and quick setup. Looking forward to getting to work… :-)
Seasons greetings…
Same hardware specs as stated above, except I’m on the NY1 node from black friday deal which is basically the same, and have been meaning to post a review..
I moved from linode to stormvz on black friday, checkout was painless & tickets are answered quick
Disk IO was 240M/s when I started out and I have only seen it below 160M/s once, and it was cause array was rebuilding
Cachefly 50-60M/s (depends on day)
If you’re looking for a new VPS, StormVZ is amazing!

Hello.
How math add 1 ip to “LEB UK 1536”?
Hi,
£1.50/ea/mo – $2.40* – If submitted via ticket (We have high payment gateway fees but the price we pay for secure fraud checks)
We have added Extra IP on order form – £1/ea/mo – If chosen on checkout with payment as a whole along with the VPS.
Thanks
Hello,
I’m looking for a server for personal use, and your offer is really interesting.
One of the things that I’m going to use it for is running a small private game server, specifically Minecraft (max 6 players, Tekkit mod).
The doubt I have is, even tough most of the time the game server will be empty/stopped the particular mod that I want to use tends to use a fair bit of CPU in some situations, so I was wondering what conditions trigger the suspension that you mention in your ToS in the “Fair Share Usage” section and if this kind of usage might fall under them.
I’d also like to know if I can run a personal VPN on it.
Thanks for your time.
Hi Nicolo,
It’s very hard to say what fair cpu usage is, it depends on load of other VPSs as well as yours. In general we say if 1 VPS is effecting multiple users and seeing a decrease in speed or availability then we will usually suspend.
VPN is fine
Thanks
I’ll give it a try and see how it goes.
Thanks
WOW! Hold on a second! You “usually suspend” accounts if they need more resources???
What about having a limiter which automatically stops processes going over the guaranteed resources????
Hello,
As the other user stated above, it’s really interesting for a minecraft server. Currently I own a 2gb vps on Letbox – But they gave me a “Abuse Alert” because it used average 117% cpu. Is this something you will terminate if I choose to get a vps here?
Hi Gustav,
We will usually suspend the server then notify you by opening a ticket on your account, once you acknowledge it and reply back we will un-suspend and then you will have a chance to do some modification to decrease CPU usage.
Hope that helps!
Patrick
About the same as Letbox then. I couldn’t do anything to limit the cpu usage, and they said it was already limited but i breached it.
Feel free to give us a go and see how the 4 shared CPUs work for you, we have 7 days money back guarantee so nothing to loose.
Ordered a Maidenhead VPS and was instantly setup. Server feels quick and seems stable. Network connx seems good with good routes to everywhere I need.
Thanks!
Supposing I go with a quarterly plan now, will I be able to renew it later at the same price?
Yup!
This offer looks very interesting. I have a couple of questions thought. Firstly, do you offer a choice of OS (such as debian 6, Ubuntu 12.10, Centos etc) or am I forced to use just one distro (you look to be a Centos house)? Secondly, what is your attitude to VPNs in general (and Tor in particular)? I currently run one tor node (with no exit) and a mirror for tails on thrustVPS servers. The bandwidth offer is reasonable, but the uptime is decidely flakey. I have in the past run tor exit nodes, but some VPS providers are unhappy with that.
Hi Mick,
We have CentOS 5, CentOS 6, Debian 6, Ubuntu 12.04 (32 Bit + 64 Bit) and CentOS 5 32 Bit HostInABox.
Private VPNs are fine, TOR is not allowed as per our terms:
http://stormvz.com/terms.html
Thanks
Hi Patrick. Thanks for the reply.
It is a bit disappointing that you don’t allow tor (and even more so that you should lump tor in with phishing and proxy scanner sites). But it’s your network, so you set the rules.
What about my other use case, the tails mirror? (High bandwidth, but simply web downloads of tails isos).
Mick
Please think twice before purchasing a node here! I bought mine yesterday only to see a complete 12 hour down time today and I get a regret mail stating all my data has been lost! Now, what if I was running some production stuff on it! This is crazy!
We tried our best to restore data but the FSCK caused a complete mess. I do not blame ourselves or Quadranet after the drive failure and server being boot up the server going in FSCK. Please don’t bash us if you have no prior details regarding what happened.
We rebuilt the RAID array and tried to restore data from /vz/lost+found but was merely impossible with hundreds of different folders in random order. If your going to pay $7 and moan for god service please look elsewhere.
All of our customers on LA1 responded to our email and were happy with the quick movements and regular updates whilst we worked through the night to try get the data back in to a usable condition.
If you want a refund, please open a ticket. I’d rather get rid of bad mouthers.
Well, sorry about the bad mouthing part. While I completely understand there could be downtime, data loss was something that I never expected. Also, the notifications email came from a noreply id. To someone who has just opened an account 24 hours ago, it did seem bad. Undoubtedly, this is probably the best deal to ask for with $7 a month, but it looks quite rude to say “If your going to pay $7 and moan for god service please look elsewhere”!
It was something that they never expected too.
You can hop in the Chat channel and get a detailed explanation.
Ignore the 7$ part, he is probably mad at you for being aggressive and rude..
Email did come from noreply as it was sent within SolusVM to clients on LA node only rather then from our billing panel. Client Area is always a point of contact area where all tickets through any host is handled.
We have already reinstalled server and set it back up for live use and currently recreating VPS accounts again and you should receive new information shortly.
Good service and quality servers.
Customer support is fast, they are friendly and there is a handy chat room.
Speaking about the LA problems, they explained the issue to me, gave me regular updates and are now working on it.
You should always have backups anyways and this is just an isolated case, it’s rare and it happens.
Definitely recommended 5/5.
Don’t know about their quality. But, I tried to download their test files from my NY VPS. Got the following results:

As far I know, I get always 8-10 MBPS from my that NY VPS. But, I got average of 3.71 MBPS from your NY Location !!!
Not sure why they’re so low but we’ve had several clients surpass these speeds on there gbit network port on there VPS reaching 50mb/s and more.
The offer is now expired and out of stock.
