LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
My decision to move one of my site to SynHost.eu’s V-Bronze VPS plan a couple of weeks ago was crazy because I don’t know them and at that time they don’t even have a proper about us page and TOS. However, I do believe in what lowendbox.com promote here and I just join them.
Now beside the shared hosting and VPS package, SynHost.eu is also offers Dedicated Server plan, Shared Reseller plan, and V-Reseller plan.
The online support is quite responsive, and I think SynHost is managed directly by the owner, so just like other good provider who directly involved in managing the business, it is not about how good the machine is but how we trust them as a business partner.
I believe SynHost.eu is one of the “new emerging forces” in hosting business.
Good Luck,
if youre looking for a stable VPS provider, then do NOT choose synhost. i have been a customer since Jan 2010 after seeing this advert, and have had many many problems. server migration from dc to dc lost/deleted ALL my data from my VPS which was not retrievable. it then took 1 whole week in order to actually get a reply from their so called ‘first class 24/7 support’ team. if thats 1st class, i’d hate to see 2nd class. after i finally got a reply, it took them another 2 days to setup my new VPS. once i had redone everything on my server, after roughly 60 days of uptime, the server crashed. luckily this time i did not lose my data, but it did take 4 days for the server to be back online, and support took the whole 4 days to actually get a response from anyone. and now again after ~15 days the server has crashed/gone totally offline once again, and yet again the support tickets and even irc contact are just ignored, it has been 24+ hours and still no response. this company is a big JOKE and i suggest you avoid them. synhost.eu and igsobe.com are the same company. avoid them at all costs! *disgruntled customer*
SynHost has been going up and down like crazy last month. Looks like it might be gone for good this month?
I was wrong! Synhost was sold to Internet Gateway of South Beach http://www.igsobe.com in early March 2010, and I was assigned a new IP address. However the IP address given apparently was not clean, and on April 9th, my account was suspended due to abuse complaint without any confirmation to me beforehand. It took me 2 days to move to other VPS and beside losing some income, it hurt my google rank too. Well, just another webmaster experience, good first impression is not always good.
