  • 512MB memory
  • 40GB storage
  • 2TB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

While previous offer has their VPS in Chicago with SingleHop, their new server is in Orlando FL with HostDime. The same offer was posted on WHT earlier today by “Pheonix VPS” [sic] — the same Brian who registered pheonixvps.com. Domain was only registered back in September last year + adjacent NS.

So to clarify, new VPSes will be located on SingleHop or HostDime?

Can we please have a test ip for the appropriate location?

I think this explains. The new VPSes will be located in Orlando with HostDime.

Great value for money. I signed up and was given my server details straight away. So for the money it is a great deal. Speed of server seems very fast for the server in Orlando as i am in the UK seems to be fine. I have tried most low end boxes in the past and so far i know it is early days but so far so good. Give them a go………….

  5. Yes, we no longer have a server with SingleHop. Our new server is at Host Dime in Orlando. For those that like to have a test IP for the server, it is 66.7.220.78.

Just signed up for a reoccuring $6.00 plan, ping ttl very good from Miami. A little annoyed of the TOS 404 error http://urpad.net/tos.php, but ill still give it a shot. This is my 3rd VPS (Texas VPSwow, Canadian Nix communications). Ill update with my experience and any requested benchmarks.

    • Sorry about the 404 error on the ToS. Our site use to be php based. Sense are last listing on LEB, we have converted it over to Word Press base. It helps with SEO. The new link for the ToS is as follows http://urpad.net/tos/

Wow.. as I was posting my last post the VPS already setup/active! Of course the first thing I always do is
secure SSH. Out of my three VPS’s this so far is was the fastest setup and feels snappier. @Brian, no prob on the TOS, just wanted to make sureit conformed to the normal legalities i’m used to, as I use my VPS’s mainly for testing Python/GO distributed programming and the occasional ssh socks proxy when i’m on an untrusted network.

  9. Do you allow web based proxies with your vps?

    January 16, 2011 @ 2:53 am | Reply
    • also, what’s the price for additional IPs?

      January 16, 2011 @ 2:59 am | Reply
      • I am sorry but we do not allow proxies of any type. Our data center does not allow it so we have to enforce this as well. Extra IP’s cost only $2.

  10. at the time i’m writing this i havent have one vps with the, but their support is nice. they agree to install me with special spec with special price, just to fulfill my requirements.

hardest part on openvz vps are iptables modules not being loaded on main node. support (brian), contact DC right the way, and will tell me later if it is installed. this modules needed to battle with bad bots, and of course it will help not only my vps but also the main node.

that’s all i can share for now, will inform you all later when i got my vps and install everything up.

    January 16, 2011 @ 4:40 am | Reply
    • I am still waiting for a reply from the data center. I will call them to find out the status of the modules you requested.

      January 16, 2011 @ 9:45 pm | Reply
      • All you need to do is add the wanted module into /etc/vz/vz.conf under IPTABLES=””.

Keep in mind, you’re going to want to check VZ compatibility and known issues with certain modules.

        • hi matthew,

seem that you know much on openvz. just curious why most openvz providers not enable couple of important iptables, such as: connlimit, state, limit, etc..
i use those modules to block rapid web request from bad bot and spamer.

doing some computations, it looks like 800kb/s uplink is guaranteed for the server, is it true or is it faster? is it on 1gbps connection?

    January 16, 2011 @ 7:27 pm | Reply
    • The server itself has a 100Mbps port. It is shared to each VPS. In turn, in SoluVM, each VPS has its own 100Mbps port.

Setup was instant. Debian 5 image had incorrect sources.list, but it was an easy fix. I have received an email informing about a scheduled server reboot, and another one when the reboot was finished (was pretty short). Very good communication! VPS feels kind of slugish right now, seems like i/o wait might be the cause. And not sure if its only me, but it seems the hardware clock is one hour off.

    • Thanks for letting me know about the hardware clock. I will check into this and get it resolved. It has been pointed out to use that the Debian has the wrong sources.list. We are working on getting that fixed as well.

        any ETA for xen vps?
somehow, most xen vps providers deliver higher price compared to openvz vps. i just hope that you stay at cheap price..

        January 19, 2011 @ 4:36 pm | Reply
        • We don’t have an eta just yet on the xen vps. We are looking to do what you have stated. For use to do that, we have to find the right server to put the xen vps on.

    January 20, 2011 @ 7:50 am | Reply
    • DL speed for a 2GB file is between 1 to 6 Mbps. 2TB is the amount of bandwidth alloted to our vps512 plan

  23. What is your uptime? Are you still setting things up and rebooting servers? I need a server that is hosting a game server so it needs to be up 99.9% of the time.

    Thanks.

    January 24, 2011 @ 10:13 am | Reply
    • Our uptime is 99.9%. We are working getting the two nodes that we now setup on a private network. We have alot of requests for this feature so we are looking into getting this done. This will allow you to have more then just one VPS and allow them to talk to each other from with in the data center and not use the public IP which in turn consumes bandwidth.

  24. You guys are recently started the company. What’s the reliability? Because many persons / companies starts the vps selling and then run away. If there’s any reliability then I’m willing to buy VPS512.

    January 25, 2011 @ 1:54 pm | Reply
    • There is no need to worry. We will be around for awhile. Unlike some companies, we like to start off small and work our way up. If you don’t, you will end up on the whole very fast. We are bring up a third node online in the next 24 hours which is great for us. We are also making plans to add premium VPS with cPanel and other control panels in the near future. On that note, we have been getting alot of requests for private networking VPSs together. We are also working on this as well.

A couple of issues getting tun/tap enabled where iptables got screwed then tun disabled but all resolved in a timely, friendly manner (got an interim “sorry for the delay” mail which was nice).

Snappy little box with full 100Mbit throughput. Nice @ the price!

  28. Hands down the worst hosting provider I’ve ever used. Can you say timeout; page cannot be displayed; the server cannot be found; error connecting to mysql database??? When I signed up, I admitted not having great knowledge of linux. They assured me “no need to worry, we will help you with that”. Their help consisted of sending me some links. I am still waiting to receive a reply to the last support request, because my server is down AGAIN. Guess the old saying stands true. You get what you pay for.
