VPN Unlimited - Unmetered VPN in 38 countries (52 locations) - $29 Lifetime Subscription

Today I’m posting something a little different. This wasn’t submitted to us. Rather, as I found myself on StackSocial hunting for good deals I came across VPN Unlimited’s lifetime subscription for $29. VPN Unlimited is a name that I’ve seen around for a while. I’ve used their services on my iPhone a few times, as well as via their Mac app. I found it to be quite acceptable, with well designed native applications to go along with it.

The Offer:

– Unmetered traffic
– Streaming regions in US (for Netflix, Hulu, etc)
– 38 Countries
– Apps for iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows, Linux, Windows Phone, Apple TV
– $29 Lifetime Subscription* (Price lowered after posting)

Can we use the Windows Built In VPN Setup tool instead of this softwares by that company?

I’ve looked, and it looks like you can use any tool that can use OpenVPN. They have a how-to for dd-wrt as a client.

You can use dd-wrt and openvpn client — they have a HOWTO on their site for that.

Hasn’t happened yet. Not saying it will be around forever but I’m definitely suggesting it’ll be around for a few years, and that’ll get your money’s worth.

They misspelled Czech Republic as Chech Republic, blatant scam. Besides $39 for VPN? Even per year that’s hard to sustain.

Everyone makes mistakes. It’s not a scam, I’ve used them off and on for over a year. Will they be around in 75 years? Probably not, but they’re around today, they’re not a scam, and they run a legitimate and reliable service.

This is a promo and not their regular price. You can make assumptions, but they know what they can sustain better than you or I do. They’ve been around for a while too.

But… your choice if you wanna miss out. They have a 3 year for $19 at the same link. More for the rest of us I guess :)

If you check their website out this VPN normally costs $120 if you buy it right from the site.

@Jar…consider this link to torrentsearch’s annual privacy reports a hint on how these VPN offer wrtieups could be made more useful for LEB users by including info on the companies logging/privacy policies/etc which is something that is one of the main concerns of many VPN users when choosing a provider.

TorrentSearch 2016 anonymity report on VPN Unlimited: https://torrentfreak.com/anonymous-vpn-providers-2016-edition2/#vpnunlimited TL;DR is they log and store IP addresses for 7 days and then delete them

Scam and will close down in a year.

They’ve had their lifetime offers featured periodically on SlickDeals for over a year now. Parent company KeepSolid Inc is a registered business incorporated in NY in 2012 (name changed to KeepSolid Inc from Simplex Solutions Inc a couple of years ago).

    Amazon reviews: 31 positive, 17 negative: http://www.amazon.com/Simplex-Solutions-Inc-UNLIMITED-HOTSPOT-SECURITY/product-reviews/B00MHNQK84

Sustainable business model, probably not but it doesn’t look like a scam.

When shopping for a VPN, you generally might want to know if their software helps stop IPv6 leaks, DNS leaks and WebRTC leaks. You’d want to know if any of their servers keep logs. If you like streaming Netflix, Hulu, etc., you need to know if they can circumvent blocks by these companies. If you want to use this for torrenting, you might want to read the FAQ on the company website. Things you should know before dropping any money on it.

  12. If anyone of you guys have any plan to visit china. An vpn provider with only openvpn and PPTP support is not enough …. actually they are all blocked in china for a long time…
We use shadowsocks and ocserv(for anyconnect or openconnect to connect) instead …

I bought their lifetime. It’s almost a decent service. Speeds hover around 2-3 mb/s for download, but the odd part is upload speeds are horrible. Can’t go above about 300 kb/s. There’s definitely variation between servers, but don’t expect something great. As far as their reliability goes, it’s decent as well. Sometimes it times out when trying to connect so you have to switch servers to something else.

Lately I found myself connecting to my “home server” via openVPN on 443 more than I do VPN Unlimited, because the speed is better. Sad, I know.

On the plus side, OpenVPN recently opened up port 80 or 443 (not really sure which because the software doesn’t show it and I’m too lazy to look for the openvpn configs), which means you can use it in restrictive networks, such as a university network.

As far as privacy goes, they *say* they don’t log and stuff, but none of these companies can simply say “no” to official investigations. If they weren’t logging before, they will start doing so once they’re threatened enough, even if it is for a specific account. Just don’t be stupid enough to google how to build an explosive device using a shoestring, a shark fin, double sided tape, and the 5th edition of Biology by Camden –– and then actually do it. That’s just… beyond stupid. You get the point: nothing can protect you if someone with enough resources is after your buttocks.

    • vpns homed in the us are not required to retain data, Nor are the datacenters. Inform yourself thru law not what someone else has written as a scare tactic please. As far as this providers performances / speeds it may be relative to your distance from the server you connecting to. Try doing a tracert to see your public path between your bridged net and hopefully you can figure that speed issue out. Typically low speeds on high speed networks come down to the peer / distance from my experience but trial it out yourself.

If you’re interested in advice from an anonymous internet guy who knows only enough to be dangerous about online security, I’d skip this offer. The protocols they are using (SHA1 + AES-128 bit key) are deprecated for some time now. If you’re truly interested in secure communication, I’d say your chances of a certain government agency being able to read those packets they’re illegally collecting from you are closer to 100% than 0%. For that reason alone, I’m going to pass. Nice price, unsuitable tech for its purpose.
