Thanks to Pascal who tipped me this, as I was this Netherlands-based VPS provider VPS4Less.nl with VPS4Less.de that I’ve covered last year. For 3.99 Euro/month you get:
- 128MB memory
- 5GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- CentOS 5.4
Price excludes 19% VAT — whatever that means as I’m not from eurozone either. Some tests from Pascal:
Seems pretty good so far, you get access to Xeon 33xx at 2,8GHZ 1 core. Network seemed a bit crowed though at max 6 MB/s from a nearby server. 105 points at the WHT unixbench, for what it’s worth.
Servers are in Amsterdam. Domain registered for > 2 years.

vps4less.de was the most AWFUL provider I’ve EVER used.
And I’ve used many.
That would be vps4less.de, which I think has no relationship with vps4less.nl mentioned here.
A Google translate of their terms (only in Dutch) states “Unless otherwise stated agreements are concluded for a period of one years.”… humm.
VAT means Value Added Tax. It’s a sales tax that’s added right into the price of what you’re buying.
If a price says incl VAT, and you’re outside of EU, you can take off that % as you don’t have to pay it.
The servers are awfully slow and so is the support, I suppose this is to be expected from a company that lacks in security by using hypervm (Which we all know has so many security flaws), doesn’t really care about its customers and provides such a cheap service. This is definately the worst vps provider I have ever come across.
Dear Tom,
I hope you meant vps4less.DE is awfully slow? Because this thread is about vps4less.NL.
vps4less.DE is a different company, and not related to vps4less.NL in any way.
Big troubles with this supplier. Since December 27th the system clock stopped often. I’ve mailed support a few times and they did respond then. Only, no real fix. Time and time again.
January 24th I mailed them that the clock had stopped completely. No response.
January 26th I asked for an update. Response next day was that they were investigating the solution. That was the last reply I received.
January 29th asked for update. No response.
January 29th asked for update. No response.
February 2nd asked for update. 10 days with no running clock. No response.
February 5th ask3ed for update and informed them to post the facts here if no update before yesterday evening. Gave them an extra day but again…. No response.
Today I searched their website for a phone number. No luck.
At this point I am an unhappy customer. I did pay for 6 months ahead and learned a lesson there. The VPS is cheap so I do not expect 24/7 support or 99,9% uptime. But this is ridiculous.
After all this waiting time as described above, the issue was fixed a few hours after posting that message. The VPS is running as expected for 2 days now.
Communication with this supplier is hard. Often I get no response at all.
My advise: Do not pay for longer than 1 month.
OMG, how the system clock can be stopped? :|
Btw, a nice old offer :D
