VPSCheap.net - $12/Year 128MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

VPSCheap.net Mike from VPSCheap.net sent me their new year offer today (not to be confused wit dead-pooled VPSCheap.info). Two promotions —

  • VPS2
  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 15GB storage
  • 10Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • $2.99/month with promo code LEB299 (Direct signup link)
  • VPS1 Annual
  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 3GB storage
  • 5Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • $12/year (Direct signup link)

As Mike said — “12 bucks for all of 2012”. Similar to FastVPS.co offer that I just posted, which is also $12/year, but with VPSCheap.net (1) domain has been registered for almost 2 years, and (2) a LowEndBox regular was happy with his purchase. Servers are with FDC in Chicago IL (test IP:

Well, yes, I am happy. Is stable and all.

But after the ens experiences, I can’t be sure of NOBODY. So, I am really tempted with this offer, but I am afraid at the same time hehe, yearly paying :S

Mine is the 128MB one, and just to update some info:

    $ uptime
     11:09:04 up 28 days, 23:27, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

DD around 50MB/s (it was around 90 MB/s sometimes). Consistent IO latency.

And about the network, I have like 5-8mbits always, which is good n_n

I have had this VPS for ~2 months now and am really pleased. I received a response to a ticket at 3am, about 15 mins after making it. There was a hardware issue that was addressed within 2 hours.

Really great service, considering the 1.99/month price point! I’d definitely upgrade if my needs ever required it.

  16. I am still happy, but this month I had several outages, hardware related it seems. One of the downtimes lasted 6 hours :(

  17. Yes unfortunately we have had some bad luck with hardware this past month. There would be scheduled maintenance for two of our nodes in the coming weeks to address these. We apologize for all the downtime you have experienced and are working hard to provide reliable service for all our customers.

Signed up last night for their $1.99/month VPS, and it was all set up within an hour or so — very impressive response time in my experience, even though their site says it may take up to 24 hours. Everything is working great so far. :)

Just following up to say that, two months later, my experiences have still been very positive with ChicagoVPS. There’s been barely any downtime, and the hosting has been excellent overall.

I was an old customer for VPSCheap but I cancelled all my subscriptions because of several outages for a single month.

I hope they already fix their hardware issues.

  24. I have had nothng but issues with this VPS. First, theit servers were down for DAYS do to a DOS attache, then they chouldn’t get the nodes right, the support is few and far between, and they now cant login to my VPS.

Needless to say, you get what yuo pay for . Some dude at home running a small bx isn’t gonna cut it for me.!!

    • really.., could you please provide a ticket number, nothing that you just wrote here makes any sense

we have not had a single outage due to ddos attack for the last 7 months, we have never had an issues where we couldn’t login to custmer’s vps server, our average support response time is 15 minutes.

I’ve submitted about three requests and I am satisfied.
My current uptime is 17 days. I can’t remember if the last reboot was for maintenance or I did it manually.
