I would get one if they’d throw 3-4 IPs in with the $7 Price mark.

    • We have an extensive FAQ on our KVM VPS page here: http://www.vpsnodebox.com/kvm-vps-servers – and please click on the “FAQ & Discounts” tab. The reason why I am posting this is because per LEB rules the comments section should not be used for support issues. We also provide live chat and around the clock support. You can also email us directly at sales_at_vpsnodebox.com or support_at_vpsnodebox.com.

As for your question: We provide Windows Server ISOs as a courtesy to our customers, as well as Windows Server trial KVM templates. Customers will have to provide their own license for these products. We do not charge for them as we do not provide them. This information along with much more can be found in our FAQ.

      Thank you.

That’s a real shame, having to pay for the Windows licenses separately doesn’t make this as great a deal as I originally hoped.

        October 1, 2012 @ 7:20 am | Reply
        • We could always remove the Windows trial from our offer and it would still be a great offer. I assume that some folks just like to post for the sake of posting.

Given the cost of a windows license typically, if you can find the licenses elsewhere at a steal, then can apply it to yet another steal and get a double steal. But I don’t think it’s particularly reasonable to expect both a 1GB VPS plus the windows license itself to be available for 7$ a month unless the provider likes selling at a loss.

        • The Ninja:

          @VPS Node Box

Whether a offer is ‘great’ is entirely subjective – for me, the additional cost of the Windows license makes this prohibitively expensive when compared to my existing, lower-spec plan that includes the license costs, so the offer is not so ‘great’ for me. Clearly how good the offer is will vary from person to person, and I strongly doubt anyone you be suddenly turned off your offer simply because of my opinion.

I was actually looking around for a cheap license to see if I could make this viable, but your unnecessary closing comment has pretty much put me off taking a service with you.

Bad policy refund. I didn’t see a legal clause that says that they don’t provide Windows license in their VPS (in fact it’s the first time I have heard it in a provider…) Yes, it was my fault. I am guilty. Then, due to the fact I have no license for Windows Server, and I don’t need it, I ask for a refund (two days later than my purchase…), because I won’t use the service.
Well, they have a rule that say: “We used to offer a 7 day no questions asked money back guarantee.”, but they don’t want to apply in my case. They said that “it is not an objective reason”
Caution with them: they got my money, that’s my feel. Besides I have a bad attitude. I think I can’t sing… I am away from them. The leason is expensive.

    • We provide windows ISOs as a courtesy to our customers and KVM templates with Windows Server trial. We do this in order to avoid tickets like: “Can I please provide my own Windows ISO, it’s KVM so I know it works!”. This information is publicly available in our FAQ which is on the same page as our KVM VPS servers here: http://www.vpsnodebox.com/kvm-vps-servers
There is even a nice red arrow with big red text that points to the tabs and says: “Check out these tabs for additional information.”
      On our website it says:
      Q: Does Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 come with a license?
A: No, you will need to provide your own license. We only provide a trial license.

All of our customers understand this.

As far as this gentleman is concerned, he has been beating on me and my staff all day long trying to get us to provide him with a free Windows license. He was rude and showed a lack of consideration towards me and my staff, and all that was asked of him was to properly behave and articulate his thoughts and wishes in a coherent manner that made sense, and not twist the wording in our own FAQ to suit his needs and wants. He went on threatening with bad reviews on WHT/LET/LEB and I personally told him that he can write what he wants because the good folks around here know us. I have tried to explain to him repeatedly that we do not take kindly to customer abuse, and even shown him an example of how to properly address someone in order to request a refund. It is how I do it, and it is the proper and civilized way to do it. Lastly this gentleman was asked to post the whole truth about what he did and how he behaved today, since he started this.

Of course we issued him a full refund of $7.67 – he signed up on 09/30/2012, prorated for 32 days until November 1st. I am sorry to see how sometimes customer bring their drama to public forums or web sites, and I am sorry that I have to address this here because per LEB guidelines such matters should be resolved between the customer and provider.
Also I would like to mention that we refunded him before he posted this and that we asked him to tell the truth, which I doubt he will bother to do now.

Rectification: Marc from VPS Node Box, give me a full refund of my bill. He ask to me that I post our conversation because he believes I had a bad behaviour witdt him. I disagree him, but I have no problem posting so you can judge…
        Me:”Hi.
I am installing my VPS with Windows 2008 R2 Server Datacenter, but when I reboot, Windows ask Activation code. Could you supply me this code?
        Thanks”

VPS:”We do not provide Windows licenses, only the ISOs as an installation courtesy. You will need to purchase a 2008R2 license from an authorized retailer and use the Product Key from that license”

Me:”Well, in every VPS supplier I have worked, they supply Windows licenses. I
could tell you 3 examples at least.
Besides, you have no advice in your web site about this subject.
Then, I believe I have right to ask for a refund and end our contract, due
        I hadn’t enough information.

Thanks for your help, and I’ll wait your response.”

VPS:”It says clearly on or website that we do not supply a windows license right here (click the FAQ Tab): http://www.vpsnodebox.com/kvm-vps-servers

Me:”Well, anyway your product doesn’t fit my needs. Then, I ask a refund of the
service, as you said in the same site…

Q: What if I want my money back? Do you offer a money back guarantee?

A: We used to offer a 7 day no questions asked money back guarantee.
However we have quickly discovered that there is a small minority of
customers that generally likes to purchase VPS server(s) and for a couple
of days abuse the hell out of them by continuously running benchmark,
testing them or using them to either transfer large amounts of data or for
SSH tunneling. In order to deter such behavior we have taken a more common
sense approach to offering a money back guarantee: all refunds are given at
our own discretion. This means that if you are repeatedly having trouble
using our services then we will of course issue you a full refund. Common
sense dictates that it does not make much sense to hang on to your money if
you cannot use our services. Keep in mind that items such as domain names
and SSL certificates are non-refundable because they are issued by 3rd
parties that we have agreements with.

Thanks again. I repeat: I don’t need your service in these conditions, so I
won’t use it, Please, end my services and refund it ( I am inside the 7
        days window…)”

        VPS:”ON THE SAME PAGE:

        Q: Does Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 come with a license?

A: No, you will need to provide your own license. We only provide a trial license.”

Me:”Yes, I saw, you are right. But I have the right to ask for a cancelation
        and refund. Am I wrong?”

VPS:”Yes, if you have an objective reason for asking. “It doesn’t fit my needs” because I didn’t get enough freebies is not an objective reason.”

Me:”Then, you want to retain my money, including the case I can’t use your
services? I think you are violating your own rules:

” We used to offer a 7 day no questions asked money back guarantee.”

Repeat with me: ·”No question asked money back guarantee” Then, you believe
you should ask a question like : “Are your reason objective?”

If you have this policy, you should follow your own rules…. I am sorry”

VPS:”The fact that you don’t want to provide your own windows license doesn’t qualify you for a refund and it doesn’t mean that you can’t use our services.
Trying to twist the wording in our FAQ to suit you doesn’t work either.
By the way, if you want to cancel there is a cancellation button in your account. Feel free to do so.

        “Repeat with me…”
While we have to be professional we don’t have to take the bad attitude of any customer. Also, we don not have a money guarantee anymore exactly because of customers like you, that can’t get enough freebies. Read the full text please.

Thank you for being a valued customer,
        Marc”

Me:”All right, I hope you enjoy my money. Sure you are happy with unhappy
customers like me. You speak about my bad atiitude… Please, see yourself
in a mirror. Of course I will cancel the service with you. You speak also
about professional, but I don’t think your job is good to nobody but
yourself. And be sure I’ll give advices to my companions on lowendbox,
webhostingtalk…etc. $7 don’t make me rich nor poor. Bye bye”

VPS:”Bad attitude and blackmail do not work with us. We are always more than willing to help customers that can properly address issues and bring them to our attention. No one wants to hang on to your money, how ever we don’t take kindly to customer abuse.

People on WHT, LET and LEB know us pretty well. Please feel free to drop in at any time and badmouth us if you feel you must.

Have a great day, and thank you for being a valued customer.

        Sincerely,
        Marc”

Me:”You say I made customer abuse? Because I say things that you don’t like?
Maybe I should sing out…or be happy with this deal. I don’t know what you
believe. Please, put in my skin. Your transaction with me is totally
favourable to you. You have the VPS useful for another customer, and my
        money…for nothing.”

VPS:”I told you that I don’t want to keep your money. I will gladly issue a refund for you. Just so you know when you go to your next provider and pull something like this say:
“Dear [provider], I have purchased this service in error and in a hurry. I realize that this service does not work for me and I would like to respectfully request a full refund.”

Me:”I don’t understand why two lines ago, I was not qualified to get the
        refund, and right now, I am. I don’t understand…
And be sure that next time, I ask to my customer if they provide Windows
        license or not.
Thanks for all. My words could be hard, but I respect everybody. You too.”

VPS:”I just saw your posting on lowendbox.com – that was really nice of you, thank you.
You will now go and tell those people on lowendbox.com and tell them what you did and how you behaved today here and I will give you a full refund. Otherwise I will start posting your tickets. Your choice.

        Have a good one.”

Me:”No. You spoke some posts ago that I had a bad attitude. Have I said any lie
in my post? Everything I said is true. I put that post due to your negative
to acomplish what you should have done time ago. Money is important, but
dignity is more important than money to me.
In fact, I think the matter is in reverse direction: give me the refund,
and I will post right now that you have refunded to me, it means, the true.
I have no problem to post my tickets and yours too: all our conversation,
        ok? I was no rude.
Made what you think is the best for you… as you said some tickets ago:
        feel free to do it.
And sorry, but I am in Europe and I need go to bed right now, because
should go to job tomorrow early…”

VPS:”I have issued you a full refund. Now you need to have some of that dignity and tell those people on lowendbox.com how you behaved here today and how you blackmailed us. Either you tell them or I post your tickets so that other providers can avoid as well. Your choice.”

        • You need to read the LEB guidelines: “Do not use LowEndBox for support issues.”
It will probably cleaned up anyway by @Chief or one of the other moderators.

The bottom line is that you knew that this VPS plan did not include a Windows license, as you stated yourself, yet you decided to push your luck anyway and try to obtain one from us for free.

A small minority of customers will always try and push for more freebies, while casually rubbing it in how they will badmouth you on WHT/LET/LEB if they don’t get their way. This is a well known fact among hosting providers. Here is the problem do: good customer service doesn’t mean giving stuff away for free, it means bending backwards for the customer if you have to in order to make sure that he accomplishes his goal. A bad provider is one that doesn’t reply to your tickets for days, looses your data, overcharges you and so on. When I something like that posted about my company then I will know that I did something wrong.

Note that I don’t claim for a gift, just the first time I ask for License, because I didn’t know about you don’t give licenses… This is a little different from “he has been beating on me and my staff all day long trying to get us to provide him with a free Windows license”. Of course, people can judge: Was I rude? I didn’t insult nobody: you can see it. Of course, I can loose the money for a service I won’t use, but I don’t understand his policy: sometimes I am not qualified to receive the refund, sometimes I am… If this policy depends on the feel of the operator, I don’t like it. Thanks anyway and bye.

PS: “used to” is not the same thing as “we currently do”. Anyone taking the time to read the entire FAQ answer to that particular question will understand that it explains the reasoning behind a conditional refund policy, in your case there was no problem issuing a refund but you had to badger the staff for not offering a windows license included at the 7$ promotion price and that “other” providers would have included it (if you know of another provider offering KVM VPSes with 1GB of ram and windows 2008 R2 license under a total of $10 per month, I’d be happy to hear about them).

        • Karl:

Should probably note that the 1GB VPS at UCVHOST is 1 CPU core (instead of 4), Using Parallels Power Panel (instead of KVM), compared to an ancient Pentium4/Celeron server (instead of E3/E5) and that the pricing at 11.69/mo is only if you prepay 3 years in advance, and half the storage. … I’m just sayin’

      • While it was also a huge waste of time for me and my staff, we have to allow customers to make their case and not rush them. You can’t really push a customer out the door and just say here is a refund, now go away, neither should you drag your feet as a hosting provider for a couple of dollars. This doesn’t mean that something like this should be turned into a drama.

“Provide your own license” was not an open invitation to “activate windows by any means”. Never mind that a bunch of customers have started using their servers like desktops and created problems for everyone else. We have cracked down on the abusers since then and gave them the option to switch to one of the other Operating Systems that we offer: Linux / FreeBSD / OpenBSD / NetBSD. Most other companies would have just canceled their accounts for breach of TOS or AUP.

  18. Here is a SerberBear.com benchmark that we just did on a Xeon E5 node (which is almost full by the way):

    UnixBench score: 2736.3

    I/O rate: 179.0 MB/second

    Bandwidth rate: 6.4 MB/second

    The rest is here: http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2012/10/02/GSvjJx1ATVWUFy4d

Each VPS comes with a 50Mbit private network connection – we don’t leave them open for bursting so that everyone gets plenty of bandwidth. 50Mbit = 6.3 to 6.4 MB/s

With 12 cores and 24 threads per server performance is extremely consistent.

    • Our TOS and AUP are written in plain language, which means that there are no terms in there that would require anyone to have a law degree in order to understand them. Please make an effort to read them if you intend to do some of that other fun stuff.

You can find these documents here:
      TOS: http://www.vpsnodebox.com/terms-of-service
      AUP: http://www.vpsnodebox.com/appropriate-use-policy

“Also, what’s the best coupon you have right now?”
      It’s on this page.

Thanks for talking down to me and not giving me the summarized answer I asked for. You’re clearly anti-consumer. Screw you too, buddy!

“Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying “my VPS is down, what do I do?!” will only have your comments removed.” <- LEB's own rules.

There was a reason, the IP was being attacked as such had to be nulled to protect the rest of the customers, you were simply impatient as such we did you the courtesy of fully refunding you since just about anything seemed unacceptable. I would advise you to stop harassing us and arguing for argument sakes. If we tell you there was an issue, that should be evidence enough, if the harddrive crashes in a server, do you want us to mail you the harddrive so you can verify this yourself?

it very import for leber to choose a good provider, this is just a tip, you can belive it or skip it.

Hi. I am looking for a KVM specifically because it offers FULL virtualization. I believe this includes CPU too, as I am intending to utilize your vps for extremely HIGH cpu usage. Is this against any rules?

Pretty good for a 7USD KVM VPS along the west coast I guess.

  28. Ok I have to say this, The server in my experiance doesn’t seem like that bad of a deal at first look as most servers offering 1gb ram at a low price (as much as I see it) is running on OpenVZ witch is bad because it really limits the user, but back to the server at hand. The server appers to be a good deal in more ways than one after you get it, for one the support is a++ to the point when you need anything your more than likely to get the same guy always witch I love, then the guy is always nice and fixes the issue you have in a orderly amount of time, and unlike my main VPS host they actualy email you when they are doing scheduled maintenance instead of relying on a twitter witch I absolutely hate, witch I find kinda rediculas considering I pay over 5 times more for that VPS although I get 10 ips and unlimited bandwidth w/ 1.5 gb ram and a 200gb hard drive. So yea thats my review of them, I would recommend them to anyone who needs a server for web hosting, icecast hosting, or practically anything that would work on this server!

Vps Node Box. I really like how you dealt with the erratic client which will remain nameless…

This to me shows how you would treat a client not like him ;)
