The performance was not so good when I used my vps with them, cancelled it now.

In November I got this nice benchmark:

    In December … this …

    • RootNerds UNHAPPY USER:

I have the same problem, it was so good when I bought it, and now its SHIT… It seems that a lot of users bought this and the node does not have enough resources, I’m not gonna pay the next month, nope. http://www.kimsufi.co.uk has dedicated servers which’s lowest plan can beat my current vps performance like nothing. bye bye rootnerds.

  3. Is that for sure, the 100MBit uplink? I already were with them but with “default” port speed which was pretty weak (normally you have to pay extra to just get 10MBit guaranteed!). Support was alright is what I can say.

    February 19, 2015 @ 3:08 pm | Reply
    • Took a look into it now: port speed (when you don’t pay extra) is still “default”, so the 100MBit is maybe peak, if even. I definitely didn’t ever reach it with the VPS I had with them some time ago.

      • Depends on which node you’re on, currently. This is subject to change in the future.

        • Is there any free way to get moved to another node with faster uplink? (könnt im Prinzip auch auf deutsch schreiben, aber vll interessierts die anderen ja auch)

    In the AUP:
“Upon breaking our Terms of Services, especially in relation of Spam – when we’re informed by a third-party, such as Spamhaus – we will suspend your VPS without any refund.

So wiping someone’s website hosted at RootNerds away is a piece of cake. Just send a complain with photoshopped screenshots as proof and presto.

Do you still ask 25 euros to enable second level quota on the vps?

The performance is became very very bad.

I am on node root6 and if thing goes like that i will move a way.

I think the node is overselling.

What kind of bottleneck do you notice? Is it Network, Storage, or CPU?
Are you able to run one of those vps benchmark scripts?
Would be interesting to know for us others who maybe also think about grabbing one.

      • Mahir:

Just to be fair, they have automated system which will migrate you to node root6 when your vps is making a high load on a long time.

My VPS made a very heavy load for long time and they migrate me to that node automatically with out my knowledge.

But when i open a support ticket regarding this issue, they tell me what happen and they said if i promise to not making such high load again they will migrate me back and that is what happened.

Now every thing goes very well on that node. and performance is very good.

  9. I liked this offer, and I saw some other offers on your site, so I went to your site, sat on live support for about 25 minutes than gave up – no one answered the request.

    • Hello Jim, Hello Neil,

thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately the forecast is completely incorrect. We’ll see to resolve this. There is only one staff who is working on the chat queue right now. In case you’re waiting long, please consider submitting a ticket which will usually be answered with 1-3 hours.

Yup, I think their philosophy of money over quality is showing now. Down from the past two days. Prior to that the last few months have been bad, but bearable. They were a pretty good company when we started.

    • Hello Sohail,

quality is very important to us. We’ve not had any two day outage (since opening). Please submit a ticket and let us know which VPS you’re having the problem with. We will always investigate and fix the problem if there should be any.

I’ve purchased the XL box from them. They set it up in no time.
But here comes the punchline. The 2 core CPU can’t beat a 0,5 core CPU at Host1Plus. UnixScore is around 240 at rootnerds. the benchmark. So think twice before purchasing from them.

Service looks good. I spent about an hour playing with it and everything seemed fine.

I ended up canceling the service though because latency from the US was about 200ms to 300ms which is just too much for me to put up with. SSH sessions were horribly laggy. This is not Rootnerd’s fault, there’s a giant ocean to cross but something to keep in mind if you’re in the US.

    TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE DEAL,
    Slow external connections,
takes forever to connect to Amazon S3,
paid for the 100 mb link upgrade,
    still no difference in speed,
    only difference was in upgrading
the monthly cost, honestly I don’t
think they even made the upgrade!

I’ve been with Rootnerds for several months now(VPS M) and I can’t say I’m disappointed. I’ve had only contact with their support once, but got my answer in a few hours.
    A serverbear Benchmark I did recently: http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2015/04/25/lMsDj055j5TrFEsG
The CPU and I/O suck indeed, but I never had problems any problems with the performance.

All in all I think their offer is really a bargain. I can’t think of a provider that offers the same amount of ram & disk in west Europe.

I have opened 2 tickets and send several email trough their form contact but i have not received any reply.

Usually in the past they offered a good support, can someone explain what is happening?

      Marco,

They are not responding to any type of ticket, I issued 2 tickets already to buy IPs to my servers and no answer, I believe that Rootnerds was sold, befor the ticket was answered sometimes less than 3 hours, no take days.
For illustration on Jan 17th they had a crash on the node 15, I had 2 servers on that node that was good for 2 years, they too 3 days to install a new node but with zipo inside nothing, so I asked if they had the normal backup, they told me yes, I had my own backup so my sites were up in 5 days, now for them to copy their backup on my server took about 21 days, I don’t know what they call customer service, after this last support I am moving on, the server was good but service now sucks.

Do NOT host ANYTHING important on these VPS’s.

My VPS has been down for 24 hours, it is offline and will not boot.

I have opened 3 support tickets and nobody has answered them.

I was hosting a mail server on the VPS and now the small firm that used it is left stranded with no email service and no emails.

Also, they oversell like crazy; 90% of the time the servers run so slow you can barely connect to them.

I wanted to like you RootNerds, I really did.

Worst hosting company I have dealt with.
