Before, they were awesome. Since they were sold, they played a tricky dirty game to my friend. They refuse to pay my friend who has introduced many customers to them. They set his affiliate system to not count the customers he introduces. My friend showed me how they delete old tickets and being not helpful and shitty.

Hi URPAD, if you don’t train your customer service to be helpful and if you want to play this game in a dirty way. I play with you. If you don’t care your own reputation, we help you ruin it.

      Be aware, customers and reviewers.

I’m not bullshitting here. I do have proves. I’ve got all the screenshots of how you customer service deleted my tickets and not being helpful. You seems to be helpful here, Chris. I’m not pointing to you. I’m referring to the people working for URPAD who have a bad attitude. This is not a blackmail. I just simply want this to be solved. That’s all. I’ve prepared a long review of this issue happened to me. I hope you can convince your “bad attitude” colleagues to face what they did and fairly solve the problem before I post it to all the forums. If you URPAD doesn’t care, I don’t care. I will email you all the evidence I have. Thank you.

Again, this thread is not talking about you, Chris. This is for URPAD.

I pray that nobody has issues with their billing. Every time I submitted a ticket to their billing department, it went to their Sales department, and those folks obviously don’t know what the heck they’re doing.

Was once a very satisfied customer with this company, however after their takeover by RootLevelTech, I’ve been hearing nothing but horror stories emanating from this host. However, to be fair, there are some people whom have had good experiences there, so I can’t say that the company is totally bad, but their support is messed up.

  10. UrPad is one of the “not so reliable” companies around here – after taking your money for a few months ahead, your support becomes low priority. My VPS is still suspended (including my WHMCS account) to this date, with the issue being completely ignored by them:

I would like to say as someone who had big problems with urpad in the past after they took away my encrypted KVM package and swapped it for OpenVZ in a different location and then wanted to know why they could not get to my data (lol) that the old time practices of the URPad gang should be over now, please give root level technology a fair chance, they seem to have improved the hardware and are spending a lot of money right now making sure they keep things sustainable.

Give them a chance guys rather than judge them on the old not so great ways!

Is urpad still using outsourced tech support? Had vps with you in the past, maybe last spring or summer. It was… idk, ‘okay’. Nothing great but not the worse experince I had (you didnt lose my data like another provider). But support was not good and seemed like it was indian outsourced. I need a vps for a vpn and for testing some project so I may try again.

        • In the section our equipment is located in the Quasar Data Center a cooling unit went out, causing some of our servers to draw more power for fans at once which overloaded the PDU causing it to throw it’s breaker.

We worked as Quickly as possible with the Quasar Data Center to resolve the cooling issue and get the affected servers back on as soon as possible.

I’m surprised that Root Level Technology allows their Director of Customer relations to display his ignorance and publicly make totally racist comments on sites that potential customers frequent like the following racist comment you made on vpsbboard in July Chris:

Chris Miller Director of Customer Relations for Root Level Technology said:

"Being civilized is something the black population has yet to achieve obviously."

The comment wasn’t taken out of context and I’m not the only person who has called you out for making that statement, and I’m not the only one who was offended at your ignorant blanket categorization of an entire race as being somehow uncivilized.

It was taken out of context you seemed to have left out the quote of the issue with them protesting an innocent man defending himself. But other then that you claim you were offended and others were about that statement that is your opinion and what you posted above is mine (Which you are falsely classifying as racist).

        • The Public Relations are not irrelevant at all – such racist public statements like the one that Mr. Chris Miller made, shows UrPad’s moral and “values”.

In many cases, such lack of moral and values speaks for the attitude of a company to it’s customers (like in this case for example).

Maybe they should add a “race” input field on the sign up page, so that they will know how to threat you as a customer ?

You’d better check your WHMCS setup, people complaining about “closed ticket”, when you open one, it remains there until you replied, after your replied, it vanishes, but when you click ‘tickets’ and search for it, it’s there, weird. That’s why people get a impression that you’re rude, etc.

Now I’m playing time-zone tag with the support department and it’s taking forever and they’re demanding a copy of government issued ID – for someone who is already a paying customer!

This deal is great and I’ve been satisfied overall with the VM I have with them (enough to order a second!) but the customer support really does need some work. :(

Just to follow up the people who seem to be long standing customers with better packages – I signed up for the $24 package on this page, from that you can expect the following.

Reporting back, still exactly the same, last I heard on the support ticket was “Lately our houston nodes were under ddos attacks and so you were facing the slowness. Once the attacks comes under control we will try to increase the network port speed.”, this is one long long attack.

I see a lot of complaining here so I’ll speak up. I’ve had a URPad VPS (at their LA location) for one year without any issues. I recently asked them to migrate my server to their Houston location and their support team was fast, friendly and outgoing. They did me a favor basically without a fuss. Before them I was using a much more well known, and more expensive company and the service with the other company was much poorer so I am very happy with URPad.

URPAD also deleted my files instead of no due invoice. Strange.

I had opened ticket as soon as I received the email “Service suspension notification”, raising a false obligation of overdue invoice. When my service was still alive. Though a new Houston VPS has been created for me but my files has gone. I only want files back. It is very important for me. I have no recent backup. You should ask me before deletion of the vps.

Rather than purchasing a VPS from them, it would be better to give the money to a beggar. I have a VPS with them on their HUSTON Node and I receive pingdom notice daily without any fail. They go down for atleast 20 minutes daily.

Moreover, none of their OS templates are working properly. UBUNTU template will stuck in the middle. Debian will not install properly. Centos will not upgrade. During the installation, they will go real down. Right now, I am running an update to their default Centos 6 template. It has taken about 30 minutes already for updating 5 packages out of 380 updates.

  43. I just recently renewed the $12 256 mb plan for my second year with URPad, not realizing there was a 512 mb deal for the same price. The renewal email from URPad made no mention of the new deal, which makes me feel a bit disgruntled. Wish I had checked here first!

On a more pleasant note, service has been acceptable for my needs. I use it mostly to monitor freenode chat channels for a software testing group I am involved in, with irssi as my home connection is dodgy. So I know when my VPS goes down, since irssi is running 24/7. Rarely has it been down more than a couple hours, and I don’t think it has been more than 6 times over the last year. That is acceptable to me for the price. I am ready to order the $12/512 mb plan on top of my existing one, hoping to expect the same quality of service. Chris Miller: any chance of upgrading my original 256 mb VPS to 512?

I was moderately satisfied with URPad: The IO was acceptable, the Connection speed good most of the time, but often enough, the host was unreachable for a few minutes for no apparent reason.

Then they decided to move the VPS to USA telling me Europe is not available. At least I got a refund. I am surprised they offer iceland again. WTF man.

these guys are the worst provider ever, nearly 24 hours down time… I don’t know what they are doing but forget them. They are down so often it’s just plain annoying.

Unfortunately, the experience in URPad has been disappointing and bad. Server down for 4 months, unrecoverable info. No explanations, no money back. In this moment, my server is not accesible from June. The ticket support don’t response. Now I’ll try another provider to see if the experience is better. I hope.
