Ken from Virpus emailed me about VirtuPulse, a new VPS brand with more customisable options that let you build your own VPS. The plan starts from $5/month with the following spec
- 512MB guaranteed/2048MB burstable memory
- 30GB storage
- 5Mbps unmetered bandwidth, or 1000GB/month data on 100Mbps port
- 2 IP addresses
Servers are in Kansas City, and I guess backed by the same support staffs as Virpus (which has mixed reviews when you search around). I have used Virpus earlier this year for about 2 months to test out several things. It was a relative old box (last generation Opterons), but the stability was not bad.

i tried virpus. believe me they sucks big time. very bad experience.
Funny that ubuntu 10.04 is only x86 :-/
You can reinstall your OS with Ubuntu 10.04 Minimal x64 from the VPS control panel.
@Erslan:Could you please tell us more about your bad experience which will be quite helpful…
I have virpus account since feb,2010. I have no problem so far.
His data center located in wholesaleinternet.com.
Virpus Bad Company..I have Many Problem There..
@pinguin: this plan really sounds attractive to me so i am hesitant at the moment. Can you give us a little bit more specific information? I will appreciate it
@scyllar VirtuPulse is same with Virpus….They Have One Management…They Have One Support…I Very – very Know Support Virpus..Bad…Very Long time Support…Network is Bad…Down more than 24 Hours…
i have 3 vps with virpus for two weeks, it went down once for a while, after that i didn’t have any problem with them. Ken from virpus gave me support well. I think i will try virtupulse as well
update, just ordered. let’s see how it goes. Waiting for activation
@Dwi
Yeah let us know.. I just canceled my VPS with Virpus cause I was on an older Opteron, unixbench 4 was like 90-230. I think Virtupulse is on newer hardware.
ibunk,
I was able to pull up your account based off the website you mentioned on your post. You signed up for our service, and canceled before we even got a change to provision your account. Therefor your comments are out of line and complete lies. If need-be, I’ll post proof of such as well.
Additionally, we use Core i7’s and Core2Quads for new setups. We no longer provision on our Opterons.
scyllar,
Erslan’s issue was with DirectAdmin. Our staff for some reason were not able to successfully install DA on their system (despite many successful installs that day). Regardless of a re install, for some reason their DA just wouldn’t work. It could of been DA doing some updates, but I’m not sure.
My 4th vps with virpus has online now. Went smooth.
@ Virpus – ibunk’s link leads to a hosting company who appear to specialise in warez hosting. I doubt anyone with half a brain would believe anything they say, since their business revolves around dishonesty.
I was with Virpus for a month, and during this time I used support couple times and cannot say a bad word. Apart from the fact that they claim to have their nodes “with at least 12GB of memory” where mine was on a 4GB one, everything was perfect. And before anyone asks – I moved away as I get way better deal somewhere else and my linux skills got somewhat better. And as I mentioned before, I was able to score just under 900 with the benchmark which I think is way more that can be expected for that money.
eM,
I think you’re speaking of burstable RAM. We have no systems under 12 GB even for legacy systems. The only reason you would see 4 GB of RAM is with burstable RAM.
But thank you for your comments :) Much appreciated.
4 GB burst would explain it. I was wondering how he can tell how much Ram the server has.. so I guess eM was on the U-Advanced plan which is why he probably got a higher bench results..
Not sure why so many people complain about the service.. have to admit initially support was somewhat lacking but the VPS was reliable, so I didn’t really need the support. I canceled cause I might give Virtupulse a try..
Eh, I have mixed feelings about Virpus. For the first month I was with them, they were excellent. Then the server I was on started having problems. It took them a whole month to fix the problem. Each staff member had a different excuse to why the server was down. It was down more often that it was up. According to their blog, they replaced that server though, but I had already left by then.
Support is always very fast, no matter what time it is. I had 9 support tickets with them (all about the server going down), and I always got a reply within 30 minutes.
My Invoice Still Not Accept….How can I paid ?? I have contact Billing..But No Respon ?? May Be Ken Sleeping…just Ken..Support in Billing Dept….
Huh…
I bought two vps same day, one is from virpus network (this post plan). Both server had Centos 5.5, tried to update with yum command via putty ssh. another one finished at only one or two minutes, virpus take minimu 20-25 minutes. I tried same thing few times, same result every time i tried.
@ Moin Uddin too bad you smoked it for no reason.
Thanks guys for your information. Now I know what to do :)
When it sounds too good to be true, at least ask someone here.
Thanks Moin Uddin for your short review!
Plan: 512mb RAM, 30gb space, 1000gb bandwidth. Benchmark taken on Cent OS 5 (64-bit).
@ Moin Uddin
Have you opened a ticket? This is not normal, and it sounds like you’re possibly experiencing a DNS issue. If your situation is what you would expect from us, we’d possibly be out of business.
@ scyllar
Part of researching, is that you must read and analyize. You should never take one persons word and just run with it without even analyzing their claims. That’s like someone telling you that the world will end tomorrow, and you believing it. But I’m sorry that Moin Uddins very vague ‘review’ convinced you not to sign up, and as proof from Evo’s benchmarks, our nodes are solid and high performance for the price you pay.
@ safitri – I personally responded to your ticket during business hours, so not sure why you’re saying you’re not getting responses. Note that WE DO HAVE BUSINESS HOURS, and outside of those hours, all admin departments are closed – the result – you will not get a response until the next business day. You need to read all e-mails you get from us. Your ticket confirmation clearly (16 pt bold with the color red) states our business hours. If you decide not to read it – that’s your own fault however coming here to say you’re not getting responses is not fair to us.
@scyllar Virtupulse and virpus offer 7 days money back guarantee.
In this case, you should try it yourself for 7 days.
I have no down time with virpus since I signed up them in feb,2010.
Just ordered mine, let’s see how long it takes to be set up :)
Under 2 hours! not bad :)
Pending my order for 2 days ftw. . . . . Vir guy i posted a ticket already man my time is running my money is losing
Francis,
Note that per our website, activations are done during business hours. If you opened a ticket, it also states that we only respond during business hours within the e-mail confirmation as well.
It’s highly important that you read so that you understand how we operate.
Your VPS just finished its install, and will be delivered shortly.
To avoid any confusion in the future, refer to our website and be sure that you understand the content we post on our website.
@Evo: I have the same VPS, yet our benchmark results vary quite a lot. Is yours for a clean VPS, no control panel, no sites? I have CentoOS (32bit) and Kloxo installed. A few domains are hosted on the server yet they’re all domains with no traffic/no site.
My results:
The test was taken on a clean CentOS – only apache was running. The results also depends on the current load of the whole node.
On website its written … upon prepayment of at least 6 months get cpanel free … if paid for 6 month is the total price = $25 for 6 months? and that too including cpanel(free?)? or am I misunderstanding something? also if true … will the price and offer last a lifetime?
Regards
Parag
@Parag
I think they well stated it at the bottom of homepage,
“When prepaying at least 6 months on an order that equates to $25/mo…”
So that’s it, $25/mo. Means your initial payment should > $150.
