Good price for Xen HVM VPS. But AFAIK they don’t have good reputation.

I’m a bit confused. Is Windows 2008 licensed included in the HVM cost? Because it seems to cost the same as Linux.

Yeah it’s included. You just mount the Windows 2008R2 image, install it and submit a ticket for them to activate it.
They have good uptime and support is well then.
As kinda noted in the write-up, I can’t get the USD pricing indicated here on their site.
After you fill in the server name + password, click on Update Cart to go to the Shopping Cart page, you can then choose the currency.
I think that this option don’t work for existing customers. Once you log in, $ is only option.
It uses the currency On your profile. Myn is GBP

I’ve got 3 VPS with thrust VPS, one on east/west/central, the speed is slow to okay, but at times you can really feel the box is oversold with big waits seemingly unrelated to what I’m actually doing. Also they constantly (okay probably ~1 time per week average) restart one of the servers I’m on, which is annoying. I use them as backups, wouldn’t recommend them for anything live.

Pretty weird. I boot the VPS and connect via VNC and only get a blank screen and after about a minute the VPS goes back too offline.
Reinstall the OS, or reboot, SolusVMs VNC is a bit… Buggy.
I have 4 VPSs with them, 3 in UK, one in East Coast US, all run pretty well.
The reinstall option is blank, and the reboot button is stuck. I’ll see if it unlocks itself tomorrow.
I have the same problem, I installed Windows Server 2008 R2, but I can’t really reinstall the operation system, and when I want to connect with VNC, I have a blank screen and it disappears :(
Have a production HVM VPS with them currently. Actually, I have this VPS for like 7 months and just put into production mode 2 months ago.
Sometimes it feels like it’s either choking on CPU or I/O… but it’s better than some of the budget providers I’ve tried. Uptime is pretty good. Very little to none downtime.
I was with them for two months. It ranged from slow to decent. Support was pretty good. One downside was if you order an addon, you would have to open a ticket or you’d never get it. No idea if they’ve worked out this problem yet. I don’t have much to comment on.

After a shaky start with my Xen HVM VPS in Germany, I can say I’m pretty pleased with it so far. Though my past experience with Thrust was pretty awful.
Same here, first experience was awful. SolusVM HVM is just poor.

Finally got Windows running on it. Windows 2008 R2 is pretty unstable on the HVM, however 2003 seems fine.
They were great when they first started up, but then lag and more problems kept popping up as they loaded up the nodes. I bought like 4 VPSes from them within my first month, and now I’m down to 2, as I’ve been cancelling each one as performance got unacceptable.
Thrust::VPS, that’s interesting. Rus used you run FCKVPS a couple of years back – that started pretty reliably. I must admit I’ve heard some horror stories of Thrust, hopefully that’s just Chinese whispers.
Grabbed an instance to have a play with :).
I ordered a Xen and a OpenVZ from them to test. In one month both of them lost connection to the internet for 1+ hour in 3 separate occasions.
The Openvz had extremely high spikes of iowait. Your shell will randomly pause for 5-10 seconds. I asked Rus to move my VPS which he said it would only take 24 hours. Somehow he forgot about me and it took almost a week to get moved.
Using the links I could not seen that price, specially in Dollar (not Euro).
Other thing: in the price you see there, 10.95$, if you get 33% you will need to pay $7.33 and not $5.95 like is describe in its home page.
Can anyone explain it better?

I have bought a UK HVM intending to install debian. So far I have got nowhere. Whilst the range of OS’s offered looks impressive I have found it impossible to load any of the Debian installations I have tried. The autoinstall images fail at load time with error messages about kernel panics and failure to mount root fs, whilst the debian install DVDs get as far as network configuration and then just hang after (apparently) attempting to contact one of the network mirrors for the rest of the installation. Raising tickets with the “tech support” team appears futile. They have not helped and have simply bounced me back to sales.

The same problem. Finally I changed hvm to pv, and I can say that it is working very well.
So I decided to get one of these and do a speed test.

I got their cheapest OpenVZ offer. I can’t recommend it because I/O is very very slow.
I bought my son one of Thrust’s Xen PV servers in the UK to learn Linux (that’s my idea for what it’s for) and as a minecraft + possibly other games server (that’s his idea of what it’s for :) )
So far so good. The email saying our server was ready arrived within the 48 hours setup time specified (in fact it arrived earlier than I expected it to, because I’d ordered late on Friday, and I didn’t expect the 48 hours to include the weekend – but it did, so obviously they don’t watch Top Gear :-) )
I can’t compare with other VPS since I’ve never used one before, but having read a lot of posts I went in half expecting to hit problems and issues and half thinking that some of the threads I’d found on the internet (not here) were from folks who sounded a little bit OTT TBH. I’d found a couple of people who’d posted that they were using thrust to host minecraft servers.
I’m pleased to say, I haven’t had any issues at all to date, and the machine runs really well. My son’s had minecraft running with a peak of 19 people on it – I don’t think he expected anyone to join either, so he was happy. Today we installed left 4 dead 2 and Garry’s mod to see how they would run, and they both worked fine too.
Our ping to the server is around 20-30, which is great, probably as good as any of the UK game servers I play on frequently.
So I’d recommend their UK VPS servers.
Very bad net connection to the vps.
Goes anywhere from 7mb down/up to 30 max. and that was only once.
When they are sitting on a 100mbps line.
