LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

NFPHosting - VPS Resource Pools starting at 2 VPS @ $15/yr & much more in LA, NY, and CHI!

The folks over @ NFP Hosting has recently sent in a new offer for us! They are offering VPS Resource Pools starting at just $15/year for 2 VPS’s. We’ve been told that three locations are currently available for deployment within the pool (Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago) – however as they expand to additional locations, it will automatically be added to the pool for you to deploy in.

You can find their ToS/Legal Docs here. They accept PayPal, Credit Cards, Alipay, Ethereum and Bitcoin.

More about the company:

“NFPHosting.com was founded in 2006 as an e-commerce hosting provider after seeing the lack of hosts who can deliver quality. Throughout the years of learning the ins and outs of running a hosting company, and seeing the opportunities to expand in the marketplace, NFP Hosting throughout the years added additional services to serve a wider variety of markets. NFP Hosting today offers everything the basic consumer looking to start a website may need, all the way up to the advanced (technical) user looking to set up a cluster of servers. At NFP Hosting, there is no waiting around. Services are instantly provisioned, and 24/7 customer support comes standard with our plans. No compromises. No excuses. It’s really as simple as that.”

        Hi kiko,

Have a single KVM with them – running without problems.

        CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAD a 24 VPS resource pool with them. COMPLETE DISASTER & AND NO REFUND after 3 days (!!!! HAHAHA, NO REFUND SYSTEM).

        – Resources “not available” and VPS DOWN AFTER (!) resources assigned and VPS installed
        – NO resources for the smallest VPS in BUF/CHI – ONLY LA
        – BUF/CHI VERY SLOW – so above is actually a saver BUT it means only ONE location
        – Control panel frequently unreachable/ does not load IF loaded actions SLOW as MOLASSES

        – Standard response from support “It seems to be working on our end”
        – (They DO have another panel @ :4085 which seems to be more responsive (perhaps running in LA) – However, my pool is on @ :4083 which is useless… (I GAVE UP trying after 3 month and check-in occasionally for testing purposes).

After 6 month I have nothing but re-install AND not working/stable. LOST two customers and migrated 3 “just in time” … I guess I did not even get what I paid for – complete scam! TAKE YOUR CHANCE – spend your money on a lottery ticket instead …

We are going to have to agree to disagree. I bought a resource pool from them in one of NFP’s prior offers, it was unusable. Resources unavailable to use. VPS’s unusable, grossly oversold. Useless and non-responsive tech support one of the worst experiences with hosting I have ever had.

I took up their Black Friday offer and their OpenVZ server are non-responsive most of the time!

Contacted support and they would deal with the abusers but there seem to be too many. Even right now, my VPS at LA is slow load. Fyi, my website is not even live.. so its zero traffic at the moment.

My request for full refund has been rejected as its been almost a month now. My server is not accessible and yet they could ask “How can we make you Happy?”…

The server is super slow everyday.

I had to contact support all the time, and they will respond with “We have resolved your issue now. Kindly verify it from your end.”

And then a while later, the server is slow loading again.

How many times I need to contact support? Their server is completely not use-able!

Fyi, the CPU usage is high but its not being consumed by me. I am never getting OpenVZ anymore.

I must ask because I cannot find an answer on the internet. What is the difference between a regular unmanaged VPS and a VPS resource pool? Is my internet activity shared with other users or what?

    December 26, 2018 @ 8:27 am | Reply
    • JSP:

      Hi Jacob,
Both are essentially the same. I was with a provider who gave me the option to really mix and match the resource. I could create a VPS with CPU maxing at the number of cores provided, RAM maxing at what was available, Attach upto as many IPs as was available, Disk space and Swap, maxing to what was available.

Essentially, you can have as many VPS’s as per the number of IP addresses or CPU cores available. Still have not seen anyone allow you to decide based on ports open. You provision the resource as per need. It is not your provider fixing the size of the instance. The best part is you can create an instance in any of the data centers which are provisioned for providing this service.

TUN / TAP other features will be available for each VPS as per policy of your provider. So, essentially you are having ability to create as many or as few dedicated instance. And NO, activity is not shared. You have as much privacy as a regular unmanaged VPS.

I hope it helps and have a wonderful NEW YEAR 2019.

      Best Wishes,
      JSP

NFPHosting is absolutely awful. Had to have a new account created on another mode shortly after joining, but they never deactivated the old one, and DNA settings somehow bled through. After rebuilding the server a couple of times, I got it fixed. After that, the VPS has gone down literally every other day with no logs. In their panel it shows “suspended”, even though I’m within all limits. Support won’t give any explanation and they refuse to refund my money, saying I should just upgrade instead. Avoid avoid avoid.

I think I just wasted $45 for a VPS pool with them. The performance is awful especially the disk io is less than 20MB/s most of the time. Simple system update might took hours. SSH login took more than 30 secs is normal. My app keep getting timeout even the CPU and Mem usage are less than 1%. Keep away from them, this box is really sucks

I am having some real slowness issues too. Control panel is also down currently.
Opening a ticket hoping they can permanently resolve, because VPS is unusable right now.

For example simple command: “sudo whoami”
Took 27 seconds before the password prompt came up, then another 17 seconds before it printed the output.
Running the exact same command a second time took 12 seconds.

Servers are unresponsive many times, sometimes on daily basis. Support is poor and unresponsive as well and control panels are not working like they should. What is the use of a control panel if i can’t use it to start/reboot the machine?

Stay away, better pay a few box more and find a reliable service.

      – Slow loading 90% of the time.

      – Their Control Panel is offline sometime
      – Support is slow and always in denial.

Don’t use this provider. I do not recommend it the VPS is a joke in terms of performance.
It will take at least few minutes to get in to SSH. and If you try to install any packages.

You will also get a complementary grandmas lesson on politics and communication.
And if you want to learn how to get angry, try to use this service provider.
Yes I am an active user and I regret every minute since I used their service.
I have use three services from them. two KVM service: sincerely.ai and may8.date
And one VPS Reseller which they heavily advertises but performances so bad that I want to terminate all the services.

And don’t buy into their “Add Funds” feature on the billing, because you leave with no leverage on your rights to refuse bad services.

Again, I do not recommend to use this services. Go with something like h2hosting.com, godaddy. those are more expensive but at least you got guaranteed services. (But if you really suck at not to argue as a programmer, then is best to build your own server and pay the overhead to buy your own server farm. Yes is expensive, but drag America cloud services down is the way to go… Private cloud is the way to go…)

To programmers, your controls is your world, and if you host your world under someone’s finger, you technically is a slavery under someone’s control. consider amazon’s story on screw up Amazon S3 many sites are down. If you and your team screw up is okay, but if you pay someone specialized to host your world and that other people screw up your world is not okay. I already commented about this poor service, but i will do it again, only to warn people to avoid these clowns.

Again my VPS is offline, again no response from support for many hours now, their userpanel is not working as well, so no control at all.
Now it’s just waiting for a response which will probably inform me that everything is working fine and that they fixed this issue. This happens over and over and it’s annoying to say the least, by now i lost count how many times this did happen so far….

Luckily my rental period is almost over and am already shopping for a better service. To find a better service should not be that difficult because about any will do. Worst experience ever!

    Stay away…

just wanted to leave this review here to tell people to avoid NFP. I’ve been hosting with them for 15 months now, and have had issues every month with them.

    1. they keep shutting my VPS down on their end when my cpu load averages above 10%.
    2. their support tells me they’ll delete my vps and give me a new one if it goes above 10%, so basically, a threat to delete my webapp.
    3. their support is 100% garbage and prob some sucker overseas trying to do all these tickets for pennies a day.

Lowendbox Should stop reflecting NFP Hosting offerings. This firm is a joke, and it’s straight up theft. I’m surprised someone hasn’t dox’d this admin and beat the shit out of him yet. The first two VPS’s I purchased from them worked alright for the first four months, and then became completely unusable because of I/O. I stupidly purchased a reseller package from shortly after buying the first two and now that has become unusable because they oversold that. This is outrageous.

DO NOT BUY. Bad Service, I bought a VPS in Chicago with an instant setup as they claim. I had to wait a whole day before they activate my order and they deploy it in New York. the take several hours to respond to the tickets. each time with a totally different answer. I asked for cancellation if I didn’t get a response I’m calling the bank to dispute the transaction.
