LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

LowEndBox on Short Hiatus

Hey. Just a short notice here that I will be having a short hiatus. I’ve been getting emails almost daily inquiring about this blog, and sorry that I have not been responding.

First of all. My computer died. It was no where near low end either (Dell Latitude business laptop), but somehow the hard drive just decided to die on me. ddrescue has been running for 2 days and no guarantee that it’s going to be fixed. So far I am counting it as total lost — very frustrated.

On the other hand there is also Easter holidays, which I will be away from computers to actually get near to mountains and beaches for 4 days. I will be back on 6 April and hopefully I’ll be able to borrow a computer somewhere to continue my posting.

Happy Easter everyone!

  3. In the same boat. Had someone (go out of their way and) trip over my power cord and stretched the cord a couple of inches where it was beginning to fray. The replacement has been backordered for about three weeks now. Stuck with using the local library’s locked down computer terminals. Lots of fun.

    Unlucky. :( I suppose it’s an excuse to upgrade even further? Hopefully it’s in warranty. :)

    Have a great easter break.

  9. Actually, this seems to be a bad couple weeks for Dell laptops. I just had to replace the entire back assembly holding up the LCD because it just busted a couple days ago.

    Spring air, maybe? Good luck though with the data recovery (forgot to say this in my last post)

  11. I am back from my Easter break! Although the lappy stays dead.

    @king — I am sure if you drove enough miles you’ll be able to reach mountains and beaches. That’s pretty much what I did.

    @ui — No April Fools for me. Sorry I am still a little bit depressed from the dead hard drive (especially when I had a ton of my kids’ photos/videos on it that I have no yet processed and moved to my file server). :(

    @Chuck — I do not think it is the spring air. I do think have a good continuous desktop backup strategy would be my top priority at the moment.

    @Malcolmputer — thanks. I’ll check them out.
