2019 Best VPS Provider - As voted by the Low End Talk Community!

Every year the Low End Talk community puts together a vote to decide on the prior year’s best VPS providers. This year the effort was devoted by Low End Talk member FAT32, who deserves credit and thanks for his contribution. Further thanks to all of the Low End Talk members and moderators who took part in the 2019 Best Providers Awards and a thank you to all of the providers who took part in this year’s vote and to those who offered and won prizes.

And so, as the image above suggests, the winners for the 2019 Best VPS Providers Award are:

  1. Virmach
  2. BuyVM
  3. Hetzner

All three of the hosting providers above are power houses in the market and are known for their long term reliability. VPS hosting provider Virmach has an especially significant following on Low End Talk, where their 2019 Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale was among the most popular threads on Low End Talk in 2019!

The provider rated by our Low End Talk community for the best public relations is:

  1. NexusBytes

To the providers who were voted but did not place in the top 3, keep up the good work and there is always next year.

Virmach number 1 ? With bad reviews, broken cpanels, HUGE prices ? How much did VirMach payed for this “AWARD” ?

    March 2, 2020 @ 2:16 pm | Reply
    • This was a vote done by the LET community. Most the “bad reviews” are not valid, but of course I’m biased. If anyone has questions on what happened in those situations they’re free to ask. If you have issues with cPanel, I recommend contacting us. As for huge prices, since you are mentioning cPanel, you can get cPanel webhosting for $5/yr. VPS starts at $12.50 per year and these are non-discount rates. What pricing are you interested in?

Really funny, I have some time with Virmach and is one of the worst services that i was used, in last migration lost almost of my websites.

    March 10, 2020 @ 2:46 pm | Reply
    • We wouldn’t have lost anything during a migration.

I believe you are speaking of an OpenVZ to KVM conversion, because that is the only scenario I can think of where certain files would not have synced or settings may have required updating.

Anyway, we back up your data, then we copy it over to the new virtual server. If anything went wrong, we would still have the data on the original OpenVZ as well as its backup. We actually have preserved everyone’s data still for migrations we completed 6 months ago, in case anyone comes forward with problems.

Most people are happy because the migrations went well for 98% and they received KVM virtualization at no additional cost. Many hosts did not move to KVM because of the extra costs, however, we wanted to provide great service so we did and we kept pricing the same. But of course 2% of tens of thousands and there are bound to be a few people that faced issues and they are very vocal about their experience. In the end though, I want to be very clear. Not a single person lost their data as a result of this because we had the old service ready to be powered back on with the same data in case issues occurred.

I’ve had pretty bad experience with virmach.
    1. They decided to move my machine from UK to US without any prior warning. I specifically chose virmach because of their EU location. Didn’t manage to configure my network too, so it was not working until i submitted a ticket.
    2. Started to suspend my machine, claiming it’s suddenly having more disc I/O. Nothing like that. Then it stopped after a while.
    3. Few months later (now), my machine is unreachable even though the panel says it’s ok. Found out the same issue last week too.

    • 1. That is not something we would have done without e-mailing you in advance. You would have received a migration e-mail detailing everything and there would also be a network issue created on our site. You would not have been moved to the US from EU. As for networking, a few VMs may face rare issues when we migrate on a mass scale, especially if they are also converted. Creating a ticket is the right way to proceed in that case if you are unsure how to resolve it yourself.

      2. We would have logs of the abuse, which we can provide if you ask. I don’t believe you “suddenly” had higher usage like that but it’s very possible you were already utilizing a high amount in the past but our detection methods changed when you moved over to KVM virtualization. We wouldn’t have just randomly started to suspend you. You receive other communication before suspension. If you immediately got suspended then it was in combination with something else perhaps. Unfortunately I do not have the details to further explain.

      3. The panel only states if it’s online or offline. It doesn’t state if it’s “okay” in the sense that everything’s okay. Nothing in the panel would claim that. If your service is “online” and the VNC functions then it appears to be a networking issue and you should consider opening a technical support ticket, provide your service credentials, as well as MTR results and we can help.
