LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

2HOST - $5.21 Xen VPS with 256MB

2HOST Via this WHT offer. Here is another new offer from 2HOST. Disclaimer — I am currently hosting LowEndBox.com on one of their VPS in St. Louis. Another things to note — their offer seems to get worse and worse over time. Still great deal for a Xen VPS, but long gone was the day that you can get 512MB Xen for 5 bucks/month. Instead, for $5.21/month you can get the following package:

  • 256MB memory/512MB swap
  • 15GB storage on RAID10
  • 1,000GB/month data transfer
  • 2 CPU core2
  • Xen/SolusVM

Order it on this link. Servers are in Asheville NC. Tom from 2HOSt wrote to me saying that they have just set up 15 new nodes and want to load them up. Here is a promo code to get 75% off 1st month — L0W3ND2H0ST. Sorry the discount is not recurring.

I guess they finally realized that a $5 512MB VPS isn’t financially feasible (for Xen at least). Especially with Netriplex hiking their power prices.

  4. I had one of those 5$/month VPS. It worked really well, until the moment they shut it down due to non-payment. Somehow they deactivated the automatic paypal subscription and I wasn’t aware of that… The deleted my VPS with all the website in there, leaving me with empty hands, and no change to get the VPS back at the same rate…

Please be aware of this paypal thing. Besides that no complaints. Support was fast and efficient. I guess that a 5$ VPS is not profitable enough for a company.

How fast are you guys finding support (ie average response time)? I saw some threads complaining about their support speed on WHT so I’m curious if they’ve improved.

Looks like they don’t offer monthly term anymore — they don’t even offer quarterly or semi annual.

Seems kindy sketchy to me? Personally, I’m not crazy about paying someone for a year of service.

Looks like they only offer annual/biannual payment now… Does that strike anyone else as a little fishy?

Even if they’ll be around that long, being locked in for 12 months makes me uncomfortable.

  15. Doh that’s no good. I probably won’t do 12 months myself. Not because the provider might potentially do a runner, but my need might change before the contract is up.

More than 30 hours, my ticket was not answered, when I make a new registration and will pay the VPS when they reply my ticket. In fact, no one who lived on their site. This is not a Sunday or holiday. Forget them. Be careful. If you do not believe I will provide the information that I sent a ticket. Too bad.

The order page now says $5.99/mo and $59.99/yr ($4.99/mo). This is in direct contrast to what’s posted here, and on WHT. Would 2HOST care to comment?

I was going to give these guys a try cause Lowendbox seems pretty fast on their servers. Initially they were sold out, and when it was available.. it seems every time I refreshed the order page the price would increase. So i decided to just not bother!

I’d avoid these guys. I canceled my account with them (poor service – they never answered tickets or emails), but they simply won’t do it. And they still show me as owing money for another billing cycle when I canceled and received a confirmation during the first cycle.

  29. DO NOT take on these guys, they are incompetent and untrustworthy.
their network is terrible. 100K/s to maximum 300K/s which means 1-2mbps
Support is terrible too, they have no clue about anything. their answers are just so out of idea. and it seems automated.

in my tickets about network issue they said

“This issue has been forwarded to Netriplex for further research.”

Well, it’s been a week. they dont care at all about the customer.
