    • I’m not aware of said issue, please note that we use Coinbase to process our Bitcoin payments. After a payment has been made through Bitcoin, it can take a few minutes for the payment to clear within the Coinbase network, resulting to a slight delay in processing your order. That’s just how Bitcoin payments work.

I just placed a test order and was not able to replicate the issue. I am however interested to learn more details about the issue that you saw. At your earliest convenience, please send me an e-mail at julian @ alpharacks.com

I have not services with this provider but the policy of refunds of only 3 days (that are really 2 days after refresh NS) only can be a bad signal of the quality of service, you pay for a complete year of service and receive only 3 days of guarantee.

    June 7, 2017 @ 12:45 pm | Reply
    • Peter, while this is the official policy set in stone on our terms of service, every company has to have certain rules “officially” in their TOS. This does not mean we’re not flexible or not willing to work with people.

We are large enough to stay in business and to provide excellent pricing, but small enough to care about our customers. We work with customers on a case by case basis, and in most cases we do bend the rules and make exceptions to our TOS. We strive to be as accommodating as possible and provide personalized service.

I was tempted by the low prices and great specs on a previous offer but there is an obvious downside – grossly oversold servers and a network that is very sporadic in terms latency and throughput. I got tired of the incompetent support staff and constantly opening tickets about the same issues that were never addressed.

Interesting offer, and I think they are targeting an interesting price point for what they are offering. Unfortunately, my experience has been closer to Michael’s above. At first my instances were responsive and the network consistent, but as more offers appeared here on LEB and through their email marketing efforts the QoS went downhill, to include their tech support. Finally I just got frustrated with their low-level support being unresponsive and let my instances go idle.

I think it’s a shame because I think they are trying and might have the right equipment and price point, but there seems to be a disconnect between their support and marketing departments. Just my two cents.

Background: I’m a tech savvy person. I’ve been using everything from shared hosting all the way up to colocation space throughout my career in IT for the past 20 years. I can easily spot the differences between a good and a bad host.

    My experience with Alpha Racks:

I have been using Alpha Racks since October of 2015. Fast forward to today, nearly 2 years later I couldn’t be happier with them!

Their prices are competitive (I can’t recall anyone who is cheaper). But I believe in the quality that they provide, more than I care about price. They have proven time and time again that they are a competent bunch of people and know what they’re doing. There has been some occasions where I had inquiries for the support team and they always answered rapidly.

What REALLY impressed me was the DDoS protection that they provide. My websites on occasion get attacked by the random skid, and they have tanked the attack every time without any issue (my server and website stayed online even during the attack!)

I must admit, I wasn’t expecting their DDoS protection to be this effective for what I’m paying, but trust me it works really well.

Overall if you’re looking for a good deal, if you’re looking for a good value, I give Alpha Racks a 10/10 rating. Keep it up!

    -K.

I have an alpharacks vps, and while I like it and it has worked great so far, they can’t seem to keep FUSE working on the openvz setup. It worked for the first few weeks, and randomly works when I ask that it get setup again, but I just gave up asking anymore, since it never stays working. But they always respond well to the tickets, just can’t get it to keep running.

Their openVZ containers are not secure! I had 2 rootkit incidents within 2 months period. Both were discovered by myself within hours. They don’t seem to have the expertise to a security problem most likely coming from the host level.

I have an OpenVZ VPS with alpharacks for about 4 months now, and absolutely no issues to report here…

        • Ming, as others have suggested I would suggest you secure your VPS. Some basic methods I recommend is not just making sure your password is secure but also changing the default SSH port. I have also seen some clients run clamav antivirus.

Hi all. I am their customer for 2.5 years. I would say that for the price it is reasonable, but do not expect miracles. I would not use their VPS for anything else than fun project and some testing.

In the past I had problems with download speeds (for example package updates took forever). Their support is not the best either. I have a cancellation request stuck in administration for half a year. Every time I pay I have to followup with support ticket as it does not show up. My slow download speed ticket was closed without a resolution (and the reason was that I did not respond in 72 hours, however it was them who stopped responding). I even wrote email to Julian without response. Anyway, the problem was probably resolved, as my latest test shows reasonable speeds.

Other than that, it worked, uptime was great.

So my recommendation, as I have said earlier, for the low price, it is reasonable. Do not expect great service, do not use it for anything serious.

I really was hoping for the best here with AlphaRacks. I brought the vps, and for the first time since I’ve been buying vpses, I can’t access it via ssh.

I mean comeon Alpharacks. Get your stuff together. Why can’t I access my VPS after I purchased it, and you sent me the information with my ip address and I even rebooted the server. Still no luck.

I can’t say I can recommend them now. It’s not very acceptable to not be able to access your VPS right away. So far AlphaRacks is a horrible experience. FYI: I just registered Saturday 8:08 EST 6/10/2017

I became an Alpha customer after the last offer they had on here. I just had to with these price points! And I gotta say you definitely get more than what you pay for with this service! I’ve never had an issue with support tickets, someone always responded within a couple of hours at the slowest. The speeds are very quick most of the time. Although there was a point about a couple weeks after I got my VPS where it was incredibly slow if I could connect at all. It has been great since then though with no issues!

Can you elaborate on your “Shared Hosting Special #3” and how configuration of “unlimited domains” is done? Will be interested to have this.

    June 13, 2017 @ 9:38 am | Reply
    • QS, this means there is no limit to the amount of domains you can host within your shared hosting account. As we use the cPanel control panel, this supports the ability for you to manage/host different domains under the same account.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

I have used AlphaRacks last year, and like some of the users here, I had some issues with my server, the server consistently shuts down for no apparent reason, I thought that it was just my fault as I was running a slightly larger project on a 512mb server. Hence, I proceeded to purchase a 2gb server, but had the exact same issue.
So I requested a refund from them, on the 20th December 2016, but was told that I could not receive a refund as it has been more than 3 days since I purchased from them. Note, I purchased it on 6th December 2016, and after reading what Julian said to Peter C, I decided to write this comment in hopes that we can resolve something. As both the VPS that I bought has been idle since a couple of days after I bought them.
    My ticket number is, #237592.

    June 14, 2017 @ 2:51 pm | Reply
    • Melvyn, I have reviewed your account and do not see any tickets about the server consistently shutting down. I have also reviewed your VPS and see that the uptime is excellent.

It looks like you requested a refund as you couldn’t figure out how to install Multicraft on your VPS server? Also, you submitted the refund after nearly a month of usage.

I have had their service since their last special and regret even the pittance of money that has been spent on it. Do not use this for VPS.

I have opened several support tickets and the best remediation I’m offered with is “We’ll migrate your VPS to another server, if you’d like” which fixes the issue for about 24 hours. I’ve finally e-mailed to ask to upgrade or get a refund for the unused 8+ months of service for cancellation and was declined.

Don’t use AlphaRacks under any circumstances for a VPS you want more than 90% availability to. The 10% that would be peak evening / useful time is worthless, their support staff is incompetent, and they truly don’t care. It takes a lot for Linux to shut down due to being unable to communicate with the resources, but they’ve oversold to that point.

Oversold / overcrowded hosts. Borderline scam artists.

Never buy from them! These guys are cheaters….They will charge money from your card automatically without consent and will not even refund! The service is also pathetic with downtime almost everytime – Just put your domain in uptime robot and see for yourself….The network is also slow as hell with speeds ranging from 60-80kb/s whereas they promise upto 1gbps! Such a shame….Customer service will never reply to tickets and ignore them deliberately. Now my money is stuck with them and they are ignoring my tickets! June 16, 2017 @ 7:04 am | Reply
        • mltobing, please attempt to update the repo servers to something other than the default ones. Through customer reports and through testing, the slow speeds you’re seeing through apt-get or through yum are due to the remote repository servers (nothing to do with AlphaRacks’ side). If you update it to a repo server that is less popular/common/used you should be seeing faster transactions on there.

Another way for you to test the network speed is to download a test file from another server ( run this command in SSH: wget http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test ), that is a more accurate way than relying on apt-get or yum as the repo servers are commonly crowded as there are thousands & thousands of Linux Server installs on Earth that are using the same repo servers.

Hi Julian! 1- With the offer of $2,99/year can I host a node.js bot?
2- How much ram and cpu it has?
3- One thing that I didn’t understood (I’m really new on this), I don’t need a domain, and I don’t have one. Why it’s a domain requiered if I’ll not host a web?
    4- What is the OS?

    Thank you very much!

    • 1. I don’t see why not, give it a shot, we have a 3 day, no questions asked money back guarantee period :-)

      2. The $2.99/yr shared hosting offer is allowed to use up to 768MB RAM and 75% CPU – which is more than sufficient for hosting small websites, blogs, forums, ecommerce scripts, etc.

      3. In this case, I would enter a placeholder/dummy domain during your signup, and you can simply access your hosting directory by IP.

      4. Our shared hosting servers are powered by CloudLinux OS with cPanel. For our VPS, we offer a wide selection you can choose from (CentOS, Scientific Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse)

    • Most of the complaints you see here have not been validated. As you can see, I always go out of my way to help, and often times they never end up contacting me, not even to validate their complaint. For the very few who have contacted me, I made sure a resolution was provided. We do have some of the lowest and unprecedented prices in the market, so it makes me believe that there may be a upset competitor out there who isn’t playing fair.

On the flip side, we also have a good amount of happy customers and positive reviews. Generally speaking, happy customers in this industry don’t tend to voice it, so the fact that we have some customers who are taking the time to speak for our service, means a lot and is a good sign that we’re doing things right.

I would recommend trying us out for yourself, we have a 3 day money back guarantee if you are not happy for any reason whatsoever, you can request a no questions asked full refund.

Alpharacks is pretty cool. only thing is you have to be straight to the point with their support (one or two liners) – which is understandable for an unmanaged server company. Anytime I need help, I tell them what I need in a few words, and its done quickly. If I write two or three paragraphs, the response times tend to be slower, lol.

Possibly the single worst VPS host I’ve ever used. Just pay a little more to use someone else, you’ll just waste time on these guys.

Extremely slow (both network and the vps itself), and a whole lot of weird things keep happening like being unable to use ssh other than a direct console connection. Very very weird. I’ve used perhaps 15 different VPS providers over the years but this one takes the cake in terms of very bad performance and just weird stuff happening, I feel like I need to wash my hands every time I use it. Oh yeah and the network connection is so bad that you can’t even use github.

Also expect to log into the VPS control panel about 50 times before you get anything done (like reinstalling or connecting via console) because 9 times out of 10 instead of doing what you want it will just log you out instead.

None of what you’re describing sounds like the norm, and just for the record we use SolusVM which is an industry-standard and popular VPS control panel. We haven’t had any other users report issues of it logging out, that would likely only happen if your IP and cookie sessions are changing every minute.

  52. I generally don’t leave bad feedback like this, partly because I understand what it’s like to run a small hosting company and things can go wrong in any number of ways. However, this is the worst hosting I’ve ever used; even worse than the free hostings I’ve used :/

Tried their cheapest shared hosting for a pretty low-traffic site, and was utterly disappointed.

Service generally sucked. Website worked fine one day, then https got randomly redirected to another guy’s website on the next. Support was not responsive and as a result my website was down for a whole day with no response.

Emails worked 50% of the times, and even when it worked, the mail server was as slow as molasses, taking 45s to log into webmail, 30s to download a simple text email via IMAP, and it’s not like I’m sending out mass marketing mails. Support ticket for email answered after almost a week, with no improvement on the performance or reliability.

Useless tech support who just use cut and paste answers! Save your money and go elsewhere.

If you are paying via paypal, escalate the issue and demand partial refund of your remaining months via dispute resolution.
This is widespread issue, and there is too many evident to support that you are being scammed into purchasing fraudulent service.

The more people escalate this issue and raised the alarm, the the quicker paypal can take action.

Good afternoon, I was just checking out your website and filled out your contact form. The “contact us” page on your site sends you these messages to your email account which is why you are reading my message at this moment right? That’s the most important achievement with any type of online ad, making people actually READ your message and this is exactly what you’re doing now! If you have an advertisement you would like to promote to tons of websites via their contact forms in the U.S. or to any country worldwide send me a quick note now, I can even target particular niches and my pricing is very reasonable. Shoot me an email here: trinitybeumer@gmail.com
