LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

BeyondAllKnowledge - $6.40 512MB OpenVZ VPS in Kansas City

Beyond All Knowledge Via this WHT offer. BeyondAllKnowledge is currently doing a 20% off recurring discount promotion with coupon code 11OVZLAUNCH. Their “Basic” VPS (direct sign up link) starts at $2.40/month with 128MB memory, 10GB storage and 50GB/month data. Their “Business” VPS is now at still-below-threshold $6.40/month after the discount (direct sign up link). Here is the spec

  • 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 200GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
  • 1x IPv4 + 15x IPv6
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are in Kansas City MO with Wholesale Internet. They were possibly reselling Virpus’ service before, but not sure about this new offer, as it’s still in the same location as Virpus. The plan structure has changed though, especially with inclusion of IPv6. Their website is still hosted with JustHost, WHOIS info hidden behind privacy guard, and the domain has been created since last August anyway. Operated from California.

  7. Yes, we used to be reselling Virpus products but we had realized that the quality was not up to par with our expectations. Therefore, we now have our own servers out of Wholesale Internet.

I will subscribe to this thread and answer any questions that you may have.

Eww, ugly free photos. You do not have your own servers cause you are showing pictures of generic servers, found online for free.

    March 19, 2011 @ 6:10 pm | Reply
    • No, that is not correct. We do have our own servers in Wholesale Internet. To prove it, we are providing instant setup which cannot be achieved if we do not own our servers. However, for our front page, our designer has put on some generic server photos. Just because we have generic server pictures does not mean that we don’t have our own servers. If you can tell, the VPS’s that we are selling are cheap and one of the reason for that is we don’t spend tons of money on the things that are not important to our customers so that we can reduce our cost and pass the savings on to our customers.

Not really, there are reseller programs that can be automated.

        March 19, 2011 @ 8:32 pm | Reply
        • We are not a reseller of company. We have our own servers that we manage and have root access to. We don’t resell.

    • That’s odd. It looks very similar to our design. I will ask my designer about this. Thanks for the info!

And if you check Page source, they both have exactly the same HTML structure and comments (e.g. ““).

      • Who is your designer? Also, why do you have WhoIs protection?

        • Jack:

It IS exactly the same, except for the text and their own images (which are from google images). Also, the WHOIS protection was raised before but they didn’t answer… trust me, host who do that shouldn’t be trust, they’re avoiding those questions. Probably resellers, if they don’t want to show images or anything.

      • It is your design here is a variation, there is about 10 of them.

        http://www.nuviotemplates.com/preview.php?template=impress-06

These designs have been around for over a year now.

There is nothing wrong with using a pre-made template per se, but this particular one has conditions of use: http://www.nuviotemplates.com/terms/
So you either have to keep their backlink, or pay a small sum to the template author.

      March 20, 2011 @ 12:49 am | Reply
      • I have contacted my designer and I have placed a backlink since it does look very similar to that template.

So you’re the designer, since you just said you added the back link.

        • No, I’m not the designer. I know PHP and HTML so I’m able to modify my site when I have new plans, pages, etc. I’m not an expert at web design so I had hired a designer but I guess he just modified a free template and sent it to me. I guess I may have to find another designer soon. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  11. WHOIS protection is certainly a worry. Although I did some googling + some facebooking, it shows up as from someone in Walnut/Chino area in California, and possibly a high-schooler (can’t confirm that).

Well I’ll stop here. We all know what happened to HBGary Federal when the CEO used Facebook too much…

    • WHOIS protection is just there until I find an office to rent. Then I can ask my support agents to work there but they are currently working efficiently at home.

I had the experience of getting lots of junk mail when I used to be in the coding industry, which is the main reason I have WHOIS protection right now.

thats not valid reason :) , why not just use partial private whois (just for email address). Please tell us the thurth

        March 20, 2011 @ 6:38 pm | Reply
        • How is that not a valid reason? I do not see anything wrong with having WHOIS protection. It’s just to protect my privacy and I hope that you can understand that.

We are not a fly-by-night host and we have always been financially stable. We have nothing to hide. We are not here to scam anyone and our clients know that. In the future, we will have rented an office and at that time, I will be more than happy to disclose the address of that building and remove our WHOIS protection.

Will you “understand” if I sign up using a privacy masked address instead of my real address or will you insist on a real address and phone number? Will you let your customers be anonymous or will you investigate them to know who they are and pass them through fraud checks?

Congrats, you just admitted to hiding.

Takes about 10 minutes to get a PMB or other sort of post box. You can ever get them over the net. It’s no excuse.

      • If you are conducting business online, where you actually take money from clients, then there is no valid reason to have your WHOIS hidden. It’s already quite relaxed conducting business online. For example are you a LLC registered in California?

Saying “We are not a fly-by-night host and we have always been financially stable” is not really going to help here, as everyone says that here — even those who are now in deadpool.

“It’s just to protect my privacy and I hope that you can understand that.”

Not really. That’s not protecting privacy but anonymity. Dealing with you means dealing with completely anonymous person (company? registered domain by some anonymous guy isn’t company) which for contact use anonymous web form.
It’s not about privacy but about making business with completly unknown anonymous individual person.
