LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

BuffaloVPS - $6.75 1GB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

BuffaloVPS Adam from BuffaloVPS emailed me their latest promo code for the LowEndBox readers. Similar to their previous offer but with slightly more discount. Use prof to get the “Professional” plan for $6.75/month, and use stan to get the “Standard” plan for $5.75/month. Both discount are recurring. In the case of Professional plan that’s roughly 55% off, and it has the following spec:

  • 1024MB memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 1500GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

You can use this link to sign up, with the promo code pre-filled. Servers in Chicago (test IP: 205.234.203.74). Do note that they are reselling ChicagoVPS‘s service (while waiting for their Buffalo data center to be completed). But then ChicagoVPS is promoting the very same “Professional” package for $6.50/month — just tested and the coupon code still works. I guess you can’t go wrong with either, as both Adam (BuffaloVPS) and Chris (ChicagoVPS) have been quite helpful here.

    • Maybe they have just turned it off? Tested 2 hours ago and it was still working. Anyway, you can still get the same package from BuffaloVPS for $6.75 so not big deal.

The promo code worked for me (not that I am buying one, just tested out of curiousity).

I wonder if IPv6 is available either here or with ChicagoVPS.

        May 19, 2011 @ 4:54 am
        • @rm IPv6 will be around soon, our provider is still working on getting that pushed out.

          Regards,

I see one option of Operating System is “CentOS 5 x86_64 w/ cPanel/WHM.” Does that means it comes with cPnael/WHM for free?

I see in the Add On area “cPanel/WHM – ($15.00 USD Monthly)”

    Thanks!

base on my experience, it’s only “with” cpanel/whm. you still need to purchase the license.

      • @cadam,

CPS is right, you still need to purchase the cPanel.

        Thanks,

If they can afford their own datacenter why can they not just colocate servers for the time being?

    May 19, 2011 @ 8:14 pm
    • Not their data center, but also probably reselling ColoCrossing’s.

I can’t say as if I have had the best experience with them. I have had their service since their last posting on LEB. Within the first week, my node was down for a solid 3 hours. Throughout the last month, there have been periodic outages. Today my node is down again.

    May 21, 2011 @ 9:51 pm
    • Josh,

Today is the only downtime that I know of since I have started. Today ChicagoVPS had a large DDoS attack, and after it was resolved one of the nodes had a kernel panic. Im assuming your on Chi5 node, and this is why your VPS is down. Besides today, everything has been perfect. If you disagree please open a ticket and we will take a look.

      Thanks,

      Adam

  7. Hey Guys,

I apologize! The node was working perfectly kosher and without issue, so i had a fishing trip in the middle of no mans land without cell phone coverage. I am working on the physical node now and it should be back up very very very shortly. I have the fingers typing and the machine working on fixing itself here right now.

Once again i apologize on the delay of this.

    Sincerely,

    Jeremiah L. Shinkle

    BuffaloVPS,

So you’re opening up your own private DC is Buffalo or what? Can you clarify as LEA made it sound like you were.

    May 22, 2011 @ 7:36 pm
    • Not at all. They are a reseller of ChicagoVPS, who uses ColoCrossing, who I believe is getting their Buffalo DC done. So I guess BuffaloVPS was initially intended for Buffalo NY, but as the DC is not yet ready, it falls back to reselling VPS in Chicago.

Even if Buffalo is ready, it is not their DC either.
