LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

CheapVPS - 256MB SSD £20/Year OpenVZ or £25/Year KVM in Maidenhead, UK

256MB KVM

  • 10GB RAID10 SSD Diskspace

CheapVPS have been featured on LowEndBox quite a few times before; since their inaugural offer, way back in 2008. Greg mentions, in the email, that these nodes will be moved to their brand new DC that they’ve recently built. The KVM node is scheduled to be migrated on the 23rd October and the OpenVZ node on the 14th November. Obviously this will mean a couple of hours of unavoidable downtime, whilst they’re being moved. They’re using Dell server equipment, with multiple Intel 520 SSDs in hardware RAID 10. Past reviews have been really good.

CheapVPS accept payments via Paypal and Credit/Debit card. They provide a 99.9% uptime guarantee. CheapVPS are a subsidiary of Simply Virtual, who are a part of the DADA group (which includes the domain registry Namesco). If you’re located in the European Union, and do not have a valid tax id, you will have to pay 20% vat when purchasing. You can choose from a selection of Linux distros when signing up. According to their website, additional IPv4 addresses are charged at £15.00 per year. For more information, take a look at their Terms and Conditions.

The reason I buy elsewhere in Europe but I am from the UK is mostly because of VAT. VAT really puts me off buying in the UK when in some other EU countries like in the NL I don’t pay it

    • How do you avoid VAT? If you’re in the UK then you have to pay VAT in EU also. That’s the reason I buy in the USA, as VAT on this deal bumps up the price to £30 ($45) per year for the 256MB KVM. Many better deals available for this price such as Prometeus and others such as USA offers around $10 for 256MB KVM! UK is a rip off already, the VAT just makes this worse!

Also GBP is expensive currency up to twice more than USD at the same amount, just screwed with it..:| Always prefer USD or EUR ( lucky not from EU ) :)

If you’re a UK consumer the only way to avoid paying VAT would be to buy from one of those “1-man shows who could disappear if the owner got hit by a bus” that you started a thread about :P UK businesses with an annual turnover of £79,000 (of VAT taxable goods and services) are required to register for VAT and charge you VAT (registration for VAT is voluntary for businesses with annual turnover below £79,000) .

I got a ramnode vps in the EU that I don’t pay VAT on, I guess it’s because they are a US company.

I live in Europe but in a non-EU country and they still want to charge me the VAT at checkout.

    • I would advise that you buy the item and open a ticket to get it removed from your invoice before paying.

    • Hi

If you are outside the EU, please let us know and we will reimburse the VAT.

If you are a business in the EU and have a valid company number, then we will reimburse the VAT.

      Hope that helps.

I’m in UK and I also wont be buying one due to VAT, this is another way for a UK company to get more money out of a person. I don’t know why you charge it, I doubt you are paying it.

I am using my US resident address for the orders and they have removed the VAT when I submitted a ticket. Just purchased all the OpenVZ servers they offer so now I have like 40 servers with them :).

I really like the services and the servers are running pretty good. Thank you guys for the good service and keep up the good work.

Will probably get half of those KVM servers you have later today when I figure out a slight bank problem I have :).

You know there is also an option of simply buying a dedicated server?

      September 20, 2013 @ 1:49 pm | Reply
  7. Danail Vanchev:

I cannot use dedicated server for the project I need these VPSes. Also this provides better security having each client I have on different server anc these VPSes are just perfect for that.

    • Did you mention ‘Security’? Openvz containers can be cloned, and logged into by dubious providers.

      September 21, 2013 @ 8:18 am | Reply
      • Danail Vanchev:

yes I did mentioned data security as the servers are with RAID10. If you do not have your own data-center where you control the access to the server and you rent the servers any provider can change your root password even on a dedicated server and get to your data.

So unless you have your own data-center your post is just not applicable to the conversation here.

I have lots of servers with these guys man. The tech support is amazing even though not very fast but only for questions not coverred. It is unamnaged service but despite that fact they help you with certain things especially with the kvm servers. The servers speed — just amazing for the money you pay. The fees the best probably on the market for UK service. The moment I found these guys I stopped looking for other providers.

In a wort their service is — AMAZING.
