LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

CpanelHost.ME - $5 512MB OpenVZ VPS

Updated December 2011 — showing Account Suspended page on their home page now. Looks like cPanelHost.me is no more.

CpanelHost Via this WHT offer. CpanelHost.me looks like a relatively new hosting business (domain registered in Aug 2009 by “Nicholas Locadie”, although a related domain was registered a year earlier). They are currently doing a 50% recurring discount promotion on WHT with coupon code wht50p. That brings down their Basic VPS package to $5/month, and you get:

  • 512MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1,000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/vePortal
  • 2 IP addresses

Servers are in Scranton PA. If anything, this looks very similar to BurstNET’s offer a few days ago. Even CpanelHost confirmed that they are “BurstNET’s partner”. Looks like they are on BurstNET’s Resale Program which gets 25% discount on BurstNET’s already cheap server packages.

  1. Adding to the stream of Burstnet resellers, seriously the amount of complaints on WHT for resellers that just vanish is amazing.

Far better to buy from the source than downstream.

  3. @CpanelHost — I certainly hope that your reputation is much more solid than your spelling. Is there anything to back it up?

I wasn’t have a go at your company, I was just saying the Burstnet reseller program, which also now covers VPS, has had it’s fair share of fly-by-night companies.

Many don’t exist 3, 6 or 12 months later leaving customers stranded.

So, let us know how you are doing in a year.

Post at #6 said about WHMCS nulled used by cpanelhost.me and you guys still ordered one? Speechless!

    November 2, 2009 @ 1:17 am
  10. @Hasanul — no one said that they have ordered one so far. Lots of sus and looks like CpanelHost is already under the water before anyone here is game enough to order one and test out.

Not to mention their domain Cpanelhost.me is black-listed as a spam domain. Their IP is also blacklisted on the RBL.

Looks like another fly-by-night operator. Stay away from this SCAMMY provider, and keep your money safe.

    @Hasanul
No, I never order vps from cpanelhost.me

Actually, i want to buy VPS for web proxy and my wordpress blog. I want to try Xen (i never try it). OpenVz, the problem if i order with 512Mb Guarantedd Ram and 1Gb Burstable Ram, it’s true or not with Guaranted Ram, because I can’t see it in Root SSH (just like 1Gb). With Xen, i can see 512Mb Guaranted Ram and 1Gb Swap in Root SSH.

    Thanks.

Yeah looks like cpanelhost.me made a runner.
job torched their butt with a flame thrower.

    Off-Topic:
I also tried to tracert them and made a typo. I typed cpanelhost.mee and it resolved.
When I check the TLD .mee at IANA, it doesn’t exist : http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/index.html
    Huh?

    November 2, 2009 @ 9:37 am
  14. @Robert — maybe you are using something like OpenDNS to resolve IP addresses, which auto-fall back to their default landing page?

    November 2, 2009 @ 9:53 am
  15. Cinderella:

I did purchase their unmanaged server. My 512MB Server was OK in performance, though the network transfer part seemed a bit slow…. well, that’s not very unheard of on a burstnet server. Other than that, the VPS was OK…. not bad for $3.33 VPS.

BTW, this WHT thread seems to be still active:
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=901334

Nevertheless, I am pondering leaving the party as I feel the Canada based provider will shutdown shop any minute!

No, nameservers from my cable internet provider (connection at home).
Have never used the OpenDNS nameservers, not even on VPS’s I have.

  21. Looks like you are using a toolbar helper or something locally.

    I doubt it’s your ISP.

Infospace are a helper / search service.

You can typeanytypeofdomainthatyouwantinhereplease.com and it will resolve it.

    November 2, 2009 @ 12:00 pm
  22. Robert:

    You are right.
I tried to resolve the name you gave. And it resolved.

Now I see it too, that it is some kind of assitant for my ISP : UPC.
The “target” name starts with upcnlassist-c.
    UPC = my ISP
    NL = where I live

  24. @Job, i don’t no what you smoke but our website is authorised to use WHMCS, We have a valid license….

And for your information, our website was offline sunday from 3 P.M to 11 P.M, because we migrate it to a new server and we got a technical problem with the migration…

Our Website is on a separate server, so no one of our customers got a problem.

    November 2, 2009 @ 4:57 pm
  25. Robert:

I’ve seen the problem with the WHMCS license also.
There was even a message in red coloured text saying “This domain is not authorized to be using WHMCS.” and to report the URL to the installation.

Here it is (from yesterday Nov 1st) : http://i34.tinypic.com/2dqkhzd.png

    liita, also confirmed seeing it.

But I did not mention it because others already did.

Edit by LowEndAdmin — WHMCS is now reporting CpanelHost.me has a valid license.

  27. CpanelHost.Me — Problem with our private server…
we had a Hard Disk failure this night on our private server that host cpanelhost.me. Our Databases for the billing system was destroyed.

We tried to recover the database but it did not work. That is why our website was down.

We are working to recreate all our customers billing accounts manually, if you have any question please contact us (sales@cpanelhost.me)

Please take note: All our customers datas, servers and VPS are working without problem. The database problem occured on our private server.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    November 6, 2009 @ 3:40 pm
  28. @CpanelHost.me — maybe you want to invest something that calls “backup”? Can’t imagine a business not having one of their most important asset, billing records, backed up on multiple locations.

    November 6, 2009 @ 10:36 pm
  29. Robert:

I would also make sure to lose all billing accounts details prior to November 2nd, considering the WHMCS licensing *cough* *cough* *cough*.

    November 7, 2009 @ 8:27 pm
  30. Honestly, you really have time to lose… We are a serious and private company.

If you want to enjoy our services, you are welcome, otherwise please keep your negative comments that looks like jealousy for yourself.

I used to have vps with both burstnet and cpanelhost.
Ironically, performance on the burstnet vps was abysmally BAD! Everything about their slice – be it the network, the CPU (they have limited each vps to 1 CPU/core + 1ghz), the disk – every component was sub par.
Comparatively, cpanels vps were decent – not great but okay. I’ll give them that.
But I still jumped ship – after their whmcs debacle, the site went down and their client database got trashed. too many suspicious events were taking place – so I decided to take my money back and run

  49. Alright alright. I am closing this thread now because I can see many trolling, personal attacks and unnecessary comments. Just to wrap this up:

    1. WHMCS is now showing a valid license for CpanelHost.me. Good to see you guys getting it sorted out.
    2. Your conduct on a public website like this one clearly demonstrated your lack of professionalism. Here is a lession from Blog Commenting 101 — don’t feed the trolls.
    3. And thank you CpanelHost.me for making legal threats against this blog. Hopefully you don’t do that to your disgruntled customers.
    4. People work in different timezones and I am not from US nor Canada — don’t go mad if your legal threats don’t get immediate attention. That implies I am also under neither jurisdictions.

Well. Threats closed. Let’s move on.
